Larry you are one hell of a guitar player... my God are you fine! Just love this song to bits and I gotta say, it's wonderful to be back in here for a visit ... where's the tea? (I know you probably drink coffee, but mine's tea!)
Larry, this was beautiful. This is THE oldest melody I can remember from my childhood apart from lullabies of course. A cover of this was played as a background to the weather forecast on TV while the cartoon clouds were flying above Hungary back in the very early '70s. I was a lot older when I discovered what the tune was. Now I have a collection of many covers -- yours will be a treasured one among them. Thank you for posting and keep it up :)
I remember this one:) Great song and some mighty fine pickin and singin there Larry:) Enjoyed listening:) Didnt Glenn Cambell sing this too? LOVED IT!! jackie
Hi Sherry! Thanks so much for you nice comment. I have always really liked this tune. I was pretty worried about putting it up. Did not think I did it justice. Your kind comment makes me feel better! Thanks!
Beautifully done! I had to pick up the guitar and try, and I think if I cut you down to half speed, I might keep up with you. :-)
One of life's fond memories is seeing John play this in an outdoor show on the Va. Tech drill field. Summer after I built my 12 string, making it 1965. No stage, no seats; he set up on a sheet of plywood, with a chair, a mic, and his foot-tapping block, and about 1000 of us students sat on the grass. I was close enough I just had to stand up to shake his hand.
Hi Moosie, I was fortunate enough to see John play a dozen times or more. He always liked to play this tune. i was just kind of missinfg John today....and all of that "Hippy Grass" I used to be right in the middle of. ....I probably ran into you in the past !!! or future! ;) !!
well done .. awesome voice and very nice guitar.

I too had the privelege of seeing John Hartford playing at an intimate gig. A real character and a sad loss.
This song is a challenge to do and you've done a tremendous job on it Larry.
