  • @21min56secs Quicker? or Faster? A strange comparison either way, the Veyron and its owners more than likely view the 1/4m as a trivial figure; nothing at all against this Z, I think its a crazy Z.

    A "base" Veyron traps around 148mph (R&T goofed), the SS is said to trap over 155mph and et high 9's; but the Veyron does INSANE things at 150++mph. Yes I know how much they cost, but you are comparing a car thats was set up for drag racing to a car that was purpose built as a high-tech uber GT.

  • Lack of traction in your car.  The spinning tires, are what causes the rear end to swing.

  • Lots more than you have. 265 is small. 18 inch has a low sidewall. Y rated is a street tire. The car in the video is on a Mickey Thompson drag radial. Its an auto car and doesn't shock the driveline.

    Its all about traction. The spinning of the tires causes the rear end to walk around. If you don't spin the tires, the car won't walk.

  • Buy another car ? Just kidding. They are pretty simple the 02 sensors, just not that cheap. The early stuff is 2 wire NTK sensors. Its not anything that difficult or complicated, but I would have to look at a Z as I really dont work on them much.

  • piece of cake. connector is in engine back and O2 sensor is underneath. self explanatory

  • @andrew190e is it driver or passenger drivers harder you can just see it on the header under the dash very hard to replace but you can find the sensor on ebay for about 40 bucks they work fine just did mine got like 4 mpg better

  • Buying a '90 model 300ZX Twin Turbo back in 2005 was one of the worst mistakes I've ever made. Unless you can work on it yourself and have shitloads of money to keep throwing at it, don't buy one.

  • Actually the key to a 300zx is planning what you do not just jumping in eyes closed for the money it takes to get a Z fairly quick (ie 12 sec car) takes alot less than buying a 12sec car. Not to mention it looks sexier to me than alot of the production cars that are currently made IMO. What other car can you get 410rwp with maintenance and a tune Bone stock. Ive got 10.5k total in mine including purchase of the car roughly 490whp will at Z nationals next month

  • Yeah, works out for some people I guess, altho I don't see how. I just got screwed over badly, in every way possible along the way. Finally had to pull the plug and give up. The car has been sitting in the same spot for like 3 years. I poured shitloads into it and have 3500 lbs of worthless metal. :(

  • Its Ryan Carwins Toyota Corolla. Not sure what engine he is running in it, but hes been running the same car for years. I think all kinds of engine setups. Its a solid low 11 second, high 10 second car.

  • You do understand the concept of power to weight ratios right. Most Late 60's Early 70's Japanese cars are really light. We'll use the 240Z's(First Z car) weight is under 2300 pounds now compare that to a 300ZX(Z32) that weighs a little over 3300. Then take into consideration that just about anything you want can be fit into a 240Z from an LSX motor to SR20's and RB's. Now think what a 500hp civic will do, now imagine that with RWD(AKA more traction) and a lot more torque.

  • ager1- Everything you said was dumb. That old car was obviously restored with new engine/parts making it comparable to the newer turbo'd Z. Lambo and ferrari's can NOT run 10's stock. FYI only douche bags drag those over-priced imports.

  • Why do rice fans always talk shit about euro cars? Yeah you can make Japanese cars fast, but by the time your civic is running 11 seconds you dont even really have a civic anymore except for the body shell.. And for the money it would cost you could get a vette and run 11s all day long, stock, with no worries about your turbos blowing up your motor. Ferraris and Lambos can do 11s all day too, and what sounds nicer.. Ferrari, Lamborghini ... Nissan? You know youd race it too if you had one ;)

  • Its still a cheap car and will have problems. Maybe the engine would be reliable, but can you also buy a new transmission, axles, suspension etc for that price? no, and things would break. It isnt like a video game where you can take a stock motor and slap a turbo on it and run it for years with no worries, welcome to the real world

    I bought it for $400, spent a total of about 10k on it, thats fully built motor, full interior, sound, suspension, everything its not even stripped out for weight and I havnt found a Honda that can keep up yet. Plus it sounds 100 times better than any Honda 4 banger out there

  • actually, I didnt say it was slow you can make anything fast hell you can make a geo metro fast but so what. I applaud being different but at the end of the day the BEETLE is not a masculine car. I have a total of 10,500 in my Z including the cost of the car approx 500whp @3300lbs.

  • I guess I just don't feel the need to have a car that other people judge to be "manly enough".. I wouldn't say Civics, Sentras, or any of the other dozens of econobox-turned-street racer cars are any more 'masculine' than a Beetle.

    Thats pretty good power for the money you got there, right now I have maybe 115whp with an old 1.6, but I'm currently building a 2400cc that will have around 230whp. Car weighs only 1800-1900lbs rwd I cant wait haha

  • It would be all motor, at least for now. I wouldn't use any kind of forced induction unless I had a backup car, simply because i have to commute an hour and a half round trip 5 days a week for uni. Maybe someday haha

  • Lower the compression and boost it. It will be just as reliable and you'll get better gas mileage out of boost. My 300zx was NA when I got it 10.5:1 compression when I converted it to twin 8.5:1 compression is just as reliable and better avg gas mileage. You generally are not in boost most of the time

  • The K20 isnt cheap cheap motor I boosted a K20 in a 07 civic si was professionally tuned. I would line him up against a c5 anyday at 12psi 332whp in a 2600 lb car with top of the line suspension

  • mate realistically your going to have paid 15 grand for a car that everybody owns and looks at and thinks.. cool another P plater.. why not the vette.. realiable fast car..cost more but your buying reliablility.. I work with a holden VR commodore drag car making 750horses out of a 350.. can run tens but we lauched it at about 3500rpm with slicks.. twisted the chassis.. floor pan came away from the wheel arch and smashed thw windscreen... even with the cage... bugs can be super super fast!!!!!!!!

I paid 7k for my 99 ws6. for about another 6 I could run 10's all day long and still keep it as my dd. my buddy has a 00 camaro with a 408 stroker pushing 12 psi. well over 1000 hp. ran a 7.49 @ 139 in the 1000ft...little shorter than a 1/4
