Just to let you know a baffle and spark arrestor and db killer are all completely different things.
1.baffle = an insert usually found in an exhaust to improve propulsion pressure eg back pressure
2.spark arrestor is to block unburnt fuel that has been ignited in the chamber popping into the atmosphere as a flame eg back fire flame spit etc.
3. Db killer or DB is a specially designed air pressure filter to which the escaping air hits a back plate and is forced around and through the small holes
I'd love to hear it without the set valve and then with/without the spark arrestor. I've removed the set valve on mine already so I guess I will do with/without the arrestor once mine comes in next week :)
Considering getting one for my 2010 600. I've just started getting into modding bikes so was wondering if its easy to install? Did it come with good instructions? Is it a bad idea to run without a PC? cheers for the reply!
On this bike 2007 GSXR 600 bike I had...it had a PowerCommander in it and I took it to a shop to get dyno'ed and turned. I have the Bazzaz Z-Fi Fuel Control Unit + Z-Fi AFM (Air Fuel Mapping) in my current bike (2008 GSXR 600which allows you to tune the bike yourself in the real world. I recommend the Bazzaz over the PowerCommander.
SET valve is in the exhaust pipe before the muffler and its like a butterfly valve when the bike is at full throttle its open and as you close the throttle is closes with the turn of the hand grip, its main purpose is engine breaking cuz when u let off the throttle the valve closes and stops most of the air from passing through the exhaust so you slow down via the engine
@ministroker215 It doesn't really make all that big a difference, mainly a lot smoother throttle response, thats pretty much the only benefit becuase there is no lag waiting for the valve to open. But the supposed power gains are really un noticed. Plus you have to pull PIN 30 from your harnes otherwise you're FI light will stay on.
Dude just got the Ackrapovic shorty installed and had the mechanic take out the spark arrestor/ noise reduction insert out and man is it sweet thanx for the vid really helped me find the right exhaust! let me know of any other mods i could get done to make it sweet, im new to te bike world... thanks!
why do u have an 08 when u already have an 07? whats the point its the smae bike minus the fact they went back to the old exhaust ststem that bolts to the rear passanger pegs? lol
oh i thought u still had both lol so just currious why stay with a 600 instead of 750 or 1000.... my 600 is my frist bike i have only been riding for like a week lol so why didnt u go to a bigger CC just currious cuz u seem to know quite a bit
The 600 is plenty fast and I don't feel like wasting more money for the higher end models. If I had money to burn then I might have got the 750. I like the lighter bikes. Also the 600 is more fun anyways.
haha thanx for the info man, im having mine installed at a dealer and my bike is obviously no longer under waranty would they take that out if i asked them to when they intall it?
hoping u can help me out man, i just got this same pipe and im getting mine installed soon like in a couple days but whats is the spark arrestor, baffle thing your talking about? what does it do/ what is it and whats the diff between keeping it in or taking it out?
The correct term I have found is "Noise Reduction Insert". So I guess it reduces noise and also is intended to prevent combustible materials, usually sparks or other tiny flaming debris, from escaping into areas where they might start fires.
does it ever get annoying? im conflicted right now because i plan on putting a slip-on on my gsxr600 k6 and either want the two bros vale or the m4..since they are about the same price it comes down to sound..some people say that the two bros gets annoying and earplug necessary if riding it for awhile..have you gone on say a 1 hour ride and did it get annoying?? thanks in advance
Two bros is poor quality. I had one on my 05 but I wouldn't go back. Love the sound but its cheaply made. I'd go with this or a scorpion if you like the deep tones.
It's true about the TwoBrothers pipe. I have it on my bike and its absolutely necessary to wear earplugs and even then, it still gets annoying after about 45min. I'm looking to get a Akrapovic.
I have a K6 gsxr 600. I can't wait to switch out my current pipe. It takes some of the fun out of riding when you get a head ache after a short amount of time!!!
i can imagine... if u do get this same pipe the akrapovic shorty take out the spark arrestor thing he talks about it sounds sweet with it out.. its the perfect amount of loud!! let me know what u think once i get it
with just a slip-on you can get by without a PC and dyno tune...but if you get an air filter id suggest doing it...i just ordered this exhaust because of your fly-by video(had a 2bros shorty on a k6 600) im also going to remove the stupid set valve while im putting the exhaust on...nice video
Thanks alot! The video is extremely informative. I have a K7 GSXR 750 with a stock muffler and is interested in doing the same. It seems this system is not difficult to install and doesn't seem as if you'll need to remap the system. If you change filter from stock to upgrade will you need to remap?
If you are going to get your exhaust upgraded...I recommend you upgrade the air filter (K&N) and get a power commander installed. Then get your system tuned (custom map and dyno).

How does the SET valve work in conjunction with a slipper clutch, or am I missing something basic here?

Any speed increase from this pipe? So with the cat off will you be able to pass inspection?

@djduran500
Akrapovic offers this slip-on style only for the 06-07 models, for the 08-09 models, Akrapovic offers this exhaust design only as a full system kit
Kongbounmy 1 year ago
@Kongbounmy thats why you purchase the 06-07 slip on and cut the cat off of your 08-09 and it fits perfect. thats what i did
soccerb16 1 year ago
You only payed ~300 dollars? damn, thats a nice price!
in EU, the exhaust + the bend costs around 1500€ ._.
and of course, is NOT allowed for the streets :C
btw: i love your videos ;D

No it does not get annoying at all. Yeah between the Two Bros and the M4 they both sound good but Akra owns both of those ;)
No earplugs necessary! I've been on a 500+ mile ride with this exhaust and it's not annoying at all.

thanks so much for the info.

2bros is crap compared to the akra...and the m4 is like $500 which is $100+ more than the akra and the akra sounds better....woohoo!!!
