@intheworksmedia My analogy for these two guns would be comparing them to cars; the M249 is like an automatic, easier to learn and less to deal with whilst driving, whereas the M240B is like a manual, more things to worry about when on the move but, if you're willing to learn the clutch, she'll reward you with a very adaptable and high-quality ride.

first off, the m249 is a higher caliber then the m16a3, and has about the same fire rate. a little more actually it seems to me.

clearly..... you have not experienced the pleasure of an MG36. If anybody disagrees then you shouldnt be using the support class unless you go m249 bipod down a line of sight than thats understandable. Do bf3 showdowns between all the B2k weapon assignments. Although they are fairly clear, u know FAMAS, L96, G53, MG36, PP-19, it would still be cool.

i think that the 249 is better for team support on offense, where as the 240 is better for defending a position like on defense, however the 249 can do that as well, my edge goes to the 249

@NFSxViSioN the 249 has the same rate of fire and bullet caliber as the m16a3 in real life, I personally believe the m249 is a and assault rifle in a light machine gun category, really its just a m16a3 with a extended mag and a different recoil pattern. However I can see how you believe its overpower. I have beaten other players with assault rifles were I shouldn't have, therefore I try to use it as a support weapon on conquest or rush. There is probably some patching need for the m249

@NFSxViSioN It probably feels as if it only takes 2-3 bullets to kill in close range but usually I have to use about 20 rounds to actually take down somebody, I believe it as the same stats as the m16a3 at close range, just connecting those shot is the hard part based on rate of fire, also the recoil is inconstant

@TATARSTAN59500 The PKP is still the highest damage on Consoles, possibly on PC to. They nerfed the 7.62 round in general. Scar-H, G3A3, M240, M60. The PKP does 34 damage at close range whereas the other high powers only do 30. The PKP is amazing at any range in hardcore. 2 shot kill.

@MyCodAcc I think you mean "Why not". This game is simply amazing. If you like military FPS, this one will certainly satisfy you. It makes you feel like you're actually in a war. Great graphics, fast-paced, lots of guns, great ranking system, the game is overall very well done. And I only play on console ;)

@MyCodAcc One of the best games ever made. There are few flaws and many good features. Much better graphics than most other FPS's(like MW3), vehicles(In certain game modes, you can drive tanks, jets, and more), huge maps, much bigger than most other FPS's, realism(The guns are detailed near exact to reality and physics affect the bullets), and much more. The only bad parts are: vehicles only on certain game modes, a bit slower-paced action, and some minor non-game-breaking glitches.

M249 is my personal preference. Even on 360. Both are good with the bipod but one of my favorite setups is the 249 with a grip, red dot, and suppressor. It's great for closer range flanking because you can get the big sprays and are still off the radar.

Ever they nerfed the 240b its not as good as it once was! It used to kill at 3 bullets now at 4 and 6 at range. Where the 249 still kills at 3 bullets and 4 at range. But I still like the 240b over the 249

I prefer the M249. I like accurate weapons, long range shots > 1 or 2 less bullets to kill in my opinion. Besides, It was my favorite LMG in Bad Company 2 so im used to its style of play.

continuing from my last post, 7.62 is about stopping power with a good effective range, 5.56 is all about accurate firepower at a farther effective range. In short, as far as choice goes, you want 5.56 to take down people downrange, and 7.62 is about blowin people to bits

in real life, M249 and M240B are pretty much the same, except for the round they fire, M240B shoots 7.62 NATO(.308 US customary system) and the M249 shoots 5.56 NATO (.223 US customary system). If you don't know the difference, I can attempt to put it into perspective: M16/M4=5.56(.223) M14=7.62(.308)

*7.62 can be noted for .308 and .30-06 commercially, to tell the difference, you would check the secondary number, .308=7.62x51mm .30-06=7.62x63mm.

@ratedtriplex MP7 high rate of fire makes you run out of bullets really quick if you don't have ext magz, but once you get it you are all good! I love it in MW3 too. Wait till you get the AS-VAL, even though it has 21 bullets and no ext magz, you will like that even more!
