@killcraz - You should introduce yourself to the vinyl community here with a video like this. It sounds like you've got stories to tell! Thanks for watching.
@EoLoVoX Yes i've been wanting to get around to shooting some video & now that i have found this group it will make it all worth wild!... like yourself i like a wide range of music...it all started back when i was about 5 years old & my mothers country & western albums on the turntable!! her collection i have as well with mine! i will post a video soon thanx.. Kevin
@killcraz - I used to listen to old C&W music on a small transistor radio, after my parents thought I had gone to sleep. My parents were into vocal jazz, classical, and easy listening, so they had a lot of those genres in their record collection. My dad was also big into bagpipe music. I've got their records now, as well as some C&W on vinyl, and I love the nostalgia involved when listening to them.
I would very much like to be part of the vinyl community and just started posting tracks from my collection with video chat (Mostly 70's rock) Hope someone will come and subscribe and I will subscribe to your channel as well. (Thanks)
@EoLoVoX I had not thought, but seeing as many videos as many collections, I'm thinking. For sure I will soon make a video of my collection of vinyl and CDs.
@StarBoyJonesProds - I felt super lucky at the time. Most of the library records that I kept have been phased out of my main collection by this time, though. They all had library labels on them, and the sound quality wasn't spectacular. Over the years since, every time I found a fairly cheap copy of one of the albums I got that way, I bought it to replace the library copy. The best part was that it rekindled by passion for vinyl.
@HACHETOOTH - Thanks! I posted this in February 2011 and, as I hinted in the video, I actually started posting my vinyl "Front Burner" videos back in January 2010. At that point, I didn't even know that there WAS a vinyl community here. Once I became aware of it, I figured a formal introduction was in order. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hey Rob! Really interesting intro to the community! Sorry i'm a little late! You remind me alot like myself in the stories you told. Anyway, just thought I'd drop by and say hello! I look forward to videos you put out in the future! Take care man
@DlSASTERPIECE - Thanks Marcus! This vinyl community seems to vary quite a bit in ages, backgrounds, and tastes in music. Yet we share that same common core passion for the music, and sharing that enthusiasm is kind of addictive. Thanks for dropping by, watching the video, and taking the time to comment. I look forward to your videos, too!
i watched yours because i had just watched my brother's vinyl log, dereck higgins. i'll watch you too to learn about your collection! i like the song playing in the background.
@anievon - Thanks! That's a pretty amazing brother you've got there. His musical knowledge and record collection run circles around mine. Were you one of the siblings that were in one of his recent videos, when he introduced his brother and sisters?
@daddyrollingstone - Thanks drs! I posted the background music in the details section below the video. It's all from the 2000s, but definitely dub influenced. The Trentemøller in particular (first track) is deliciously dubby. It's all electronic, though, and I recognize that it's not for everyone.
Hey, great video as always Rob. Man, i can so relate to your "The Stupid Years" story, except you had only around 10 years in the CD wilderness whereas mine went from around 1988 to 2010. Everyone was saying that CDs were here to stay and vinyl was an outdated format so I sold around 1500 albums for next to nothing (similar to you) I sold entire collections such as Bowie, Hawkwind, Rush, Genesis etc. I'm so glad I took the leap and bought another turntable after a 22 year gap!
@mikemulcahy - Ouch! It made me cringe when you mentioned that in your video, too. Nevertheless, I'm really happy that you're back in the game! Now, in addition to buying new vinyl, you can buy back your favorite titles from your old collection. I do it all the time, and every single time I kick myself for getting rid of it in the first place.
Hey Rob, I had the same kind of story with my older cousins getting me into the Beatles when they were baby sitting for me at around the age of 5. I think the album that I remember asking for as a kid was Hot Rocks by the Stones. Again the babysitter was a long haired neighbor {early 70's} took it over and played it. I loved it and I asked my folks to buy me a copy. I had a Singer portable turntable then that ran on batteries. Thought I would share this with you. Great video,
@Paneeks1960 - Thanks for watching, Rob, and thanks for sharing a bit of your story. I wish more people in the vinyl community would talk about those game-changing moments and music. The power of music is amazing in that way. ~ The Other Rob
Great introduction! Loved your story. I'm a big collector of vinyl and shellac, and can really relate to what you talked about during the late 80's and 90's. I'll definitely be checking out more of your vids and subscribing. I hope you'll enjoy the music and vids I have on both of my channels.
@spellerine - No worries. I know what you mean about trying to keep up. Thanks for the sub! I have enjoyed the videos of yours that I've seen so far. Keep 'em coming!
@EarlofSuave308 - Ha! Thanks man! My collection pales compared to a few of the others on here. Still, I admire anyone's vinyl collection. I just love that we're all so into music and into vinyl!
Please consider subscribing. I've subscribed to your channel and have been enjoying your latest videos. You've got a great sense of humor! Thanks for watching.
@RecordsGlasgow - Isn't it? I just had to sneak that in somewhere. If you don't have Trentemøller's 'The Last Resort' you really should pick it up. It's one of my favorite recordings of the past five years!
I've been watching your videos for a year (?) and I always thought of you as a core member of the community . Looks like your getting a lot of well deserved exsposure with this post.
@punktexas - I suppose I didn't need to invite myself in since I was doing those other videos, but I figured I would make it official and introduce myself!
Great introduction! I'm glad to hear you care about how the music is being reproduced. A lot of the Vinyl collectors on Youtube do not put much emphases on their audio system. I believe anything that brings you closer to the music should be number 1 to the kind of person that collects vinyl. I would love to see a video of what your system is comprised of as well as any tips/fallacies of Audiophilia you may have. Maybe you could teach some of these vinyl collectors a thing or 2!
@MrCdnAudiophile - Thanks for the comments and the sub! Although I agree that accurately reproducing the sounds that we love should be an important goal for vinyl lovers, I also think it's important to remember that the love of the music itself is paramount. Many of us can probably agree that a really good system goes hand in hand with that love, but many others may not have the means to afford an audiophile system. I was certainly there, once, and it didn't stop me from being a music junkie.
Awesome video man! I'm also so thrilled with the variety of tastes, and their passion for vinyl. Very cool! Awesome introduction! Love the background you gave. We should all do that! Make it much more close knit. Keep the vids coming!
@McSoappy - Hey thanks! I'd be thrilled if other people posted stories about how they became music junkies. I mentioned this in the text for the video, but if you or other people have done anything like this, post the link(s) here. I'd love to see them!
Welcome!! Oh yeah you can part of the record collectors club!! Wow!! Nice collection. Great video, very well done. Check out my channel to see what I have been picking up lately and all my phono's and Jukeboxs. Enjoy!!
I had a similar experience when my public library was getting rid of their LP collection. They were selling them for a quarter a piece and I was making a gigantic stack of albums to purchase. The Librarian finally told me just to give her 10 bucks and take as many as I wanted. I got about 400 albums that day and only had to ditch about 75 because of bad condition.
Glad to see that you have finally made a introduction video!!! We have chatted a few times over the last few months about Laurie Anderson, and lately about Talk Talk. enjoyed your videos. Keep posting
@CollectorOfMusic - I definitely remember. You and I have incredibly similar taste in music from the 80s, at least. I enjoy your videos, and I enjoy picking out what music you're playing in the background of them!
@sotchease - I'm delighted to be that kind of inspiration! As I said in the vid, I started doing these "LP Front Burner" updates before I knew that this community existed. It feels like the same kind of thing, though. Looking forward to seeing some videos of yours!

@dereckvon - Thanks. It was actually one of your recent videos that inspired this one. I've only watched three or four of yours, so far, but I've really enjoyed them. I love what you have to say about music.
