It's so easy to rip games off the UMD anyways! Won't matter much really, the tools you can get are so simple to use, people who haven't ever used a PSP or a computer could rip them. Not much hacking needed anymore since the hackers give you a tool to download, and you are all set.

AND you can also choose to buy a memory stick 2 to add more memory. WHICH you can take out. And you can move files from the internal memory to the external and the back around too.
Many people with PSPs are not buying this because there's no way to import your existing games. You'd have to buy all over again or continue to use two devices and revert to the PSP when playing UMD games. If there was a way to copy those UMDs over to the Go's HD, then we'd have a winning proposition.
Why don't people understand the Playstation Store, they read all about downloads when they signed up... if you break it or loose it, you can download your games again without paying. The only way you'll have to pay for it again is if you manage to break 5 PSPs in a row.
Am I the only one who doesn't like the PSPgo or the online system they use I signed up for it, tried it, and I don't like it. I'm not going to pay upwards from 2 dollars and on for an online file I prefer umd games and videos and honestly
I wish, I never gave them my information. The oridginal PSP if fine MY advice is to keep what you have. Its a marketing technique advertizers use to get you to buy or use something you don't really need to they create a sense of dissatisfaction in your life.

i am so getting this it looks cool and has a good design the sliding mechanism is stylish it does suck that it doesn't play UMDS and that there's no way to transfer UMD content onto the Go but with it relying solely on digital downloads eliminates the need for carrying several UMDS around and in the past that has been annoying for me
Here are the reasons why it fuckin sucks 1. Has a smaller screen than the orignal psp 2. Cant play UMD games 3. All the games would have to be purchased from the PSN store 4. Can't remove the battery cause it's built which sucks cause when it dies u can't remove it to place a new one 5. They changed the memory stick on it 6. It would be nice if they made an adapter to transfer and convert the original UMD you purchased to work for this since you paid for it. Why buy the game twice? It's like the Wii's VC.
@nmgh101 Well I have since the inital comment. I use the HBL on it also. Not sure what that is then see my vids. Despite what people have said about it, I love it. I convert movies for it from DVD and it's the way to Go. I never owned any other PSP before this one.
@jlo138 you can do that if you have an original PSP with CFW, you can just make an ISO backup of the UMD and then CFW the Go, and then transfer it to the Go and run it, its not legal, but its possible.
@everythingmac123 I know but you can't play it on the Go unless you have a license for it. It will show up like a real game and look like it will play but it will give you a license code error. Supposedly the new HEN being released will have an iso loader by some developers. Will have to wait and see.
@jlo138 well i don't know how much you know about PSP hacking, but you don't seem to know much about it, because when you make a backup of the ISO on the PSP, theres no need for a license of any kind, you can download ISO backups off torrent websites and they play like cake, and if you have HEN on your PSP Go/Slim/Fat you should be able to use it, because it is homebrew.

Skip the PSP. PS3 is way better and PSP only really has ports and port like games (like GOW or SOCOM. Not ports but available on PS3) of the PS2 and 3 (as a general statement).
And you don't really need 2 handheld gaming systems. Its nice but not necessary.
So I say get a PS3 and be happy. And if you really want a PSP as well wait for a price drop.
hmm. i borrow one for a couple of days. it really is piece of crap. doesn't play UMD disks, you have to purchase everything from sony online store, which is hideously overpriced. games are locked to the console and you can't sell them once completed.
if the console breaks our of warranty (just 3 months), you have to buy another console and rebuy your games.
sony even changed all the lead connectors so you have to spend even more money on new cables.
It doesnt play umd disks which is good because now you can download! and its not as fat! it stores it all no more carrying around disks! think of it like a cd player going to a ipod...just like the ipod you gotta download and it had that thing where you can add and move songs but pspgo is with games!
jsut like an ipod if it brakes or u lose it then all the songs r gone! so treat it carefuly dont throw it at your brothers and ull be fine definitely get a screen protector and a case
It doesn't use UMD Disks, to minimise the loading times and make it more portable, If it crashes you do not need to re download the content you have, you just activate your PSN account once again, (FREE) and click previous downloads list and just re- install them. Research before you make assumtions stupid.
like UnPlaystation said, if you break/ lose your PSP GO everything is saved on your PSN account so you will have to re-download but you wont have to re-buy.
As for not being able to sell your games you basically can. WIth sonys digital download you can have up to 5 copies of any game running at a time. So basically when the PSP GO 2 comes out you can sell your GO with all the games on it to pay for the new PSP and you will still have your games.
@xk7787 Do you mean like gameshare multiplayer or do you mean like download a copy of your game from your PSN to their PSP.
If you want to know about gameshare multiplayer then just type that into google and it should tell you. If you are trying to download a game to your friends PSP though then its a little hard. The games can only be downloaded from the PSN to systems registered to the PSN. So you would need to share a PSN with your friend.
@xk7787 And I haven't tried this but I'd be willing to bet that if you downloaded a game to a memory chip on your PSP and gave the memory chip to your friend that he could play the game on his PSP. Again I haven't tried that but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
@blissfullydead89 I'm not calling you lier but I doubt that very much. Sony said they would be producing every game that came out for UMD as DD as well. Sony tends to be very good at keeping promises (like still making games for the PS2 at least 10 years after release). Even if not every game can be bought as DD I doubt it is for the reason you stated. The PSP Go is kind of a flop of a system and sony might just think there isn't enough money in it.
@XGeneralBeanX So far square-enix is debating on releasing UMD only due to piracy. In fact the first game that they are implementing this with is Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep. In fact they are so worried that they did not even make a demo for it, rather the reviewers are playing actual saved files of it under close supervision.
Sony does not really have the final say in what companies put out DD. It is not enforced and it is not a requirement of game developers.
@blissfullydead89 I understand. Well Square Enix needs to learn that piracy will happen regardless if they put a game out for DD or if someone else converts it. Piracy will always be a problem and unless playstation starts requiring a key code to play games they wont be able to stop it.

But Sony, it's too expensive to be an alternative to the PSP-3000. Even the games on the digital download are more expensive than in the store. If the thing came with more memory, it would make me need it. As it stands, I want to buy it because of the whole slew of good games coming out for it, but with each of them being $40 opposed to the DS's $20-30, I don't particularly need it. If there is a price drop, I'll buy it. For now, I'll wait for Microsoft to make their move.

Get the PSP 3000 while you can. They took out UMDs from the PSPGo. Unless you're the type of person who wants to move into the digital world, go for the Go.

In the UK it's actually a better deal to buy the PSP Go than the 3000.
Why you ask? Well, if I bought the PSP 3000 and then a 16GB memory card and then Gran Turismo PSP (which comes free with the PSP Go if you register it within 20 days) then I'd end up paying more money than if I'd simply got a PSP Go.
I've played the pirated PSP games before - not a good experience man...
I tried playing one of the Socom games and every time, I was all hyped up. Then sometime in the menu, it stops working and I have to take out the batteries just to turn off the machine. Not fun...
I'll fork over the extra money for a game that actually works.

This unit will not play your discs (UMDs). Any games you want will have to be bought off their Playstation Store. You can access the store on your PC by downloading Media Go software (Sony's free download), and hooking up a PSP with USB cable (or PSP Go with USB cable that comes in the box).
If you are using a full-featured regular PSP, of course you have to have a memory stick too.
I think you are mistaken about transferring your UMDs to the PSP Go. Sony haven't announced anything. The new hardware will not read ISOs/ CSOs if you are talking about hacking.
The web browser on the PSP Go will be the same frustrating web browser in previous units, so don't expect any changes here. YouTube will not work. They need to license Adobe Flash and improve or license a decent browser, but that costs them money they don't want to cut from their profits.

Yes. Memory stick it uses is M2. largest size is 32GB right now.

But Sony, it's too expensive to be an alternative to the PSP-3000. Even the games on the digital download are more expensive than in the store. If the thing came with more memory, it would make me need it. As it stands, I want to buy it because of the whole slew of good games coming out for it, but with each of them being $40 opposed to the DS's $20-30, I don't particularly need it. If there is a price drop, I'll buy it. For now, I'll wait for Microsoft to make their move.

But be warned: do not get the PSPGo.
Get the PSP 3000 while you can. They took out UMDs from the PSPGo. Unless you're the type of person who wants to move into the digital world, go for the Go.

In the UK it's actually a better deal to buy the PSP Go than the 3000.
Why you ask? Well, if I bought the PSP 3000 and then a 16GB memory card and then Gran Turismo PSP (which comes free with the PSP Go if you register it within 20 days) then I'd end up paying more money than if I'd simply got a PSP Go.

I've played the pirated PSP games before - not a good experience man...
I tried playing one of the Socom games and every time, I was all hyped up. Then sometime in the menu, it stops working and I have to take out the batteries just to turn off the machine. Not fun...

This unit will not play your discs (UMDs). Any games you want will have to be bought off their Playstation Store. You can access the store on your PC by downloading Media Go software (Sony's free download), and hooking up a PSP with USB cable (or PSP Go with USB cable that comes in the box).
If you are using a full-featured regular PSP, of course you have to have a memory stick too.

The web browser on the PSP Go will be the same frustrating web browser in previous units, so don't expect any changes here. YouTube will not work. They need to license Adobe Flash and improve or license a decent browser, but that costs them money they don't want to cut from their profits.
