no skill zao kai ever does is crisp. hes an overrated gymnast, no doubt olympic caliber. but not worth a gold medal, especially if u compare it to horton.

these days they would deduct more for the low angle of catching healys and rybalkos etc. but up until recently the judges didnt really care about that. apart from a few minor form errors, this routine is a 17 start value which is pretty damn high. its not classic russian body lines or huge power releases but its clean. the camera angle isnt really flattering either.

Sure it's a little sloppy in spots, but this routine is packed with high risk skills and he hit.

It means that difficulty would not mean as much as it does in todays world of gymnastics. They are implying that Horton had better execution than Zou.

oh i so agree!! he definitely made everyone remember him in beijing.. and well.. i think i saw him and was like 'omg this boy is CUTE N HOT... GO GO .. OMG HE IS GOOD... OMG GOLD!! from that moment.. zou kai, the name i remembered hehe!! yes his skills are to be jealous of la.. i mean the german dude was good.. but our zou kai was better ^^ i think china did a FAB job overall and realli made ppl notice them. males AND females =) such strong gymnasts... so proud!

he did a lot of turning moves, which are pretty hard to do, when you're trying to hold on and keep your posture right at the top of the bar. if you look at Yang Yilin, a female gymnast, she does a lot of turning moves on the uneven bars, and it is one of the hardest routines in the world. so shut up and stop pretending you're a judge.

You know, despite what everyone else on here thinks, I have to agree with you. It's a good routine, but I wouldn't call it the BEST. He does do a lot of nice pirouetting, but I really don't think his difficulty level should have been so much higher than everyone else's.

That is what you think, but please do respect the judges scores because they are professional and Zou's difficulty level(A scores) does match with the current COP(code of points) in Beijing2008. That's why he won the gold in the EF with the highest difficulty level of 7.2(A scores) and there is another discussion in gymworld forum and intlgymnast forum regarding to Zou difficulty and why he won. Check it out.
