Dick Cavett what champion. The concert performance that followed this "chat" is just brilliant. The Stones were cooking white hot at this point. Great stuff.
I told someone in my math class that story, but I remembered it wrong. I said it was 2 kilos. Anyway, originally when I heard this interview I looked up the 10 kilos and converted it into pounds and laughed. Maybe he is stoned or maybe he is just trying to be funny or a smart ass.

The Stones have been irrelevant for nearly three decades now, have been coasting on the laurels earned in their first decade. Time to hang it up, you Strolling Bones!
By the way, a friend of mine told me of another friend of his who was selected in a contest to meet the band backstage, was required to sign a document promising not to comment on how old the Stones looked, nor remark on their diminutive statures. Talk about narcissism!
No, he was dead serious--they insisted he sign this document.
I've read a number of biographies of the Stones, so nothing would surprise me. Jagger once had a fit because he couldn't find one of ex-wife Bianca's scarves to wear.
I've heard about celebrities attaching ridiculous riders to their contracts too--some bimbo female singer wanted only green M&M's or some such stocked among her dressing room food, etc.
Some of these celebs have huge egos & are incredibly pampered!
Of course the gall of someone like Diana Ross, who insists she be addressed as "Miss Ross" when in her presence, is legendary.
These celebs actually have stuff like that drawn up in contracts for their employees to sign, even for journalists interviewing them. Of course, no credible journalist worth his salt would agree to such ludicrous demands.
I used to be a music journalist, and I also fronted & managed a rock group, so I've seen it from both sides. But I have more respect for professions such as firefighters and trash collectors, who do real work and at least perform useful services for us all, unlike these spoiled celebrities.

I don't think any musician(s) are worth $300-$1,000 a ticket, no matter how good he/she/they are! I'm old enough to recall when one could see top-name acts for $5.00 a ticket. I realize prices go up over time, but three & four figures for tickets is obscene!
I agree about the high ticket prices, but it's not just the Stones. You're talking about a side of business that is the same anywhere you look.If people will pay those prices, which they will, a business will charge that much.
