It's times like this when I don't like the way British TV works. An active series will have an odd collection of 6 or 8 episodes here and there, sometimes broadcast close together, sometimes with years between one "season" and the next, but with no reliable word from series to series whether you'll see a new one. The storytelling and writing is better than the average American show, but I wish they followed a set calendar more closely.

I just cried again ... Why, why, but why? Holy mother of God WHY? They start a great original and funny show, then, at the end of the second season, they kill two of the main characters, so there are only three left, then they kill another one (the BEST one) after five other episodes, and bam! We only have an annoying and non interesting pregnant girl, and the hero who is nothing without the other characters left. Aren't they just kidding us?

i think it reallyshows how much jack loved ianto that when he came back he didnt make the whole massive yell it was very peaceful and at the same time so so sad also the fact that even gwen couldnt get jack to stay after ianto died <3 i love you ianto

Children of Earth was Torchwood at its very best, but, because of the subject matter, I think its something I would find difficult to watch again. It's a shame Ianto had to die, and I found this scene very sad when I first watched it, as well as the end of Day 5. Oh, and I love Eve Myles!! :D

Jack fled Earth and left Gwen on her own. Seems like the end, to me..soooo sad! I know Martha is around and the Doctor will appear again at some point, but is this the end?

This scene seemed wrong to me. I think Jack should have been the one to readjust the tie. Gwen should have hugged him or not even been there yet. I don't know really how I think it would have better. I just felt something wrong about it. Sorry, I just needed to ramble.

Thanks for uploading ......RTD has destroyed an excellent show. The first season was shakey, the second season minus a few episodes were good to great. Then you choose to kill off another member of the team. RIP Tosh and Owen. Come on- If the new writers or RTD plans to have Gwen as the new leader of Torchwood - You have lost a viewer. I find the character of Gwen annoying.

1. If they didn't kill a main character, children of earth wouldn't have had as big of an effect. If they had chosen to kill gwen, it wouldn't have been as effective because it wouldn't have as much of an impact on the other characters.

2. One of the facts of Torchwood that we are told going in is that people will die young

People die in this show. It is what makes the show somewhat realistic.

3. Yeah, Gwen is kind of annoying. She is steadily getting better though. ( she is loosing that annoying optimism)

4, I aggree that Gwen can't run the next season ( you know, with Gwen being pregnant and all). They would have to place it in the future when Jack gets back ( way, way in the future).

5. RTD made hard decisions for this mini series that put him out of favor with his fans. Though we might feel tramitized by some of the events of Children of Earth, you have got to respect the man for going through with it.

Selana... At the end of season 2, Tosh and Owen died. RTD gave them a fantastic death scene but also wiped out half the Torchwood team. In the Children of Earth miniseries aka season 3, one does not kill off or have another leave if you want the series to survive. Absolutely, life in Torchwood is short if you are not immortal but come on that is not realistic for a show to continue for seasons to come.

You do have a point. But you also have to remember that this is a spin off of doctor who ( show where the cast changes all the time) Unfortunetly, that is probably what will happen here IF it is picked up for a fourth season.

We both have valid points, and, in a way, I think we are both right. The actions of RTD had both positive and negative side effects.

@archangel2467 there is going to be a 4th series they've commissioned Barrowman and Myles plus new characters and an american company are adding to budgets and sets
