I think people trust Mormons as in people okay. However, they are more worried about the church as in influence. in the 1960election, there were worries that John Kennedy would be influenced by the Catholic Church in Rome. Those fears, of course, were unfounded. However, those same fears have returned with Mormons, because there Church is one of the few deeply engulfed in mystery and the unknown. It's a basic fear of church lead government.
It does make one wonder why the State of Utah executed John D. Lee on the same sight. And he was the only one who paid by death. Was this to silence him? Interesting.....Guess I could give that some thought. Ah, forget it. That was 151 years ago...
If Mormons can't screw it,brainwash it,steal from it or exploit it, then they have little if any use for it. Read the true history of this ruthless slaughter. The Mormons dressed up as Indians and then blamed it on them after murdering nearly everyone for the exception of the very young who were too young to remember the slaughter. The U.S government investigated this crime three years after the fact.
We already know about the atrocities of other religions. What's wrong with airing the truth about the atrocities of "God's one true church"? The strange Mormon cult would have us think they really are "saints", when their religion has beared the same bloody, rotten fruit like other religions. Put the facts out there!
"There isn't anything to be gained in telling this story in this way. It generates bad feelings on all sides...The Mormons are presented in no better light than the Japanese were in Hollywood's World War II films. Wasn't there a more thoughtful and insightful way to consider this historical event?" - Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times (24 August 2007)
Jon Voight is a ham, this b-list bomb's timing is awfuly coincidental. Gee, who might want to tank the candidate who will most likely beat any of the democrats in a general election.
How can anyone be a Mormon when its history is so horrible....

He had a Catholic upbringing when he left home he ceased religious observance....a nazi song:We follow not Christ, but Horst Wessel,
Away with incense and Holy Water,
The Church can go hang for all we care,
The Swastika brings salvation on Earth.

The poll that 30% would not vote for a Mormon. I think you can poll just about anything.
Would you be less likly to vote for someone less than 5' tall? or a redhead? Lawyer? Catholic? Billionair? etc.
It is a meaningless poll.

In response to moveoverdotorg:
The reason this movie came out now is because this is the 150th anniversary.
