The press pool consists of white house correspondance. Obama can have interviews with other stations but he cannot use the pool's resources without interviewing each correspondant from each network. You cannot have Fox share the cost of the interviews without getting an interview itself. Its not hard to understand

Nope, fair press is as important as free press. There's a disharmony here, I wouldn't argue against any real regulation on what news can be broken or how they can present it but it is equally important, and Fox is clearly failing viewers on this. The point that all these right-wing news corporations hold an oligopoly over free speech, most of the time. The issue with fox is not free speech speech, but one of a conflict of interest. They have an obligation to the public to present facts objectively as a news network but at the same time are slanting news to support one party and their own agenda. Isn't the network president considering running for prez?
It is called freedom of speech. As despicable as FOX is they have a right to be despicable. That doesn't mean the White House has to deal with them, but it behooves other media to defend their right to participate in the debate. It goes back to fundamental principles. It is still overwhelmingly corporate though. It would be better if some small publications or bloggers were allowed to participat.

The press pool is where CNN, NBC,CBS, FOX, and ABC share the cost of maintaining a white house press core and in doing so share the benefits of it. The press pool consists of white house correspondance. Obama can have interviews with other stations but he cannot use the pool's resources without interviewing each correspondant from each network. You cannot have Fox share the cost of the interviews without getting an interview itself. Its not hard to understand

Although I predominately agree with Cenk about the administration being free to limit access to whoever it pleases, Fox is a paid up contracted partner in good standing with the news pool. For the pool to accept conditions that would breach that contract would be more unethical than the president simply wanting friendly, less critical news coverage. In my opinion.

Nope, fair press is as important as free press. There's a disharmony here, I wouldn't argue against any real regulation on what news can be broken or how they can present it but it is equally important, and Fox is clearly failing viewers on this. The point that all these right-wing news corporations hold an oligopoly over free speech, most of the time. These are problems to solve, Fox News is obviously a wing of the Republican Party, but I still think they should have allowed them.

The issue with fox is not free speech speech, but one of a conflict of interest. They have an obligation to the public to present facts objectively as a news network but at the same time are slanting news to support one party and their own agenda. Isn't the network president considering running for prez?

There's a limited range of acceptable opinions within the corporate framework; naturally each of those opinions will be represented, because there's money to be made. check out a site called project censored... (google search it) it covers the top 25 stories that were essentially unmentioned in the states... even though they should by rights be major news.
includes sources and all that its a reliable site intersting too.. XD

How about this? I agree fox is tilted to this thing we call right... just as the other stations lean left. I wish we would get away from this left/right crap. All individuals have perspectives and no matter what they do, they see the world in their world view.
But it doesn't matter. If MSNBC asks tough questions of Bush, great... if fox does the same of Obama, great.
I don't trust gov't no matter who is in power so never decry someone asking questions no matter how much you disagree.

there are plenty of aspects that Obama should be criticized on, he already fucked up enough, just like any president. However, the criticism has to be objective and constructive. And like it or not, he is a socialist. He believes in redistribution of wealth. That is marxist... he is on record a few times saying this. I wish he would just fess up. The argument should be over big gov't with safety nets, or individual liberty. And both R and D are for big gov't.

First world nations have universal healthcare, and higher taxes than U.S. Canada, Australia and New Zealand all rank in the top 7 in overall quality of life rankings. U.S is not anywhere close. Believe it or not I am one American that is not possessed red scare hysteria. Obama is way too centrist for my tastes, and is on the side of the big corporations. That helped him get into office. True he is trying to make life a lot easier for most Americans, and almost half of Americans are against his health care reform, but more than half them support it.

Why is it such a surprise to the right-wing media that they're trying to regulate bailout-receiving companies' executive pay, in light of a) the fact that they took TAXPAYER money and b) the fact that they gave ENORMOUS bonuses to jackoffs who fucked up?? The gov't rarely gives out money to big entities like AIG without conditions. In 2008 and further TARP money in 2009, ,they dropped the ball on that and let them do whatever they wanted. And AIG and the others abused that privilege.
