The best American comedians don't tend to succeed in the same way because my guess is that they're not appreciated by the majority. Britain has great comedy bcoz we have a good 'sense' of humour & therefore decent comedians flourish unlike in the states. The law of averages says that there has to be around 5 'Peter Kay' calibre comedians in the US but the networks pick-up shyte instead.
