It seems like the children, now adults, were better off when removed from their families. Dude they were put into caring foster homes and educated in the usual fashion. In fact none of them can claim they weren't taken from impoverished communities so there's no legal recourse for them. They were a victim of the same laws that affect white people even today, so it's not racial either. It was a failed attempt to assimilate them into white culture at our expense.
Other countries in a similar situation can't pretend to have done as much.
One big reason why America, NZ and Australia were invaded and taken over by Europeans so effectively was because of the small populations of indigenous peoples in these lands. What happened in America, NZ and Australia makes a pretty good case for abandoning contraception! Look for instance at India, Africa and China. Europeans attempted to colonize these countries, but the huge and overwhelming native populations meant they couldn't. A strong case for having as many children a possible eh?

It seems like the children, now adults, were better off when removed from their families. Granted, they were denied growing up "normally", but at least they were guaranteed sustenance, shelter and a secure, structured living environment. As the Aboriginals have long been in a state of poverty and destitution, is it not better these children were removed from that state, regardless of the motivations of government to remove them? Or would it have been better for them to grow up in that condition?

What happened in America, NZ and Australia makes a pretty good case for abandoning contraception! Look for instance at India, Africa and China. Europeans attempted to colonize these countries, but the huge and overwhelming native populations meant they couldn't. A strong case for having as many children a possible eh?
