  • Ahh... the 80's. Thanks for this post jamycorr.

  • please try translate this word "tegire" into English

If you do you'll understand my comment!!

  • I don't understand your comment

Are you ok?M!!!Take care of your self!!!!!

  • @collagan114 "I came towards you to say that I'm leaving you"... how nice ;-)

  • @XtOfje "i came to tell you that i'm leaving" is, in my opinion, a better translation

  • @MorbidMayem of course you are right, but I did it rather on purpose because in french the coming and the leaving sounds so dramatic and so melancholic that I wanted to emphasize it all a liitle bit - too much ;-). And also in japanese they have a way of playing with words: they would say for instance "white snow is falling" (a simple example).

But if people are looking for a more correct translation then you are right!

  • This is the French version of a popular POP song in France, with my best guess will merge into the U.S., in english soon. Just like Lady GaGa has. An very successfully.

  • love this version! Merci!x

  • Great song & performance, never lost his meaning.

  • Belgian 80s topquality!

  • Splendide reprise, que j'écoutais déjà ado, au début des eighties, âge d'or du rock new wave...

  • the belgians BITE

    if u take their

    citizen

    for french

    indeed very

    nationalistic...

  • @medium7h7avare you are right! and they don't like french people so much as well

  • i can't understand any word that she said, but, i love the rythm XD

  • @kon3piu

Je suis venue te dire que je m'en

vai, means, I came to tell that I leave, very very nice song, reminds me to the 90's

  • Idd Belgium TopQuality! 80s rules!

  • Beautiful song.

  • The lower "string" synth sounds really false... was this on purpose?

  • @MorbidMayem as in not like real strings? Yes. Doesn't mean it doesn't sound awesome. Appreciate it for what it is, instead of using your preconceptions of what "strings" should sound like.

  • @briefcasemanx which preconceptions? tell me, i'm curious.

  • @MorbidMayem

Well, for one. I'm a naked-ass bitch. For two, could you make me hashbrowns?

  • @MorbidMayem it sounds nostalgic if you ask me... so yes it's on purpose. If you understand french you will hear that it suits the song and the sound perfectly!!

  • @XtOfje I don't question the fact it sounds nice, I like this version. :)

  • who cares all 80s synths are awesome anyways

  • @MorbidMayem Most likely on purpose. The whole point of synths is that they are not confined to the sounds of traditional instruments. People were free to experiment.

  • great

  • mmmm I like this, love it..

  • Can somebody upload other tracks of their LP "Pigmy World"?

I mean tracks like "Voices In The Silence".

  • @ Ladyscarlet. You have to take in consideration that the French Imperialists, who had an Empire from North Africa to Vietnam, they like to make fun of the Frenchspeaking from Belgium, Canada and Switzerland. The same way you can't say to a Chinese or a Korean that he is a Jap, because of the horrors the Japs did during WW II, you can't say that Jo Lemaire is French, she doesn't have the French nationality. She is proud to be a Belgian . Like Jacques Brel, who was not French.

  • Jo lemaire's from Belgian, Gembloux to be precise !

  • Better then Gainsbourg's original with that beat, and she gives it soul.

  • I was looking for almost 30 years for this song. Then I heard it on a mw radiostation.

Quickly grabbed my voicerecorder and then afterwards used Track ID from my old Sony Ericsson W960I and transfered a sample and finally found it! Great song, I like "Lio - Amoureux Solitaires" and is given me that same French eighty feeling!

  • Luv this track... there's another version of this that's featured on the "Bel 80" dvd, also worth hunting out... but Jo Lemaire is an absolute darling... such a nice voice!

  • very good song 80s ı mıss ıt

  • I was sixteen or so and fell in love with Jo Lemaire....

  • This is incredible - i am constantly looking for french and and italo synth music from the early 80's. This is beautiful......

  • @bluepuppydan Have you heard 1000 Ohm - A.G.N.E.S.? If you like early 80's european synth music you should love it! :)

  • @Jarren202 Thank you, i will have to check it out. i have the 12in. single of the claim by them- which i love- goes great with my german and italo songs.

    Prachtig

  • poor Gainsbourg !!! she sucks really bad drunk as shit I can sing better lol lol

  • @Sarahlapoison tu n'y connais rien ,for me one of the most beautiful and sensuel interpretation....

    Ongelofelijk.

  • Vond het toen al prachtig...

Word er nog steeds stil van.

  • Als ge dat maar weet, gewoon prachtig

  • This is amazing! So beautiful...

  • BELGE JO LEMAIRE NOT FRENCH

  • "Synthpop version of the original music of FRENCH SINGER SERGE GAINSBOURG." [it is written in the description of video]

JO LEMAIRE IS BELGIAN... NOT FRENCH... SERGE GAINSBOURG IS FRENCH... :S

  • @jamycorr and she lives in bonheiden (belgium)

  • @pliplop64

correct! And many of her years in several places in Limburg (Belgium)

  • @Davidorfull The language is still French.

  • Prachtig !!!!!

  • Schitterend!!!

  • Erg goed.Beste belgische plaat is van Front242.

  • @ Jamycorr, Jo Lemaire is from Belgium not from France, by the way, so was Jacques Brel!

  • oh man... the sing is french... the singer is belgian... I already wrote all this in the description of video ...

  • @jamycorr belgium has 2 big parts, in the north part we speak dutch and in the south part we speak FRENCH, thats explains everything, no?

  • super mooi liedje

  • what a superb rendition!

  • Jo Lemaire is actually from Gembloux in Belgium. I've heard that one member of her band plays in another Belgian band called 'Breath of Life'.

  • since i heard this in the beginning of carax' 'boy meets girl' it is burned in my mind.

  • i love this version...and the music backround is great...lovely......

  • Thanks for posting this again. I orginally came across this by accident and really like this song. What is the name of the song in English? What is the song about?

  • I just came to tell you I am leaving you....

  • The translation in English will be something like: "I came to say that I am leaving".

The person wants to stop the relationship for ever.

  • ty for the post =)

  • yes I know ... the song is by Serge Gainsbourg ...

  • yes it's not French synthpop it's Belgian :-)

  • Jo Lemaire is Belgian... The Song is French... =)

  • Agree

  • It seems that some of the capitalistic, copyright obsessed individuals, who have files such as this removed from Youtube, don't understand that it's really a form of free advertising which instills interest in otherwise forgotten material. I seriously doubt anyone is going to rush out and buy this music otherwise.

  • @1rabidmaddog yes they only need to see photos and name of artist! not copyrighted sound or animated images

  • Thank you for posting this after the other version was taken away.

  • this song is also in one scene from Leos Carax's Boy meets Girl... lovely song.

  • Ha ha, very nice to see this again, I have this record on Vinyl!

  • this is very pretty :-)

  • can't believe it this is so beautiful and sad and some corporate creep gets it taken off thanks jamycorr for putting it back on again mate

  • Who's that dude playing the drums? Cor!

  • wish i could understand in english ,sounds so lovely .....

  • actually the music is in French! but is very beautiful ... soon put the translation of it here in portuguese and in english ok

  • Sinistro, nunca tinha ouvido falar desse cover. Boa postagem!

  • its "i'm in love with a german film star" and its the passions
