Lost my mother in January 1994 a few days after my birthday. Today is her birthday (Feb. 24, 2012). This is the CLASSIC song for mothers who were real mothers. Mine sure was.

She has some money not rich, she tells me I worked hard so I could leave you something and a nice house paid off. Does anyone really lose mom? After 25 yers she still lives in my mind strongly as ever.

Nobody ever sings about fathers, just mothers, because fathers always walk off. Black mothers are so strong, they use to work 2 to 3 jobs to support their family, raise their children, and run the house. Anyone that said women are the weaker sex is a lie, men are the weak ones because they walk off from their family cause they get stressed. Women never walk off.

Now we don't have black mothers like in this song and Sadie. Young black mothers today just yell, scream, and hit their kids. They don't know how to nurture their children, teach them respect and how to say please and thank you. Now we don't have black mothers who'll go clean houses, they rather degrade themselves by shaking their bootys in a strip joint. Black mothers back in the day had self respect they would never stoop that low, they would work 3 or 4 jobs before whoring themselves out.

@RalphFee Ralph, very touching what you sent me, my mom and I are very close. She is 74 and I starting to see the ageing and slowing down some. She had a 40 year career with Holiday Inn, a good job. She has some money not rich, she tells me I worked hard so I could leave you something and a nice house paid off. I said mama spend that money, take a trip with your girlfriends, my dad died 6 years ago and a day does not go by I do not think of him. Money does nothing for me, and sure not momsThanks

@RalphFee ....I always listen to this three times a year...my mom's birthday, mother's day, and the entire first week of Aug. She died on the 3rd. That was 31 years ago now. It does get easier if not less painful....Just remember the love. That will NEVER go away.

@Downtowncb1 . I Still have my Momma at 85 y.o. but I lost my Daddy this past March. My deceased brother Gregory played this song constantly because he loved his Momma. He always took us out for dinner on Mother's day. This song always makes me cry. Your Mom will always be with you because you are her baby, no matter how old you are. :)

He taught me how to paint a house and all that's inside. I had a true Daddy but you only get one Mother. My Mother has been in my for all the crap life has served me up thus far. She can always see the brighter side of life.She teaches me to always carry myself like a lady. But trust me, she ain't no lite weight.

I remember when this first came out. As a young teenager never really listen to the words. But once I lost my mother I started listening.
