  • good demo amp sounds great im laughing because it looks like raymond off of that show and if you go to facebook and type in austin slattery and put them two together you get this...

  • Eh, not to thrilled with this amp. I wasnt hearing 5 totally different personalities. I heard some extra gain. I'm sure this is a quality amp but to bill it as 5 totally different amps is marketing bullshit. Its got one sound, with some gain and eq variations as far as I'm concerned.

  • Everybody Hates Pasko

  • It's a damn good amp. My faves are the Tree for cleans with a BB preamp if I want a little mustard on it, Star for a bolder clean with a Zendrive if I want mustard, pickle relish and onions on it. The Bull sounds pretty good on its own with a touch of delay. Hate the trannies both on one side, makes it very awkward to lift. Could use an FX loop. Got at a blow out price of 750 for head and cab, before Peavey changed the name to the Gary Rossington Signature Penta and priced at 1399 head only.

  • It's Ray Ramono from Everybody Loves Raymond Show.. LOL

  • I agree with D3COMO. One of my friends has one of these, and it's an awesome amp. He can go anywhere from fendery cleans to in yer face metal. He runs it most of the time in the Star mode with just a little breakup.

  • His guitar out of tune. It's maddening! Sweet amp though.

  • @stratboy59 You sir have a tin ear.

  • Kinda dark, I think a hot-rodded tele or something with P-90s would be better with this amp. Of course he did have the bass all the way up and the treble backed off, and I bet he had the tone knob on his guitar rolled back a little too. It's kinda surprising just because my experience with peavey is that you always have to swap the preamp tubes out for more warmth. Usually they make amps that are really bright. This one is more like a super hot-rod bassman with extra gain. Cool though.

  • one question: Will this amp be able to handle an 8-string running through it? That's my only concern.

  • I dislike Tony Pasko.

  • I hate Tony Pasko.

  • the knobs go to 11! so cool!

  • LOL at his face during "Mudflap Girl" he's so tough xD

  • Why is the bass set at 10??

  • what about the 2nd knob on the back peavey mention on the site?

  • The Bull sounds pretty sexy...

  • I think judging amp tones on UTUBE is pointless. most DEMOS use cameras that clip very easily. Rivera does the best job I think, using a mic. I have the PENTA, very good amp !

  • It's actually a great sounding amp, but in this video demo it sounds quite muddy, and there's a reason for this. In the be- ginning of the video when the features of the amp are being pointed out, the camera pans accross the front control panel. You can see where each control is set, and the bass control is maxed. I don't know why the demonstrator set it that way, but doing so will muddy up the sound on this amp. With the bass con- trol set lower, this amp sounds great and is versatile.
  • and why didn't he tune his guitar??

  • I have a penta and it sounds great in all positions. They shoulda turned up the treble for the video woulda sounded much better there is plenty.Tony how bout that combo?

  • -I have a penta and it sounds great in all positions. For the video it just needs more treble.Tony how bout that combo?

  • doesn't sound good art all..might be the video-mic quality...

  • guitarist....

  • this or 6505?

  • 6505

  • wow, i'm sorry, but this amp sounds really fuzzy and muddy. anyone else feel that way?

  • sounds like muddy crap in this vid...

  • i wish peavey wood put reverb in ther amps like this 1 n windsor

  • I just bought a Windsor, now I want a Penta..

  • lol

  • Doesn't the guitar player from Lynyrd Skynyrd use these amps?

  • not quite this one i dont think, he has his own Gary Rossington signiture one now

  • Yes he does and he's used them since the early 70's

  • Yop.even has his own signature model.

  • The EQ needs more high end on the mudflap setting.

  • this amp sounds great i think it will be my next one.the only solidstate i like is peavey special 212.this should be vesatile like that amp except all tube.does it overdrive at low levels?

  • it has a gain knob, so you will get saturation/overdrive in the preamp section. if you want poweramp saturation... it's gonna be loud.

  • If its opened up, yes

  • wednesday 13 used it on his last album ... weird sound

  • Just bought one of these!!!! badass!!!

  • For how much?

  • sounds muddy

  • 140 WATTS!?! I can't turn my Classic 30 more than half way up. Really nice amp but I don't play stadiums. Have a 50 watt version?

  • wattage does not equal volume.

  • how does that work any way. i always thought that more watts made your amp louder.

  • The thing that pissed me off is the mics they used. It makes the amp sound half as good as it really does. But it still sounded great wth a crappy mic! You need to hear one for yourself. Buy it!

  • how happy is he when he starts playin on the mudflap setting lol

  • You guys should bring back the VTM, I think it is the best amp Peavey ever made. It sounds a hell of a lot better than this.

  • definitely! i have one and i love it

  • Yeah I wanted to try the Vyper Tube like 2 months ago, but none at GC in Southfield.. I have a Spidervalve and I love it. But I have read alot about the Vypyer and I have an open mind.

  • beauty of an amp

  • I read on Harmony Central about a penta combo.

I think it was from 06. Whats the chance of this happening or did it and it just didn't sell.If the combo sounds as good as the head I would love to have one.

  • can you get more hi end out of this or no??

can anyone show more then just the different distortions like explore the eq

  • good point fatblckchick

  • The eq on the Penta is fairly conventional 3 band with presence on the master, except in the "Brahma" position where the eq goes from passive to active. mds

  • all i play on is peavey

i mean the only cabinet i play on

great tome unlike marshal cabinets which kill tone

  • Thanks man...........

  • Good amp, great guitar player.

  • really great demo, usually im a fender clean man, which is why i have your valveking, but these clean tones are stunning

  • The star is my personal favorite. When we used to do amps for Billy Gibbons, we used to tweek them a certain way. The Star is the Billy Gibbons mod. And if you see Billy; tell him to come back home here to Peavey, we miss him. Please spread the word and also check out my demo on the Penta.

    Thanks,

  • Just bought this Penta amp. I've wanted one since they came out. Its a great amp. The clean is great because it doesn't have much color and infinte head room. u can't overdrive the clean channel. so, its great for your own over drive pedals. I love the remaining settings also, especially the STAR

  • Great Question: I love the tone of EL34's I'm with ya on that one. The JSX comes stock with EL34's and the Triple XXX amplifier is auto biased for 6L6s & EL 34's There is a switch right on the top of the chassy where you change the tubes. And as far as speakers go, that is so subjective, everyones ear is different. But I can tell you that we try and build the best speakers we can, right here in the USA.

  • We are all waiting for Vypyr demo.

Is Vypyr using Revalver MK technology?

  • We are working on the Vypyr demo now, but there's a lot to cover. Vypyr does not use ReValver technology, it uses analog modeling which is far superior to digital modeling because analog is warmer. Think of it this way, tubes are analog, right? We actually bought all of the amps for the models and spent months getting it right. I think you'll be blown away at how close the models really are. mds

  • Hey guys,

Thanks for watching my video and the positive feedback. I'd like to get more feedback on the type of products you want demos on, features you would like highlighted; I can help answer any other kind of questions you have. You have a voice here at Peavey and we would like to know your thoughts so we can build better products. I'm hoping we can start a community of players & take over the world with great Peavey products.

    Thanks again for your support.

    See Ya,

    Tony J. Pasko

  • I'd like to see Peavey come out with more EL34 based amps or be able to run off of either EL34's or 6L6's depending on the user's preference. I'd also like for Peavey amps to be able to be biased without removing the chassis. Something similar to Marshall's JCM2000 series. One more thing, please put better speakers in Peavey cabs.

  • the Penta cab has Celestion GT12t-75's... pretty good speakers.

  • Tony, definitely the Penta is for me! I just wish it could be in a 2 X 12 combo! I would snap it up in a heartbeat! The thing is, in my house, there is only so much room, and while the sound of the 4X12 is "Rock God Tone To Die For" it's just too big for some quarters. Thanks for an awesome demo though, all the settings kick butt, and the ease of operation is the deal clincher!

  • you could jest get the head, and buy a 1 * 12, or 2 * 12 cab to go along with it??

  • I love his tone from 5:38 to the end.

  • Im thinking of getting one too . . . .

  • i was thinking of getting this amp i tried it out at my local guitar shop its pretty sweet would you be able to demo the Peavey Bandit 112 please and thank you
