  • forgot to say thanks

  • @MrEvorocket ... heh heh...No Problem..U R Welcome

  • thats great will give it a go tomorrow, will i let tooling gelcoat set compleatly then rub it down or just when its turning? one more thing how thick should my tooling gel coat be on my master moulds?

  • hi i put all your help in to action worked a treat, thanks a million just one little problem i scratched a part of one of the master moulds when realising the part i wast taking the mould off it was very tight and i put a scratch in my tooling gel coat is their any way i can repair this ? thanks again

  • @MrEvorocket .... YES...Before Waxing the mold...Get tooling gelcoat and fill the scratch if its deep?..... then WET sand it down to meet the surface of the mold....starting with 400 then 600 then 1000 then 1500 grit wet / dry sand paper.... Then polish the mold and it should be fine...OR... Just be sure to wax the scratch area very well... then you will have to sand down the gelcoat from the part where the scratch is....

  • plasticine..eg kids play dow ..putty just as a filler for corner gaps etc.. thanks again for all your help and info,

  • thanks ,gasserglass,. i have a good general purpose resin just wanted to check before i purchased my materials , should i make the master mould all in one sitting is this best for all layers bonding together with the resin,or is it ok to let the resin go hard then add more layers or will this cause the lamination to seperate down the line,,ps is it ok to use plasticine to fill the gaps between the flanges ?

  • @MrEvorocket ... Not sure what plasticine is?.... I PREFER to lay TWO layers on my mold and let it cure before adding more layers.... ALSO, be sure to READ your resin can...If the resin has WAX in it, you MUST sand each cured layer of fiberglass before adding new layers... If NON WAX resin then no sanding between layers is necessary.... The first layer on a mold is called the LOCK LAYER to hold everything in place till you can ad more layers... Wish You The Best With Your Mold!

  • if i make a master mould using tooling gelcoat do i have to use a differant resin than the one i would use for making the part? or is it just the gel coats that differ from each other. thanks again for your help

  • @MrEvorocket .. YOU SHOULD use the best resin you can buy when making a mold...The same type as laminating resin but the best quality you can find...You want the mold strong and have little to NO SHRINKAGE in your mold or your parts wont be the original size... FRP-101 is a good choice for Mold Making and Laminating.... Don't use the cheap crap ever on anything..TONS of shrinkage will happen and a weak part will result... Simple Polyester Resin is fine.. But GOOD polyester resin!

  • would love to know the name of the song. Great video.

  • @markcrupi .... The name of the song is... MAGGOT BRAIN.... By The Funkadelics ..... pronounced - FUNK - A - DEL - IC's

It was a hit song on the Underground rock stations when I was a YOUNG teenager 13 or 14?.... FM Radio was fairly new then and HIPPIE ROAMED THE EARTH everywhere..... heh heh.... Yes, Its a good old Smoke A Doobie Song.... It was called Grass in my day..... heh heh....PEACE

  • thanks for that i had a look at the nut serts they look pretty smooth on the out side, will they stay in place when tighting and not turn inside the part? or do i have to secure them in matting or glue? thanks for all your help .

  • @MrEvorocket Adding some resin and a few strands of glass can only make the nut-sert stay even better.... But Ive never had a failing nut-sert in any hoods that we've made....Just use a GOOD QUALITY installation tool and make sure the sert is in all the way (expanded)... a cheap tool wont make the sert expand all the way...that is key!

  • hi have a question for you ,im looking to make a few parts in fiberglass but i will need to put nuts that i can thread bolts in to to mount the part how would you recomend i get the nuts to stay in place and not move after i have fiberglassed over them, thanks

  • @MrEvorocket ........... NUTCERTS or NUTSERTS .... Nut-Serts.... You can by a kit of all sizes and comes with an installation tool

  • Got a weird one for ya. I'm working on making some flares for my s10 blazer. The wheel wells have been opened up a good bit so nothing store bought is gonna work. I used foam and sanded that down till got the shapes I want. Now I'm gonna glass over that.

  • @neo71665 .......AT-A-BOY.....Nothing wrong with the way you're doing it!.... we all have ways of getting to the same place!

  • The thing is I'm gonna use a spray urethane resin to make the part so its gonna end up like rubber. For a fiberglass mold to make urethane resin parts is there any special steps to the mold I need to do. Hope I explained it good enough without writing a novel

  • @ganga2ful ...Maryland / PA/ DE areas..... Fiberglass Alley

  • okhere goes my question id like to build a full front end fender grill bumper and id like too know cost wise how much is it gonna cost me

  • @sweetconvic ....yup....LSD...Melts in your mind, Not in your hand

  • @GasserGlass what u talking about

  • good vid... but damn I felt like I should've been doing some acid while watching your video.

  • @ernestov ....... hahahahah..... I remember doing ACID in my teen years.... 1970's 80's .... 4 way window-Paine.... Micro dot * Strawberry Mescaline, * Real LSD and many more PURE trip stuff.... then it got all stupid with Sheets of paper called Green dragon etc.... the Good left overs from the 60s was best.......... heh hehehehehehe PEACE!

LSD, Melts in your mind, Not In Your Hand

  • absolutely the best fiberglass laminater that I have ever seen! * I'm new to YUOTUBE but have been in the fiberglass biz for 30 plus years making glass water craft to cars to UPS truck bodies. And I have never see somebody work so clean and fast with a perfect finished product, we could have used a guy on the line like you. Your the best Ive seen, Thanks for the video Gasserglass..

I heard some stories of a crack fiberglass guy living back east that works in a barn, could that be you?

  • @Captfiberglass .....Hahahaha...Thanks For The Complements........ You Keep Talking Like That And I'm Gonna Expect Some Flowers Too..... And Yes, I'm The Guy In The Barn

  • Real Cool...great tunes too!

  • Funkadelic - Maggot brain!!!

  • thanks for the videos.. I made a mold without using any kind of mold release. Any tips on how I can get this thing apart. i been trying for hours

  • @sosaj64 Start over - your part is ruined. I found this out the hard way. Its always best to start with a small part first and use cheap materials (mat & poly resin) and then get into bigger harder stuff when you get your system down. The internet is a good place to learn.

  • WHATS THE ARTISTS NAME ON THE TRAC COOL VID GREAT TUNE!

  • @bashue69 funkadalic-maggot brain

  • what kind of roller is that for the bubbles, i cant find it around here... nice vid also

  • How to's only work when you explain things.

  • PSYCHEDELIC MUSIC INSTEAD OF DIALOGUE

    THAT REALLY WORKS

    WAIT... NO IT DOESN'T

  • @GasserGlass you should teach classes or release a series of videos that people can purchase. I'm really interested in this and would like to sit and take notes.

  • @MrSSpoon713 ............ I have offers to make HOW TO VIDEOS but to date, the money isn't good enough

  • @GasserGlass hey im new to making fiberglass molds and stuff what kind of gel coat would you recommend to use

  • Hi there,

I want to make some fiberglass replicas of custom sink moulds I made. I am wondering how you go about finishing the bottom edge of the completed fiberglass replica. The fiberglass mould would need to sit perfectly flush on a flat surface all the way around just as the master mould does now. Is that hard to accomplish? Thanks so much!

  • @qstendious ............ You have to make a MULTI PART MOLD and copy the area that must be smooth also...or use some hand tools and smooth it yourself.

  • @GasserGlass

Thanks for the reply. Do your services include doing this sort of thing?

  • Thanks dude, awsomee now i can try making molds. That PVA stuff, is that excatly what it's called just straight up PVA. And another question. The part that you are gonna make a mold out of should it be sanded or have anything done to it before you spray the PVA on it ?

  • @punkyjunkykid .............. PART-ALL-10 is the PVA Brand Name and Part Number....PARTALL-10.............. Anything your gonna copy must be As Smooth as a baby's ass before you try to copy it.......THEN IT MUST BE WAXED with Mother PURE CARANUBA PASTE WAX....WAXED MANY TIMES...... THEN AND ONLY THEN DO YOU SPRAY ON THE PVA!!!!..... The first 3 or 4 coats of PVA should be just MIST COATS.....After that, you can spray it on like your painting a car...Remember that its like spraying water!

  • @GasserGlass Alrite i seee, so suppose like what you did here. before you sprayed the PVA, was the hood scoop in like perfect condition with paint and everything and then you just waxed it ? thanks,

  • @punkyjunkykid ....... YES..... However you have to wax a painted pat like 20 times before the PVA to make sure the gelcoat does not stick to the paint..if this happens, your screwed..... WAX-WAX-WAX-and Wax some more...OVERKILL IS THE NAME OF THE GAME.... Don't use ANY cheap Wax or your gonna have problems....

  • @GasserGlass Oh okay i get you. Thanks alot dude. You really helped, so its wax, wax, wax, wax, Then the pva coats and then the gel coat. sweet. oh and is lets say like turtle wax okay ?

  • I've got ADHD, the music and the sped up action helped me through this. :)

  • @DiscoQuinnDesign ............... Funny you say that... I had the very first Fiberglass vids on ebay but took them all off because people were stealing my designs..Anyway, I made everything in FAST MOTION so viewers wouldn't get sleepy....Now all the other copied my Fast Forward....... I AGREE that Faster is better when teaching...It keeps your attention for better learning..THANK YOU!

  • How did you get the resin so liquidy?

  • @47501770 .......... QUALITY RESIN COMES LIQUIDY or watery..... The Junk Resin you buy in the auto parts stores or hardware stores and the bottom of the barrel scrapings and more then likely a few years old already..... Good Quality Resin cost the same as the JUNK hardware store stuff.... Cheaper resin we use for very large projects etc.. is about half that cost and is also very Liquidy..... If its thick like molasses, its garbage and filled with Wax Fillers and other junk.

  • @GasserGlass Oh! Thank you. What brand do you recomend? Also is there a place I can buy some online?

  • go to....3-W's FiberglassSITE@ comcast . com ....... ASK FOR MIKE......Tell him you want the same POLYESTER resin that RANDY uses....I'm Randy.......... Be sure to mix or very gently shake the resin in the can before using.... (GOOD TIP ->) .. Pour 3 or 4 cups of resin out in a container first then shake whats in can GENTLY.... then pour the 4 cups of resin back into container to be sure its mixed..... otherwise it will be like water at first (not good). I also sell special resins nobody has.

  • FIBERGLASSsite . Com

  • hey how much would it cost to do a hood of a car,

If i were to buy all the stuff needed to make the mold and the material for the hood itself

  • What's PVA??

    Thank you!

  • @GiulianoGullini ......... PVA is a parting film that you spray on to produce a barrier between the mold and the part you are making....PVA is basically, Plastic that is dissolved in Alcohol..... You spray it on the mold and the Alcohol evaporates leaving the plastic film on the mold

  • @GasserGlass Thanx a lot my friend.I know it then, but in Italy we call it with a different name! Thanks again and greetings from Italy:-D

  • @GiulianoGullini ................ Greeting back to you also my friend....... We like to call it Liquid Trash Bag in a bottle....... Be cool

  • How do I get a clear mold from resin? Every time I use it, it has this orange color to it.

  • @EdBoonSucks ........... General or Normal lay up resin will yellow and will get even darker if too much hardener is used....... Also Depends on type of resin.....You need to use either EPOXY RESIN, CASTING RESIN or order some Crystal Clear Polyester resin from one of the fiberglass supply houses....Try FIBERGLASS COATINGS or FIBERGLAST

  • hey man, im just startin this whole fiberglass thing and i really need to know, that black watery stuff you use, what were and how do i get that stuff??? i dont mean to sound ametuer but i really need that stuff!!! thanks

  • Where can I fetch this stuff? I'm from Netherlands who can help me

  • That plug looks really good for something that was made 3" longer and 3" wider..

Not a mark on it showing where it was done.

  • @340NOS .........THANKS......... The parts was made and finished before making the mold....Thats why it looks good... as it should.

  • Just gotta say.. due to Gasser's series of videos that he's produced here on youtube over the last couple of years...

I and a business partner are now going into business producing rc airplane fuselages made from our own molds and plugs.

Pay attention cause Gasser's the man! Learned all we needed to know right here and maybe with a little trial and error on our parts.

Keep up the great work my fiberglassing bro! And thanks much for all the hard effort!!!

  • @rcflybry .......... I thank you for the kind words RCflyBRY........ I hope to uplaod more videos if I can figure out how to get my Movie Maker to work again.... Its giving me a fit!!!........... I have almost 20 videos to upload that cover EVERYTHING in DETAIL....Only thing I cant teach are all the little trade secrets.... I show 4 or 5 of them in the Vids but what good are they if I cant get them on YOUTUBE.... Any easy fixes to Windows Movie Maker for XP will be a HUGE HELP.

  • great video, but I gotta ask, what song is this? really catchy :)

  • @dylanpawl ........... THE SONG IN THIS VIDEO COMES FROM MY YOUNG TEEN YEARS..... Its Called ... "MAGGOT BRAIN" ... by the FUNK-A-DELICS ...... I first heard the song on late night HIPPIE RADIO STATION WKTK In Baltimore, Maryland circa 1971-72-73-74 -ish... Somewhere in there..... Some great guitar riffs for sure..... Laying on the water-bed with a mind full of LSD was the only way to listen to this music! ....heheheh heh heh

  • Can anyone tell me where I an get a roller like that to get rid of bubbles?

  • @MrAHerzing .... Try FIBERGLASSsite . com OR FIBERGLAST . com

  • Wow, amazing work. Thanks for the tutorial.

  • @NPogar ......Thanks

  • Isn´t white paper glue PVA?

  • @airride187 ........... NOT EVEN CLOSE

  • And what material should be my mold if i wish to make pieces from fiberglass? I guess on that Gelcoat-fiberglass molde can not be used for making pieces from fiberglass right?

  • @ronnin79 ........... Fiberglass parts come from fiberglass molds...as well as many other type molds.....most of my molds are made of FIBERGLASS

  • Great videos. I have a question. How thick do you put the gel coat on, and how long do you wait until you lay the first layer of glass? Then how many layer of CSM do you put on at a time and how long do you wait in between? Also do you have any videos on making complex molds and flanges? BTW the other video with Johnny Cash song was great (My new favorite song)

  • @Spooler6 ....... Gelcoat thickness for me is 6 mil to 8 mil thick...... What is CSM?

  • @almirlima07................what's that supposed to mean anyways?? Hey GasserGlass! I think he is a loss for words and doesn't know what he wants to say, but he did give you congrats?? Did you and you wife have a baby or something? hahahahahaha :-/ hmmmm not sure, but I wanted to say that you are the man! Fiberglass Genious Brother! I am needing some costume helmets made out of fiberglass, wish you were my neighbor, but have2 research myself :( thumbs up brother! Later

  • great video ...BTW what song is that??????

  • @vicious887 .... The song is "" MAGGOT BRAIN """ By the FUNK-A-DELICS..... Was a cool hippie song when I was a young Hippie...PEACE

  • @GasserGlass

    Still a Cool damn song!

  • great video ..btw what song is that ...its kick ass..

  • Is it possible to sculpt a styrofoam block into a scoop, fiberglass over it, and then use acetone to melt the foam afterwards?

  • YES & NO...Depends on the type of foam? Acetone will eat fiberglass resin BIG TIME!... Will eat Gelcoat too if it sit on it too long!

  • @2YuNg2Di You can try to keep from melting your foam plug by coating it with drywall mud (takes long to dry) or with bondo. Both will take sanding afterwards though. More prep work.

  • @2YuNg2Di .....SURE...... But even better is to get your shape in foam...then skim coat it with GOOD QUALITY BODY FILLER...Then sand it smooth or into the exact shap you want...Then make a mold of it..........YOUR WAY will take 3 times as long...a lot more sanding and a Whole Lot more messy!....But yes..you can do it the Old BIG DADDY ROTH WAY if you like.

  • fine job, your secret will last for generations throughout the world.

    Congratulations

  • @almirlima07 ........now thats funny

  • This mold has only 5 layers of 2 ounce as only 10 or 20 parts will be made from it.....It would be thicker if I were going to make 100 parts

  • question whats is the pva like whats the definition is it like a primer sealer?? and with the gel can i use an over the counter in my hvlp thanks alot for all the info you gave i look forward to hearing from you and seeing more vids

  • PVA is a Liquid Plastic that is mixed with alcohol...when sprayed, the Alcohol then evaporates and the plastic dries on the part or mold creating a flim so the glass woth stick to the glass.

  • Thankyou so much for uploading these vids again. They are the best.

  • Thanks

  • That is a nice mold. Some of the best DIY vids on youtube.

  • Thanks

  • représentation pédagogique des différentes phases d'un moulage statifié au pistolet.

  • i need baby steps cuz idk what anything is and what to get, trying to learn

  • Thanks! I could watch this shit all day..

  • And I Could Make These All Day!

  • How do you market your products? Do you advertise? I've been working w/glass for a long time repairing tubs/showers (not as fun as it used to be, and a hell of a lot of fumes in a small area) want to step it up to something more creative. I like your one legged egg beater, that was pretty cool!

  • Cool stuff!!

  • great video thanks for sharing
