He does the Crimson King's bidding, and in case you don't know, the Crimson King is the ultimate evil in the universe. It's a lot less complicated if you read The Dark Tower series.

I agree, the book was much better, but, generally, they always are. Anyways, it's a 1,553 page book (the uncut version, which, everyone will agree, is so much better). If they made the whole thing into a movie, It'd have to be at least 9, 10 hours long. Though, don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to see another Mini-Series of The Stand, like, done over the space of a year. That would be amazing!
