Geez, that is so sadly true. With any luck, the recent detente with Wilder leads to his producing their next work. To say that his influence and hard work have been missed is an understatement.
What do the British say? Oh Yes! Fancy! I fancy Neil in a big way. He is always in my heart as well. I have loved the Pet Shop Boy since I was 21 years old and I'm now 43 years old. My College Years were defined by the music of Neil and Chris aka Pet Shop Boys
Listen at 3:22. Did Kelly think Home and Dry was 16 years old??? What a retard. Neil recovered nicely and answered as if he was thinking 'well she must have meant West End Girls'
yeah, it seems to me that Kelly thought that while PSB was promoting a new album, "Home And Dry" was a song from the same period as "West End Girls". i'm so embarrassed for America... the half-wits we allow on television are just disgraceful.
what a wonderful performance of this song. I really enjoy how heartfelt it is here. I enjoy the studio recording of this, but when PSB play it live, there is something that is brought out in it. The live version on the cubism DVD is really great to view as well.
I've been a PSB fan for 20 years, and counting. Their better stuff was made in the 90s, such as "Behaviour" and "Bilingual." Those two albums were fantastic(though nightlife was a disappointment).
Unfortunately, that's when the PSB no longer received the attention from American radio that made them successful in the 80s. That's why Regis assumed that the PSB was a one-hit-wonder production.
If "Se A Vida E" had been exposed to the American public, it would've been a smash hit.
I'm 17 and at my age, I;m supposed not to like them but I love them so much! see? they're achieving right now! There must be new fans of them time after time, PSB forever!
PSB are HUGE everywhere except here in the US but . If you go to one of their concerts here in the US you would be amazed at the diversity of the crowd. I saw them in LA at the Wiltern in Nov. Really great show and the audience went crazy for them, knew every word to every song. It was a total blast.
I would hardly call them the most successful duo of all times. Simon & Garfinkle.. The Carpenters.. The White Stripes... Sonny & Cher.. could go on and on. PSB's hits are re-makes of other groups stuff - not orignal works. Take away their "Always On Your Mind" "Streets Have No Name" "Go West" and I'm not sure about the rest..
Record sales say otherwise, and only one number one was a cover, and they were asked to record it for a show for Elvis' 10th anniversary. I would not insult PSB by mentioning Simon & Garfinkle (as you call them)in the same sentence...
who will remember PSB in another 20 years? I honestly DO like PSB but they'll never achieve the status, respect, and enduring popularity of Simon and Garfunkle.
Saw this live at the Thetford Forest concert, July 2006 - nice acoustic performance and good to see Neil on the guitar. Voice sounds a bit lost on this video, it was better in real life!
I still like some DM songs.

Tennant's sexuality(singer) as well as the Domino Dancing video that might have hurt their fame
but they have overcome many hurtles. Lowe and Tennant
are noted as one of the best lyricists of the modern age
and worked with big stars and were commissioned by both
the British public and private sector for their work.

but only in the US. they are big stars across europe, asia and south america as well.
