yes he did. He famously turned up at the Wish You Were Here recording sessions, at which point they didn't want him back. In fact he was kicked out in the first place anyway, because he wasn't doing anything but spoiling gigs. Although Syd was a very creative songwriter, he went mad and was incapable of doing anything very constructive. Syd is not at this gig because he was, er, dead.
I can't for the life of me understand all the negative comments on here. I think that this is a very inspiring project and it helps to keep the memory of Syd and his wonderful, individual songs alive. Musically it seems that the players have stayed true to the original arrangements and there seems to be more of Barrett's approach here than the Floyd may have brought to the project with their technically perfect but sanitized renditions.
What a happy fun song ! For those acoustically inclined Syd fans- it's a dead easy 3 chord song that's fun to play (G - C7 - D). and you get to slap your guitar like a drum too (boom boom).
I mean, its a complete abomination, its all thrown together. Somebody reserrect Syd, hes the master, the genius, the innovator, a revolutionary,& visionary.
its pretty good! like syd would care if they covered his song, did it good or bad, theyre just doing it out of respect and love for him and his music, i'd love it if someone liked my stuff that much! plus, i dont think someone who would judge someone elses performance compared to there own could have been such a genious in the first place, they would be to busy comparing.
this is an exact cover-i don't know what you people are talking about. obviously noone understands that acid rock was made in studios and often could not be replicated-and this is a perfect replica. the sound matchs with what i would expect for a bootleg. you people don't know what you are talking about.
I didn't "review" it, did I? And though I actually am "qualified" to do so - being a recognized professional writer, director and film maker ( feature films, shorts and music videos) I choose not to because I must then endure inane comments and challenges from the great unwashed, like yourself in a forum that is designed merely to sell advertising space. Your "comment" and that of jamesjohansen prove my point.
To me, this "tribute" sucks, i just can't believe that Waters and Floyd (the rest of) couldn't stay again at the same time, c'mon, thanks to Syd they are rich, no more floyd...this is terrible...sad...the king is dead...long live king
Still pretty cool to see the Floyd on the set, being there for Syd. If only Living Alone, or John Latham, or Scream, or Vegetable man, or Butterfly or Double O Bo would see release! or the BBC sessions! come on Floyd!
I think that fact that it was seemingly improvised is the only way they could make it sound like Syd would have wanted it to.

The tune works well, just wish the performers were clearer in the video. Thanks for posting this.

Rick Wright is on the keyboards on the bottom left of this shot (on the left, white hair) he is also heard singing quite a bit of the lead vocals.

To Mister PolarSun1,
This song is really easy to play, but not so easy to sketch out. That´s where magic lives. Could you please upload one song of yours????

It is fun to play on guitar even though it is simple. On keyboard it's alright too. Even the drums, fuck, the whole song is fun.
