  • nice fly i was just bothered by how aggressive you tie

  • Nice tye. What vise are you using...???

  • belive it or not, i caught a 6.5 lbs 27 inch largemouth on this fly... CHECK OUT MY VIDEO!

  • why must people argue about little things. There are so many different ways to tie prince Nymphs and you could have five different styles in your box and be all the better for it. use his pattern and add it to your arsenal. Use these videos to better your tying and learn new ways to tie what you already know. like the guy said no one wins when you argue on the internet. great fly man! im fixing to sit down and tie that version.

  • @cancerkid888 The prince can be tied a number of ways. I do not know why arguing? Heck, bead head prince? Yes, they were big out west in 97.

Most of us tie flies for our own local waters. I think one could use Randall Kaufman's 1975-76 nymph tying manual and fish anywhere.

  • Holy Half Hitches Batman! Learn to whip finish by hand, its faster, stronger, and easy.

  • definately doesnt look like my princes but hey weve all got our own version and if it works who gives a ratt's ass.

  • So true! That's all that matters is that it catches fish. Especially if it works on the smart old natives.

  • yea :)

  • Hey is that an Eagle Claw hook he is using?

  • Worst attempt at a Prince nymph I have ever seen...sad.

  • just cause you don't have a clue what you're looking at doesn't mean it's a bad prince nymph. there is absolutely nothing wrong with this pattern. some people have the skill and knowledge to do things a little different then 99% of all the other poser fly tyers and fisherman. you're a retard and wouldn't know a good fly if you casted poorly and the fly smacked you in the face.

  • If you're actually being serious then YOU are the retard. I have been tying flies for 30 years and presently tying professionally. What is a poser fly tier? One who knows the actual proportions of a natural fly and knows how to make an imitation? This is tied more like a wet fly or a soft hackle emerger than a nymph and I'm sure it will catch fish. The true prince NYMPH is tied with the hackle trimmed on top or tied down and the white goose biots tied so they are close to the body not up.

  • But since this is considered an attractor pattern it is not meant to immitate any particular fly. It can be used as a stonefly, cased caddis, isonychia nymph or mayfly nymph in the "pre-hatch" stage. The white biots can mimick the nymphs shell splitting as the fly is emerging that is why it is usually tied close to the body.

  • The body was not tapered properly, could have been thicker by the thorax and the head was sloppy also.

  • wow, it's nice to know you can use google and look up information lol. stfu fail

  • Give it up loser. If you wanna play with the big boys first get an education.

  • I learned from books and professional tyers before there was google. But you should try using google and see if you can at least learn some of the basics of fly tying. Try looking up Entomology too while you're at it.

  • i know what entomology is, and a prince nymph isn't a specific pattern, it's an imitation of about 3 or 4 different insects. therefore the prince nymph can be tied a few different ways and still be a prince nymph as long as it sticks to the basic principals. why don't you walk into any flyshop on the planet and tell the clerk "hi i want a prince nymph" guaranteed 100% he's going to say "oh we have a few to choose from"

  • I stated that two weeks ago and I totally agree with you.

  • because the average flyshop has probably 5-10 different prince nymphs and they're ALL prince nymphs.

  • Then this guy should have titled this video "My version of a Prince Nymph" not - "How to tie a Prince Nymph".

  • well it's titled "how to tie A prince nymph" not "how to tie THE prince nymph" so by that argument i win by technicality lol. but as far as internet arguments go, there can be no winners so we both are losers.

  • you're trying to tell me if i tie a prince nymph the same way david prince did but instead of using gold wire i use gold tinsel that it's no longer a prince nymph? you're fucking out to lunch man. take your head out of your ass

  • I'm not wasting my time with you anymore because your I.Q. is in the basement. You have totally missed my point. I wasn't talking about materials. I was talking about FORM. I know there are prince nymphs tied using different materials. Also, I just got back from the stream and I did very well today on MY flies so I know they work. As I looked around me I didn't see any other fly fisherman catching anything. So you go and make your flies however you like and good luck.

  • I know this is the furthest thing from and attractor pattern prince NYMPH i have seen and im a noob fly tier. I tie em with white and brown goose biots, peacock herl and all. Goose biots are HELL working with hahaha

  • A trick some tyers use is to "pre-glue" the biots together in the "V" shape using flex cement . Let them dry and then tie them on. It also helps to make a small ball of built up thread at the bend of the hook under the tail. This helps to spread and keep the tail upright. Have a good solid base under the wings and don't make the first few thread wraps too tight or they stick up and there shouldn't be hackle under them pushing them up. Also try thin copper wire as a solid "under body" .

  • very nice

  • whats the song name

im gonna tie some up and see whether they work on scottish trout

    Niceee tiee though

  • the fly looks good but you should have called it something different like prince[whatever your name is] nymph. it shouldn't be called the prince nymph because it wasn't built up big enough and the head should have been gold, and the hackle would have looked alot better if it was a brown or dark red color

  • its called a prince nymph because thats what it is. its not his pattern to name

  • Thatta' boy, good lookin' bug.

  • i dont think it matters because i have caught fish just by coloring ear plugs and putting them on hooks

  • ive seen some pretty ugly flies catch fish and this guys flies are actually pretty good! proportions may be a little off but honestly i don't think the fish care much

  • You guys are fly fishing snobs. It'll certainly catch a fish. Thats what it's all about.

  • ????

  • @flyfishingtwins I love the prince because it inadvertantly matches a lot of different larvae and can be used like a streamer after dark. It's a super deadly fly when used by knowledgable fishermen and for more than just trout. It is a panfish killer and sweet when white bass are feedind on may fly nymphs over open water or crappie in the same situation. One of my top ten definitely but also effective in ways people don't realize. They will be taken in the right conditions by channel cats.

  • That is a very poor example of a Prince nymph. Thorax was not built up enough, not enough bulk to it. Also many wasted movements, not efficient at all, getting the tinsel tangled good grief!

  • pretty sure the head is always gold.

  • you can use a bead for the head but i dont have beads small enough

  • i think the hackle is a little big, and it works better with a bead head
