  • maybe blocked faded the first one a touch, flushed the second one

  • Stevie doesnt fuck around. It would be snowing and he would have no doubts about wearing shorts

  • when you hit that shot you are proclaiming to the world that your a fucking beast

  • tiger is still the most talented golfer on earth

  • i could hit lower with my putter

  • fucking pure

  • If you can hit the ball straight and consistent, you would be surprised at how little of an adjustment you have to make to hit a stinger.. Very innovative shot by tiger off the tee, but essentially a more balanced and square punch shot which gives the ball a more low, piercing ball flight. Cool shot to pull off when hit successfully!

  • sub back?

  • Saw Tiger play on the Sunday practice round. Hit 2 iron stinger down the 18th, never seen anything like it!! no more than 6 feet off the ground and went miles!!

  • i hit 3 irons off tees all the time

  • one good reason to put my 3 iron back in the bag and hit it off a tee.

  • It's staggering how long tour pros take to hit a shot. Amateurs have no way near as long to size up their shots.

  • @RetroJohnny1 That's because public golf courses stack the tee times up every 5 mins, so there's like 5,000 people on the golf course at once. Then they let out a single behind a 4-some, so you're always rushing. I would assume private clubs would be a little different.

  • i love how he didn't say a Word or look at a single person haha

  • @bostonburke88

And keeps his hands facing the target, chokes down a little and cuts off his swing, it's all for control

  • It's a 2 iron. They do not get up at the best of times. Besides, he stays in flexion longer and doesn't push off the ground and slide his hips as much. All pieces which will lead to a lower ball flight. Oh and leading with the handle a little more helps too :)

  • Tiger isnt much of the talking type, is he?

  • so he baisically plays this off his back foot

  • @bostonburke88 that makes you chunk the shit out of it, he just plays a low finish

  • @MegaHappyFaceMan No, he plays if off his back foot. That's how those guys can play those crazy shots, by moving it around in their stance.

  • @LtDansGamertag nah tiger control trajectory with his follow through leangth. what you said is true for say a sean ohair

  • @nikepumps123 I tried to post 3 links in this comment but it wouldn't work, search on YT for videos of the side view and its very apparent that this shot is in the back of his stance. This shot wouldn't be possible playing it anywhere else in your stance, try it although its near impossible if you aren't in absolute tip top condition.

  • @LtDansGamertag watch his clinic with anthony kim he talks about his followthrough. but i would think we are both right. anyways

  • @LtDansGamertag oh my bad, i missunderstood him, i thought he meant he kept his weight on his right side. sry my bad

  • @creep426 It was a practise round, not a provisional! He just tried it out because that's what they do at practise rounds - they practise....

That shot never looked like it got 15 feet off the ground.....unreal

  • Ok, dumb question alert. What is the actual purpose of this shot? I can see the ball travels very low, but why choose this over a more orthodox shot? Any ideas how he plays this shot?

  • @liambannin A you can hear in the camera's mic, there is a bit of wind. Could've been practicing this shot for the tournament expecting higher winds... Maybe. Maybe not. lol. Could be that he just prefers to hit that shot instead of a higher one.

  • @liambannin it's easier to hit a "stinger" straight with a longer iron. it may not go quite as far but it stays down very low and you don't have to worry as much about the wind affecting your shot. if there is wind into you, this will end up going straighter and farther than a conventional shot. plus in britain, you get a ton of roll on the fairways, so they ball well travel plent far.

  • I tried to emulate this and my 4 iron got stuck in the ground :S

  • @soapbox187 haha that made me piss myself! :L

  • @soapbox187 Same!!!

  • god like

  • oh stevie williams...

  • 1 person has never broke 100.

  • if i tried that i would have probably shanke it or duff it..

  • look how easy williams carries that bag, what a joke!

  • why did he hit three balls?

  • @rodthepimp he didn't...

  • @rodthepimp its a practise round

  • @creep426 Yes that may be a rule...but antcowan was right..this is his practice round so he may hit as many as he pleases and scores don't matter, hes just fine tuning each hole and how to play them.

  • why did he hit 2 balls?

  • @antcowan its the practice rounds

  • at first i thought he was gonna hit that with his putter haha

  • no i mean he hit the tee shot 220-230

  • Comment removed

  • @elitesquad4 Yeah but he still has around 230 to the green. thats like a 4,5 or 6 iron depending on the wind.. definitely not a wedge or 9 iron

  • so you're trying to tell me he can hit a pitching wedge 230 yards? :/

  • how can you hit an iron on a 465 par 4 :(

  • @toxicsponge he most likely hit that 220-230 so that would mean he had p wedge or a 9 into the green depending onthe wind

  • @elitesquad4 235 yard PW... good luck with that

  • @elitesquad4 i call bullocks on that sir

  • @toxicsponge it could be to dangerous to use a driver!!

  • Whenever I try to hit these they hook...

  • @iLoveSandwiches07 open your stance a little and really rotate quickly through the ball....should help straighten that out for you..

  • @iLoveSandwiches07 If you notice, he uses a fade swing to counteract the ball being further back in his stance, but holds off a bit on hit follow through to keep it low.

  • how far did that shot end up going??

  • @tonybonez 20 yds

  • @johnpcarterful

so about 10 yards further than you can drive it and about 19 yards 35 inches longer than your dick!!

  • @tonybonez hey....eyes up here. you can keep your mouth down there though

  • @tonybonez - Depends what club he's using but I would say at least 230+ maybe.

  • Cool video, cheers!

  • Can someone tell me how you do that. do you tilt the club more towards the ground when using a long iron like a 4 or 3?

  • @bts1995 keep your hands more ahead of the ball at impact and follow through more across your body than normal

  • @bts1995 It's all about the finish. Watch his finish on this shot compared to his full shots. It allows him to keep the clubface closed for longer. It's like a really hard punch shot.

  • he's playing a practice round... who gives a shit if he uses a tee?

  • he's playing a practice round... who gives a shit if he uses a tee?

  • @jcbruru

    Owned!!!

  • its links turf he's hitting off which is more solid and wen hitting it off the ground with a long iron the compression you get is amazing and it goes so much further

  • what he drink :D , beacose I want by it ,

  • @CEO1451 Your argument holds no water as i have seen Tiger hit stinger irons off tees many a time..

  • @CEO1451 so why does Tiger tee it up when he hits his 3 Wood dumbass

  • @jcbruru he obviously tees it up with a three wood for the same reason he tees it up with an iron on a par 3 or a driver on a par 5; which is to insure that he makes solid contact. You dont ned to tee up the ball to hit a stinger it just makes it easier to do so. How dumb of a question can you ask?

  • @steelgolfer811 i didnt ask a question though.. dumbass!!

  • @jcbruru you obviously did when you said, "so why does Tiger tee it up when he hits his 3 wood?" Sounds like a question to me...dumbass!

  • damn

  • wish i could hit that shot

  • he didnt even use a tee..

  • @jcbruru Kinda hard to hit a stinger with a ball tee'd up lol xD

  • insane.

  • how fr didit go ?

  • saw him do this at the 2009 british open but with his 3 wood.. i was 5 feet from him... its insane!

  • Cool sound.

  • @shawakwak mostly from the cameras.

  • @Bobaloo795 No you can hear the smack on the ball. it's very distinctive.

  • @shawakwak o gotcha

  • lol commented too soon...he took 2 shots heh. duhhh

  • wow you had awesome position....this had to be a practice round right?

  • wads a stinger?

  • thanks for posting i'm trying to learn how to hit this shot and this video really helped

  • Great Video and a great shot too! Thanks

  • GO TIGER SCOTLANDS ROOTING FOR YOU

  • Interesting - he didn't tee the ball up. Even for a low stinger I would have expected him to tee it up just a little.

I guess someone as good as him doesn't need such a tiny advantage :P
