  • i remember when DCI came to TX '07, man did Phantom show their asses....Watching the hard work put in by these dedicated musicians in the lot only made me want to better myself. The thump, and sound quailty PM posses,FTW

  • yeah a lil, i want my band instructor to get us snares like that... :) i love them

  • Does this seem down tempo?

  • Geez, Paul Rennick loves those grandmas with the accents on drum 4 and taps on spock.

  • i dont care how u put it, that lick is off the hook.

  • What sticks are they using? Are they Paul Rennicks?

  • You must be on something

  • Kick ass....

  • holy nuts.

that was clean as a mug.

  • this is just fun to watch. relaxed, matched heights, even the tenors from the back you can tell they are chill (and it sounds good, too) great instruction all the way!

  • Yeah "the judge." You realize BD won every night of finals week and were winning or second all season. I doubt every judge that put BD in first took one semester of percussion (and the finals judge knows what he's talking about, as he's been judging for years). I would have had Phantom in first but, hey, they know more than me.

  • The difficulty of what BD does paired with how well they execute it was why they won. and that goes for the pit and battery.

  • yeah, definitely better than BD..

  • Goodby Pearl, hello Dynasty. I'm gonna miss you.... :(

  • my drum instructor is endorsed by innovative hes always giving us sticks and mallets we have to give him money though but there a good choice for marching percussion i love the bass mallets

  • god Rennick is such and amazing arranger/composer. listen to that awesome and grooving juxtaposition at 205 (its like a sweet call and response between the tenors basses and snares

  • i like all the hocket parts they have in there show its so cool.

  • are they using the paul rennick model innovative sticks?

  • yes, we use them too =]

  • sweet i just bought some of those they are awesome!!!!

  • i know!! i love them they are the only innovative sticks i like.

  • dude fuck bd! get out here with that im sick and tired of them

  • totally agree. BD has been boring since 1998

  • BD'S HEIGHTS PUT THEIRS TO SHAME!!!!

  • ha. phantom puts BD's sound quality, execution, and musicality to shame.

  • what?...BD has sound quality, execution, and musicality?...where was I when this was going on?

  • I never said that BD didn't have those things. I'm just saying that phantom is at a much higher level than BD when it comes to those things. I meant to post this comment as a reply to popcornman, but I mest up. read popcornman's comment.

  • no i was jk. but besides being clean from player to player, idk how BD won percussion

  • haha. OH :-)

  • does anyone know the name of that cadence??

  • i would love to march phantom snare line. one of my dreams

  • liking the buzz rolls

  • JEEZ, those tenors are NICE!!!

  • AHHHHH jared starcher

  • stick heights**

  • lol sticks are so effin perfect

  • as do they in North Texas...

  • way to go, little bro! see you in pasadena. keep dominating, kid

  • I still cant believe that BD is ahead of THAT

  • not anymore they jumped up 3 spots

  • Either way, they're both young and like you said it is a huge honor to be center for PR!

  • The center quad is that Dan Rainbow guy. He marched Groove Pursuit with that Dan sailer guy. I saw them in the lot and it its the same dude. I don't know where you got this robert free dude. He might march the line, but that doesn't mean he's center.

  • so then my friend who is end right tenor lying? im not going to act like an expert on people in the line but i'll ask him when they get back from tour who was center quad. because those names dont even sound familiar.

  • I don't mean to call you a liar or anything, but i've been marching groove with the two dans since 2003, and i've been talking with them about phantom for the last two years. (Dan Rainbow was the end quad last year).

  • ok. i dont i'll ask Jon and see what the deal is. because for some reason i thought i heard him talk alot about Robby Free and how he was the center quad. maybe he got moved down for some reason? who knows. still though what ever position you are its a HUGE honor to make the Phantom Regiment battery.

  • No doubt man, phantom is just insane, props to everyone!

  • I'm 100% positive that Dan Rainbow is the center quad. Robert Free is to his right (if you are facing the line... just for clarity). He also goes by Robbie. He won PASIC 2004 as a 15 year old high school sophomore. Check out the encore on YouTube. FYI - Shane Snyder is on Robert's right... and both played at Marcus High in North Texas.

  • yeah i was told today that Dan Rainbow is the center quad... so that was my douche bag mistake in earlier posts... so if Dan were to ever see those posts my appologies to you... but still... to be that young on regiment tenor line... is phantastic...

  • sounds a lot like 04 book

  • he's 16, Dan Sailer! marched WGI Groove Pursuit! from sioux falls SD, Lincoln!

  • if your talking about the center quad then you are absolutely wrong... my friend jon is marching that line. the center quad is Robert Free from marcus high school in north texas... and he's 17... so who ever your talking about is in sioux falls lying his ass off about bullshit...

  • Dude, the center quad is Dan Rainbow (18) from Sioux Falls, and the end snare on the right side is Dan Sailer (16), also from Sioux Falls. Rainbow just graduated from Lincoln High and is going to University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

  • there was kid on the tenor line that looked 16-ish. That makes me say, damn.

  • Hes on this site, its Paul I think, he plays Double Beat with that one dude on snare perfectly...

  • he's 17... and he's the center quad...

  • I am perplexed by how exact all of the snare line's sticks are

  • the beauty of that is Rennick's technique program. He doesn't use a specified fulcrum technique, and he doesn't focus stick heights as a sound quality issue...he focuses them for visual effect. His technique is relaxed allowing for speed at low heights...the faster the stroke, the louder the volume. Paul is a genius:]] And it's easy to grasp...trust me:D

  • THANK YOU! :-)

  • lol... i was still such a scrub at 15.

  • Yeah- Find me another line that tunes their drums with this much exposure, and then plays threes that fast and clean with a crescendo.

  • i'm tired of people creaming themselves over phantom's frenches. other people are playing threes too, believe it or not.

  • there is a big difference between just playing them and playing them with cleanliness and quality which is what phantom has consistantly done over the years in my opinion!

  • ThreeThreeThreeThreeSHOT!

  • haha, isnt it gorgeous?

  • the guy we are looking at was a sophomore in high school this past year. was 15 at all the camps. the next joe house im sure. props dan sailer! from brandon guerra!

  • Thats pretty incredible. Although he does look like he could be any age from 15-20 from this angle...

  • thats incredibly insane... that would be like me trying out next year... but i dont have the money OR the chops... Do you know the school that he's from???

  • yeah he goes to lincoln high school...class of 09 im pretty sure. its in sioux falls SD
