Heading up north in our 1967 hr holden for a new years bash happy new year to all classic car lovers hope 2011 will be other great year for on going projects
@herbienbrian its not negative, i didint mean it like "oh screw this shit there are puppy's that need a home" i was just asking why you chose this song. get your head straight people.
well in that case forgive me, you've asked a legitimate question without any harm. Basicly when I chose the song I guess I was trying to do a spoof of the animal commercial, but it turns out there really is a large group of people who have a lot of sympathy for old cars in junk yards.
I know I get a little sad when I pass by a wreking yard with good usable cars just rotting away.
@herbienbrian Hey my friend has a property in gauss Texas and right on the border of the property, there is a 1932 ford V8, enclosed in trees and bushes. i syphilize for the old car alot when im over there, and have made countless attempts to drag it out of there and restore it to its original condition, its engine looks like if you clean it a bit, put new plugs and in and a battery it would run as is. just need to get it on a trailer though.
@herbienbrian Not yet, i haven't been there in almost a year but he took some photos for me, and its the same as it was. but i'm sure when i get down there again, i could just plop it on any trailer and drive it home.
@gasflame62 This song was not written for the ASPCA. It was a song that was written for a movie i think. I know it was on her first album long before those commercials.
man, this has to be one of the coolest videos on old cars i've seen yet. very good that you did this. it breaks my heart when i see these oldies left for dead. guys like you keep them from being lost and gone forever. whenever i walk through this type of yard i feel theyre quietly saying these things like in your vid. very, very nicely put together man. such heart-grabbing statements; "i could shine again". i can tell you really love these old beautys. thanks for putting it out there brother !
in 1983 when i left school i worked at nz carwreakers in Auckland and saw a beat up 1967 hr holden and loved them ever since now at 41 i have resored one to show room condistion rebuilding old car gives me total satisfactin american pre 1970 are fetching $ 20k nz even before they roll off the boat those americam wreaks are worth a bomb here in nz thanks for reading cheers the happy kiwi
I just wanted to go ahead and thank everyone for all the great comments. I've gotten numerous emails, PM's, and thumbs up from people telling me about how they found this posted on forums accross the web and just how much they liked it, how it made them remember their favorite car from the past.
keep building, restoring, and saving guys. These old hulks are up against a lot, elements, Prius driving govorntment officals, and crushers. We can't save them all, but we can make a difference.
I wish I could go back in time to stop my dad from selling our '63 Catalina. It would have taken a lot of work, but I would have eventually got it straight. I now have a Bonneviile (66) because of that car, I loved it and the one I have now! It would be so cool to have that Catalina though. (learned to drive in it) Even if It could not have saved (it had been wrecked by my sister, was rusty, windows broken etc,it would have been a great parts car! Both had 389 and shared many driveline parts.
Even though some of those cars are in such bad shape beyond restoration,i would much rather see them sit and rest peacefully rather than be sold for scrap, and made into something like the new worthless flimsy pieces of shit we have now. Some can be restored and be beautiful driveable cars again.Rest in peace old timers.
@turbofarmer there is no such thing as 'beyond restoration' vehicle. The reason why most people say that is because a basket case of a car full of rust and crud is extremly expensive to repair. Me and my brother restored an Italian car, an Alfa Romeo Montreal which cost a fortune to restored as here in England old ancient cars just disintergrate in the apaling weather and roads are salted in the winter months to keep ice off the roads but cause rust. It was a total dog to restore but we did it.
yea yea to leftbank2 ur right but what abough ur stupid preius is like 4 years old thoes cars are 30 to almost 100 years old and still work would u rather go ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh stupid gass guzzlers with ur stupid preius or actuly bring a car back to life and dude chikis dig the oldies not stupid electirc preiuses
trust me, you are never to young to start building cars. I bolted on the head of a chevy big block when I was 8, helped rebuild the brakes on a 68 mustang when I was 9, and I've been restoring my old bug since I was 12.
not to mention I had hundreds of smaller projects when I was younger. Now is the best time to start :)
@herbienbrian good video, sends a message but there are these stupid adverts that pop up that shows me what i look like if i was a cartoon and other google ads telling me to 'junk my car'.
@herbienbrian Same with me dude when I was 12/13 I got my first project 1959 Mercury Commuter SW beatiful car but it was just to much for me and it was to far gone....I'm 15 now and I have a 1959 Ford Fairlane.
my dad would shit a brick if he saw those two 442's like that. he has a 76 442 W30 with a 455 in it. 1 of 6 in canada and 1 of 14 in North America with the options on it. if he saw those 2 cars he would save them. he has already saved about 5 442's. u can go on google and under images look up "ken pilidis 442"
thanks. he never restored it tho. he got it in 1977 and kept it up. its original. brought me home from the hospital. he has sold the vette and looking for some other project now.
tool time did this , im eleven and I have loved cars all my life and i come from a family who cant replace a tire!!! I wish i had some money , maby 300 bucks to pick up a gocart or something im freaking bored in a urban place i want to be rural!!!!
Nah, the bleeding heart socialist yippe liberals would rather dive their prius's. *laughs uncontrollably* It really is a shame to see all those old cars like that. People preach about recycling, Why not reuse these old beauties, & stop making those crappy electric plastic cars...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I think you are kind of weird. These are cars. CARS. Not humanbeings. Some people buy a dog when there is no love. You buy a polluting Volkswagen. And your songs...come on! Get real man.
yeah i know where the diffrence could of been made years ago its not are fault at all those demo derbys with perfect cars being destroyed and now everyone is trying to restore something from back then is that amazing or what alot of people cry about what they did back then nobody wants to get rid of a solid cars that will last forever compared to todays junk cars throw away cars because we threw away old cars and we didnt try to save them the government is saying who cares make new cars ........
the thing here is... a bug in mexico should be very very lucky, cause in the production line back in like... well like 5 years ago, you could either be bought by an amazing owner who had a ton of plans for the bug... or you could be a really shitty bad owner and destroy your bug in 2 or 5 years... the luck of the bugs...
yah bro, mine had like no engine what so ever, the last owner treated mine like it was a hummer haha, the rims were all fucked up, the suspension, the height, everything, but its a looker now like i told yah, and i was talking with my gf last night... gosh, i live in mexico man, and we have bugs EVEEEEERYWHERE, there are some really amazing bugs laying around, but also some really shitty, and they arent even that old....
totally absolutely inspiring, my bug was absolutely brought back to life, it was abandoned in a field, i put the engine in it, a transmition, re painted it, everrrything, its a looker now, she still fails whenever i dont giver her a lof of attention, mainly cause her last owner treated her like crap, it was all crashed and filled with newspapers
thank you very much. I pretty much brought my bug back from the brink of death, when I changed the oil for the first time only half a quart of black chunky goop came out.
true put it this way theres alot of old running cars or easy fixers brakes and other parts are cheaper and there real metal and if people want a sound system and navigation learn the road u useless tards how u think we got to this junctour, old ones cost less last longer and ya dont have to take them to a shop to have serviced and only thing that can go wrong is gas or electrical not hard to find a problem in one of to areas! i hate new cars and especially imports,LOL there not cheaper dumbasses
exactly. New cars if you want to tune them you have to spend $500 and void your warrenty, old ones its just a simple turn of a screw driver on the carb
thanks for the video i wish i was very wealthy i would save the old cars im already saveing old cars check out my videos i have 4 old vehicles well the oldest is a 72 buick skylark it feels so good when someone comes up to me and says awesome car i want one i tell them buy one before they go to the demo derby or are crushed up well atleast i put in a good word ive already seen a few more realy nice old cars in my area and some restorations going on thank god for the car designers back then......
thanks herbien brian, k heres the case in point, im looking now at snagging a 1980 Firebird with shaker hood comes with a orginal fiberglass 74 TA hood with dual ram air B&M shifter and alot of other goodies bringing my total to 10 cars now, different you roll up with a beat up old car girls know they want in, i also bought a 83 rampage direct connection, in 10 years i swear all muslce and old cars will not be barn and alley finds anymore! savem while you can im 19 and not rich anyone can do it
these a bit of property about 20mins away from my house and it is full, ultimetly full of old rusty bugs from 1955 to 1971 absolutly fulll....im thinking i am gonna get one and fix it up...i am only 12... so dad can help lol. i would look around for a 62-63
We've got a '73 Superbeetle we saved from a Junkyard. I've got a '70 Chevy truck now that I bought last month, I saved it, because it was really a great body but barely run and drove. Now it runs perfect and drives wonderful..got a 307 in it thats supposed to be built. got a Holley 600 on it, headers. Factory P/S, P/B and a factory tach even. Anyway, I know where an all original '58 Chevy BelAir is.matching numbers even. its been setting in the same spot since the 60s. the guy won't sell it.
haha yup dont beat em to hard but i drive them show the kids of today you can have more fun look cooler and cruise better in a old car for less and most of them are for sale in alleys and under peoples noses haha
Yeah! i got my first car when i turned 14. Sadly there was TOO much rust on it..it was a 73' Beetle that have spent her years under a tree in nine years..but i had a fun time bringing her to life again. Added some gas in the carb and turned the key around..i was speechless when i heard her start for the first time. i owned the Beetle only two years and sold her in parts.i still have pictures of it when we got it on a trailer. =)
think each car in here and any car always ment something to someone weather it was there first new cars there first car ever or memories they had with there dad, its history and will be around longer and mean more then some recyclable honda civic, ive saved 13 cars and im a young guy we do learn, haha
yup i have 5 rate now 72 SST javelin,80camaro,1972 cultass supreme, 2 69 newports, and i sent my 1979 RS 4 speed camaro,1980 Z-28,1967 buick wildcat 2door hardtop,1970 fury 3,2other 1980-81 Z28's all to good homes my 70 fury was restored but was a kidney foundation drop off at the local junkyard was Mint even had the green plush interior and working AC was an estate claim she just needed brakes was a great grab before they almost sent it to the parts bin now it has a great home!
ya all my dumb friends like civics and that shit they spend 20G to make there car mildly quick and body kits to try and improve the look muslce cars and old cars were desgined cool had the power and style to cruise and were made right thats why they last and people are more impressed to see them put a 1967 wildcat beside a integra and tell me whats more sexier if you pick the integra you dont belong,LOL
The other thing as well its cheaper to pick up a beater you get usually more HP more metal and a history for like 2G because people dont seem to realize things and you can have more fun more reliable and if it does have a problem its usually easy to fix dont got to remove the motor to change spark plugs haha
I think part of the reason I made this could be the fact that I had to watch my dads old 4 door 65 caprice get crushed, it was my favorite car though I'll never know why. He made me watch it, like it would be fun....but it wasn't. All I have to remember of that car is a twisted horn ring. T.T
sarah mclachlin was famous for about umm a month. yep. just dont abuse your pets...bastards.

haha yup dont beat em to hard but i drive them show the kids of today you can have more fun look cooler and cruise better in a old car for less and most of them are for sale in alleys and under peoples noses haha

I'd rather drive an old car that barely runs than a new car that runs fine, wheres the fun in that.
herbienbrian 3 years ago
ya and the best thing is the old ones got metal dashes usually with detailed NON plastic door panels and sometimes you get nice plushy seats, lol
J4BBL 3 years ago
ahh, my favorite word, "no plastic"
herbienbrian 3 years ago
haha ya my old camaro about the only thing plastic is the inner dash housing and maybe my cowl hood peice and grill insert

Yeah! i got my first car when i turned 14. =)

ya all my dumb friends like civics and that shit they spend 20G to make there car mildly quick and body kits to try and improve the look muslce cars and old cars were desgined cool had the power and style to cruise and were made right thats why they last and people are more impressed to see them put a 1967 wildcat beside a integra and tell me whats more sexier if you pick the integra you dont belong,LOL
J4BBL 3 years ago
The other thing as well its cheaper to pick up a beater you get usually more HP more metal and a history for like 2G because people dont seem to realize things and you can have more fun more reliable and if it does have a problem its usually easy to fix dont got to remove the motor to change spark plugs haha

exactly, all my dad ever did was buy $300 american steel, got it running, drove the snot out of it then sold it to a good home.

I think part of the reason I made this could be the fact that I had to watch my dads old 4 door 65 caprice get crushed, it was my favorite car though I'll never know why. He made me watch it, like it would be fun....but it wasn't. All I have to remember of that car is a twisted horn ring. T.T
