  • Mr. Slava, it you are going to sing this Prayer, please learn the works correctly. I love your voice but get the words together.

  • There are two kinds of Countertenor... Falsetto and natural countertenor

  • I am sorry, is that really counter-tenor? Sounds more like falcetto...

  • This is so epic!!!!!!!

  • Beautifulllllllllllllllllllll. He is the envy of some sopranos.

  • Bravo.thank you Slava.

  • The vibralto effect is a bit over but I could live with it. What spoiled the song is the echo effect (which is common in all of Slava's recording). Above all, what really kills this song is the deafening hammerings of the tubular bells in the middle and at the end (and also the pre-mature hand clap). The tubular bells is just like an alarm clock waking you up whilst in the midst of a sweet dream. Where's the musical director?

  • He has such a sparkling, beautiful voice. I love the vibralto effect!

  • The song itself vanishes with so many technical comments. I liked the interpretation.

  • Why he thinks he's a countertenor?

He sucks much, his timbre is annoying.

  • who is this guy?

  • kinda of a falsetto.

  • The counter tenor voice is much more rounded powerfull and flowing than the falsetto; I think this is obvious to anyone with ears that work and the intrest to listen, but as a I a piano tuner what could I know about singing other than a beautiful voice when I hear one!

  • I still disagree as they physically are different vocal cord formations.

  • Falsetto head voice same shit just more strong dude...

  • I disagree with you they aren't the same. I have had a scope in my larynx and sang what you would call falsetto and in reality the vocal folds closed up and left a small opening to vibrate the sound. That is the vocal coordination which contriubtes to head voice. Falsetto is only using the edges of the foldsalong the entire length of the folds which form a light and airy sound.

  • Still you say it contributes, well then i still think its falsetto more strong... anatomically and phonetically they are different i understand that, but still its not our natural speaking voice, some call it chest voice, that said science doesnt classify voice as fry-chest-head voice... it is classified as fry-chest-falsetto. Pardon my spelling if it is incorrect.

  • Falsetto is a different mechanism, you are basically pulling the cords to make them tight and allow air to flow only over the edges. Granted some are able to sing in a strong falsetto but for someone like me I can sing in mezzo in full voice. No falsetto and I have seen proof of it.

  • could you please link me or show me those proofs please i would like to hear them, thank you.

  • I also disagree. Being able to do this myself, I even feel a difference between falsetto and being able to go that high.

  • sorry dude, they aren' t the same. infact, they are much different. dont tell me justin timberlakes falsetto is really the same thing as this countertenor.. not quite.

  • hmmm i think its not the same sound because of the different techniques, but they´re both still falsettos... its not their modal voice, i can produce both types of sounds with my voice, but still they are falsettos... that is what i think.

  • your argument makes completely no sense. your saying that the same exact technique is used to produce two very different sounds. obviously there is a huge variences between the two.

  • No, please read carefully. I said they are different techniques with the same human voice classification(falsetto in this case). Just like when you sing in your chest voice (or modal voice) you can achieve various different types of sounds by applying different techniques. You may try it yourself, I ignore if you are a singer, but try singing something in modal voice for example in the same way you speak, then sing the same thing but like when you are yawning.

  • You will listen the difference even though they are both still chest voice (or modal voice). You can also apply more air and not yawn to achieve another type of sound, you can apply tension to achieve another type of sound too. All of these are different techniques but all fall in the same voice classification.

  • @jesparza562 I agree with Minimi, they are both still in the falsetto function of the vocal cords. Just variations on cord closure, breath seepage, tension and tone.

  • very nice; I had the pleasure of being in a few music classes with a counter tenor. It was awesome to hear him sing alone. The closest thing we have to castrati nowadays and the wonderment of that period of music history

  • muy buena cancion

  • subarasii

  • Hmm. I'd have to hear the man speak to be convinced he's not a gifted falsettist. Beautiful singing though, I will say without reservation. Timbre makes me imagine a basso speaking voice. I was expecting something along the lines of Russell Oberlin's timbre. Amazing singer, Oberlin. Quite unique in fact. :)

Ps It's staggering news to me to hear that "quite unique" "quite good" Quite so" and so forth is considered bad grammar. Really, I'm quite shocked! :)

  • This voice is quite hard to place indeed!

    I'm quite confused.

The only thing I'm quite certain about is that heavy Russian accent.

    :P

  • Slava has a timbre unlike anybody else's; therefore, I am unsure whether he is a falsetto singer or natural alto. The tone might be "an acquired taste:" rather restricted and throaty. I also have heard him sing higher, louder passages where his tremelo is more pronouced. I prefer a more pure tone and precise technique like Andreas Scholl.

  • A Countertenors voice is so amazing to listen to! The amount of control that they have over their falsetto is truly astounding.

  • it really isnt that hard. i could sing like that all day and still sing (not base) baritone. i actually enjoy singing like that but sooner or later i have to sing low for my choir. soo that all i have to say.

  • Yea I can also sing like that but I'm not known for it. It's not just singing with a falsetto though. It's the pronunciation, as well as the control over the vibrato. I'm a music instructor, lol so I know my stuff. This guy is truly amazing. Very good!

  • Are you sure it is falsetto? It sounds a lot like a head voice to me.

  • Tengo un dick ke te meteora el cerebro

i un dock que te falseto el cerebro

    me entiendes?

    la concha del papa

  • No comprendo. I am guessing that you are being rude.

  • I've always been pedantic about the word 'unique' ever since my English teacher pulled me up on it during my A levels! I'm from good old London. I went to Glasgow last year as it goes. It's a nice place.

  • I've read that he's a natural male alto, the voice sounds quite unique so, maybe ...

    hmmm...

  • "quite unique" is not grammatically correct. Something is either unique or not unique. You can't qualify the word.

Apart from that, I have thought the same thing as you!

  • As you might have guessed I'm not a native English speaker. As a matter of fact I have never even learned English. TV and Internet are my teachers.

    :D

  • Well I never would have guessed. You write very well. Most English people get the word 'unique' wrong, so I wouldn't worry about it! I'm a bit of a prude when it comes to grammar, I have to admit.

  • I was not insulted in any way :)

  • "quite unique" is absolutely correct (at least in England where "quite" means "completely"). Are you from America ?

  • Oh never mind, people over here have started to sound like Americans already, how unfortunate !

  • I agree that the point is more contraversial than I let on; but I would still insist that 'quite unique' is, at the least, grammatically misconceived. Have a look on Google and I'm sure you'll see what I am talking about. By the way, I am from England.

  • Well now it's misconceived and not incorrect any more. Haha, I was just teasing you, but yes, I would edge towards "quite" meaning "to some degree", too; at least, that's how it's normally heard to be expressed here. I'm originally from Glasgow, where are you from in England ?

  • superb

  • Odd.. If a woman sang this there would be no cricisim, it would be called beautiful. But because this divine music blossomed from the lungs of a man, some are compelled to throw stones.

I have but one word for this talented artist.

    BRAVISIMO!

  • If one saw a nice set of tits on a girl, they would call it beautiful; yet if one saw the same rack on a man, they would probably make prejudicial comments.

  • Very Good performance!

  • Slava, if you read it please, leave me a message on my account. I am Rita (we studied together in our past life... You should remember me). Just can say that I am a big fan of your tremendous talent! I was at your concert when you had tour in New York several years ago. You sang at Merkin Hall that time. It was unforgettable performance. Still feel sorry that I didn't meet you afterwards. But anyway, I have your CDs and really enjoy listening to your voice. Hope to hear from you. Best of luck.

  • Rita, You are a NUT!!

  • What's wrong? Some problems?

  • If I don't see him sing, the singing sounds great. I do like it. Much greater than Andrea's.

  • I think vitas version is just weird...this one is more natural.

  • i like vitas version better =D, vitas has a very high voice

  • hmm, maybe, but damn this guy can go pretty high... every time i hear this song i think Hitman: Blood Money...

  • I'm currently singing Tenor 2 in my choir cause I can go as high in full voice, but I can go very high in fals etto with ease. I wonder if i'm a countertenor...

  • That's pretty damn good for a live performance. Kind of fast, but interesting phrasing. I hope to hear more of this guy. Altosuperior is just jealous.

  • disgusting

  • Great performance! There was an Ave Maria CD single by Slava with an upbeat remix too.

  • very bad start:S i don't like his voice very much. I like Andreas' more<3

  • This is lovely singing. Easy on the eyes too!! :-)
