  • This isn't bad however I would recommend five times over this the Abbado Cenerentola (1981). Type in "zitto zitto desderi" here on YouTube and view the one whose thumbnail is dark. It really is awesome from both Araiza and Desderi.

  • Ahhh Rossini, che genio, cazzo!!!

  • Diego Flores, Brillante, y aun pude superarse.

  • nicely played and really good voices!

    A pity it's not available.

So extra thanks for posting it!!!!

  • tripekomin pleae post more of this opera with juan diego thanks

  • really well, many screw up this opera with ridiculous customes. This is good sining good acting and a nice production

  • magnificamente fantastico

  • what are the female voice parts in this?

  • Siempre Juan Diego tan impresionante...

  • Me encanta la voz de juan diego. Corbelli es un enorme actor comico. Y encima Cenerentola me enamoro de Rossini. Que grandioso y afable genio. Escribia felicidad.

  • Y a quienes estás viendo???

  • zitti,zitti senza voce...

  • What an incomparable pair! Surely the best version of this duo I have seen or heard.

  • Excelente

XD

  • Corbelli é fantastico, come sempre.

  • Grandissimo Corbelli

  • does anybody knows the name of the men that represents dandini?

  • Alessandro Corbelli - Baritone

  • thanks! love his voice!

  • ame a florez!

  • Florez is awesome! :)

  • wow....

  • where is this 4rm .. i like it!

  • I like it with a soprano

  • @tripekomin que imbecil, I like it with a soprano!!!

  • @tripekomin yes it begins as a tenor/baritone duet but the ladies join them.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if this was Corbelli's last Dandini. He's starting to look old for the part.

  • the costumes and hairstyles on the girls is almost identical to the movie version with araiza and von stade

  • Because Jean Pierre Ponnelle was the director of the film and of this piece... :)

  • well that certainly explains it

  • Excellent voices and superb feeling for the music!

  • All'amico la daro. Love that.

  • Francisco Araiza is the best Don Ramiro ever!

  • Araiza has so weight voice for rossini

  • Araiza is a Don Ramiro with balls!!

  • for this character rossini needs a light tenor, because the character must has a young voice, Don Ramiro is very young and if you heard Araiza, look like older.

many people prefer heavy voices because sounds like "a real male tenor" as Domingo or Pavarotty but the character is not like.

  • puxex, where is it writted that Mozart and Rossini tenors must have an androgin sound between castratti and angels? a Rossini tenor with a "male sound" is an asset!.

  • all experts says that florez is the best rossini tenor in our time. also in his time Luigi Alva was. the model to rossini tenor is Rubini who has a very ligth voice and very high notes, like a castratti but whit a natural voice. is not writted the history says.

  • Rubini had a ligth voice. he is death.

  • purex, in the late 70s through the 90s Francisco Araiza was considered the best Rossini tenor. When the experts refer to JDFas the best in our time they mean 2000 - 2008 and the reason here is the lack of tenors in this period of time. I can assure you 2010 everything is looking different. You can see young tenors like Mironov, Camarena and Albelo in the Rossini repertoire already schedule to sing at the Met, Scala, Viena, Paris...they all have heavier voices and a better technique than JDF.

  • Araiza is a great singer one of my prefers singers, but I know that the best rossini in 80's was Rockwell Blake, he is a real specialist on Rossini. Araiza sings Mozart ,Verdi and Gounod, so he needs heavier voice, he is a spinto tenor whit high notes, the rossini tenor is described as a light tenor. also Mironov has a voice very similar to Florez.

  • RW is a very good singer but he was allways considered behind Araiza. Araiza sang all the most important Rossini new productions in all big Opera Houses around the world, like La Scala where he sang the premiere of La Cenerentola that JDF sings today, Metropolitan , Viena, Salzburg Festival, Munich, Zurich, Tokyo, etc. FA also made the most recordings in that period of that time and he defined a new style of singing Rossini. That makes the difference between a great singer from a good singer.

  • puxex, by the way, could you please tell me who describes the Rossini tenor a a ligh tenor and where? for sure not Rossini!!

  • Sorry but fyi there is no such thing as a "real male tenor". The tenor voice as all voices are distinguished in categories depending on how dramatic or light they sound. On that basis they sing different repertory.

  • hablas español?

  • unfortunately not

  • Fantastico!

  • Grandissimo Rossini,in ogni caso.

  • This is awesome! Great video!

  • If you don't like it, don't watch it. Some people seem addicted to comment everything without having a slightest idea of what they're watching at all...

  • Dandini

Ma non diamo in bagattelle. *

    Maritarsi a due sorelle

    Tutte insieme non si può!

    Una sposo.

  • At the original Vocal Score it's written: "...Una sposa...E l'altra, e l'altra...all amico la daró..." Anyway I think it's a great performance on both artists.

  • Well, Corbelli was Dandini in virtually every good Cenerentola version of the last 25 years, so I think he knows what he does. I mean- the last part of Largo al Factotum is also different when you listen to different baritones (a te fortuna non manchera vs. fortunatissimo per verita)

  • He didn't mess it up at all. "Una sposo" means "I will marry only one" and not a male spouse. The singer is Alessandro Corbelli, an Italian himself, do you really think he'd make such a mistake in his native tongue? Don't criticize others before you know what you're talking about!

  • The libretto reads 'Una sposa', not 'Una sposo': obviously the subtitles here follow what Corbelli sang: either it was an error, or a change was made to the line, which is highly unlikely and inexplicable. Even for the 19th-Century audience 'Una sposo' would have sounded confusing, if not laughable ('Sposo una' makes sense, but in its inverted form it certainly doesn't). @gabhai7

  • OMG, here is one comment that shows how ignorance can be deceived in a seemingly educated discourse. "Una sposo" is perfect italian, even nowadays. What is laughable and confusing (and dangerous) is the way people try to rationalize the limits of their knowledge. Yours "libretto" was written by someone who didn't have a clue on what he was writing.

  • That's the correct text from the critical edition, the explanation from gabhai7 is correct!

  • great scene...

  • One of my favorite parts of Cenerentola. Florez sounds wonderful. Can anyone tell me who Dandini is? He's really good!

  • Excellent performance!

  • Ah, fantastic!

  • We don't know what year this was recorded, but Florez gets better every time I hear him. And let's not forget Alessando Corbelli who virtually owns the rold of Dondini.

  • The best belcantist tenor nowadays.

    No doubt about that.

I can't wait to see and hear him this sunday in Barcelona in this role!

  • hello, i fully agree with you !!! juan is simply the best !!!

how was the performance last sunday ? i'm going next wednesday january 2nd ... can't wait !!! thanks for your reply

    frank (belgium)

  • I like his Ah, mes amis better

  • have you also the sextuor "questo è un nodo avvuluppato" with the interpretation of florez? thank you

  • which edition is this?

  • Thank you, tripekomin, for posting this!I`m a fond of Rossini`s music, and this is a great stuff!Florez is good, but who is the baritone?Have you got any other parts of this stage? Please,if it is possible, post "Un segreto d`importanza" and "Come un ape".Many thanks))

  • The baritone is Alessandro Corbelli

  • Thank you very much, I am waiting for more

  • what is it about? translation, anyone?

  • Ok- I could be wrong- but... You know the story of Cinderella? The two women are the evil stepsisters. I think the prince and his valet are pretending to be each other and the vain women are only interested in who they think is the prince. Sotto voce, piano piano is quiet voice, quiet quiet. I'm sure there's more to it. Perhaps someone else will be able to add more.

  • On the other hand, the older guy could be their father? I'm really not sure! I'll find out though, I just took this CD out of the library.

  • Yeah that's exactly it. :D Essentially, the Prince wants to test the women in the kingdom to make sure that the woman he marries will love him for his good character, rather than his wealth, power, and title. And so he and his valet, Dandini, changed places to test them.

  • Juan is a good actor as well, isn't he? he is so good, very professional

  • This is cool! Can you please post when and where it was recorded? Is this from a commercially available DVD? Do you have more from it that you can post? Thanks for posting this!

  • La Scala, 2005, is not available, yes i have more and i will post (my english is very bad, jeje..)

  • Your English is molto bene. Io non parlo Italiano... Grazie per <posting> tutti gli videos! (vidii????) Mio Italiano is very bad... :)
