easier way to do it: slide in between menus and tap one of the buttons on the bottom and it will do the exact same thing.

Thats just a joke, didnt meant to offend you.
What you actually do is when opening a new app you move the desktop while the app isnt open yet. So appp opens really fast and that thing at the desktop freezes.
