I would venture to guess they are 500cid and because he throttled the thing up before he left must be running gas or alc, they never rev with nitro, so I bet arounf 1500hp each.

Blowers do not rely on having air being forced into them. Blowers use horsepower to suck air in on one side (the scoop side) and then blow that air out on the other side. Yeah, the air rushing into the scoop makes their job easier, but the second engine isn't suffering very much.
