Got this for xmas..works better on my mac with iMovie and iDVD instead...can output the videos to even higher resolution for YouTubeHD and the coolest part was I got an 8gig Patriot SD card from FRYS for only $15 bills...

You left out the use of the mode button, but I found out it switches the camera from video mode to picture mode :) Soo you can take pictures with it too! I'm getting this camera as soon as I get the money.

This is a nice camera, but the sofware sucks.

If you buy one, is better learn how to use ffmpeg, so you can convert the MP4 (h.264+aac) to something format that another editing software can work.

that's one thing i specifically look for in a camera and that's what made me purchase my digital camera (Fujifilm finepix z33wp) not just because it was waterproof and shot HD video, but because it would run on windows movie maker. My old piece of crap Kodak was in mac format- which means i would have needed iMovie

Usually all camcorders take pictures. You can export frames from your video which is pretty much like pictures.

This looks like a really nice cam corder. Nikon makes a nice camera/vidcam. I am going to go with Cannon camera/vidcam. Both of those brands have been known to make some great quality pictures and video.

The batteries were out of stock everywhere so I got a JVC Mini DV
