  • So if the batter misses the ball and it doesn't hit any wickets, but the wicket keeper catches it, is it an out? or can the batter just not move and wait for the bowler to throw again?

  • cricket would seem more exciting than baseball, with baseball it's a lot of batter missing the ball, but in cricket misses are exciting too as it can hit the sticks.

  • What happens if the batter hits the wicket on the opposite side of the pitch?

  • @explosivediarrhea100 G'day, if you mean with the ball off the bat or running towards it , either way same result-nothing. The wicket at the bowlers end only comes into play when a run-out could be made , then it has to be tagged (in cricket tag the wicket , not the batter) by a fielder (or bowler) with the batsman out of his ground to be an out.

  • @aussiefox Thank you very much.

  • Being American and used to baseball, this seems like a silly sport. But I've watched a few minutes of a game and DAMN can those bowlers throw!! Definitely more exciting and entertaining in my opinion.

  • @Link2MuZiK Give it another chance! The best fast bowlers bowl at around 90 mph and believe getting hit by that 5.5ounce leather ball hurts like hell.

  • AND THE CROWD GOES WILD!! Wait, what just happened?

  • I like how "googly" and "hot shot" are in the tags ;)

  • I watched this video and I still have no idea what is going on.

  • @Unreal75 hmmm that might have less to do with the video and more to do with the watcher ..... I'm just saying.GRIN Nah just kidding ,

Cricket can be as confusing as any other sport. what is it if i may ask that you find so befuddling?

  • only my left ear understood cricket

  • I recently had cricket explained to me by an englishman as, basically, reverse baseball.

  • I have some questions about the rules, if somebody would please answer them.

What happens if during mid run a fielder throws the ball at the wicket and knock it down? Is it ruled an out or only bowler can do that? If it's an out, which runner is out? The one running from or to the wicket? What if a fielder throws the onto the pitch and the batter during mid run hits it back and out of the field? Are they then awarded 6 runs on top of their current runs or just the 6 runs?

  • @ClutchKlutz During run, any fielder (even the one wicket keeper behind the stumps) can run someone out by throwing down the wickets. The batsmen who is out is the one who is running toward that wicket. If a batsmen attempts to hit the ball when a fielder throws it onto the pitch (during a run) then this is deemed as an obstruction and the player would be given out. They must not interfere with the incoming ball intentionally. Hope this helps!

  • I'm an American.

English Football/Soccer is the most watched sport in the world, no argument there. I hear Cricket is somehow second. I can understand rest of the world not favoring American Football, but I suppose the rest of the world doesn't like baseball, basketball, hockey, boxing or golf either? I've learned the rules and it all seems so delicate. How do you even know if it would've hit the wicket, if it hits the batter first? It all just doesn't seem very clear...

  • @ClutchKlutz Firstly, I believe that one of the major reasons cricket is seen as very popular is that it is the national sport of India - 1.2 billion people (or something like that). Then it is also played in many other countries in some form. The "leg before wicket" rule is judged by the umpire who is standing at one end. There is also several technology replays which can plot the trajectory of the ball etc. Sometimes this tech is used, sometimes not - depends on agreement of both sides.

  • @ClutchKlutz I see where you are going with this. I'm going to try my best to explain. Well, you are never quite sure that you will hit the wicket. You have to come up with ideas to deceive the batter/batsman or lead him to making a mistake to get through his defenses and get him out. I hope I helped you.

  • @ClutchKlutz I considedr this the beautify of the game... I always love cricket , can't stop loving it, it is like addiction.

  • @ClutchKlutz Baseball ranks at number 7, golf at number 8 and basketball at number 9. With hockey, I presume you mean Ice-hockey, wich is not in top ten, however, field-hockey ranks at number four.

  • @BigSkay50

    go look up this video

Keegan Meth lost teeth by straight drive (Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe 5th ODI 2011)

cricket is no where near 'gay'

  • @dabbuji1 So golf, not a hard sport to learn? the conclusion you draw is hard to backup with fact.

FACT: the reason Cricket is not the #1 team sport worldwide ( it is #2 though) is due to the fact that the British commonwealth countries wouldn't let anyone else into the elite levels to play until 1965.

  • @aussiefox golf is hardly a sport.

  • So it's basically one base baseball, but what the hell are the wickets even there for?! Batter could just be out if he swings and misses like in baseball with the catcher behind him getting the ball.

  • @ThisVideoAnnoyedMe

You are mistaken my friend. If the ball hits the bat and THAN the catcher (wicket-keeper) catches it, than it is considered out. If the batter missed the ball, than there is no such thing as STRIKE 1 etc.

  • ok

  • @nobulto17 it's not a combination of both lol. And if you did, you could say everything is a combination of everything.

  • ehhhhh no hitting or tackling like Rugby or american football?

  • so this is cricket, I thought you play on horse! At 31 I'm happy to know that, even if it won't change nothing in my world

  • Fielders have no glove? Lots of injured hands, I bet.

Bowler can run right up to batsman? Strange. Baseball pitcher can't do that. Must keep foot on pitcher's slab.

I'd love to watch a game. Don't think it's played much in my part of the USA, but I'll keep watch.

  • @Myiuth145 "nobody plays it here in the states" lol

  • @dinuccij SO SO SO WRONG ALONE IN NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY OVER 50,000 PLAYERS

  • @coltfordish i was responding to an idiot who said that 'nobody plays baseball in the states', not 'nobody plays cricket in the states'.... you wouldve recognized that if you had actually read my comment and seen the quotation marks around 'nobody plays it here in the states'

  • @coltfordish and cricket is still vastly unpopular in the states anyway, played mostly by immigrants.

  • Lol this makes me think of Quidditch... because there are many different positions and so much going on at once. Cricket really doesn't interest me, neither does Baseball. I prefer the more fast-paced sports like Football (aka Soccer) or Basketball.

  • @Myiuth145 r u kidding baseballs awesome

  • @BigSkay50 There is no "strike zone" in baseball they hit it on the full and aiming for the "batsman" is against the rules, in cricket the ball is all about bouncing (hence they throw it hard because it is leather). I love watching baseball and I am an Aussie cricket fan but the risk of injury from being hit by the ball is severe in both sports but far more likely in cricket. Hell have a look at something called "Bodyline" (google it). A Aussie had a massive heart condition after being hit.

  • @BigSkay50 yeah they wear pads, look up lasith malinga and then say theyre gay for wearing pads...

  • @Myiuth145 actually my american wife thinks cricket is like watching grass grow or paint dry , which sounds pretty boring to me.... Look baseball is a great game and takes a lot of skill. Look Cricket is a great game and takes a lot of skill. See the similarities in those sentences? oh and by the way there is more cricket played by adults in the USA then there is in Australia over 700 cricket clubs across the country. USA has one of the largest fan bases of cricket in the world also.

  • @aussiefox im assuming because of the multicultural folks though.Cricket is pretty big here in Canada as well because of our multiculturalism. although cricket sucks in canada because im white and would love to try cricket but the immigrants here scold any white people that try to play:(

  • @DrinkMoxie9000 Same in Aus, there are two local cricket teams in my suburb, one Indians, one Pakistanis, and how dare an Aussie try to join either. For us we just have to watch it at the pub :(

  • @aussiefox Thanks for the good words about baseball. I think there are similarities between both games, and differences as well. Cricket looks like lots of fun, and I like the freedom in hitting.

  • @aussiefox NOOOOOOO. CRICKET IS BY FAR MORE POPULAR IN AUSTRALIA THAN USA

  • @canadianchillazz look i understand your thought , but you have to look at the numbers.

    Australia Population : 20+ million

    USA Population : 300+ million

Cricket Australia puts interest in cricket at 1+ million

We know that the USA has more then 500 Cricket Clubs and 75,000 registered Cricketers and that The Pay Per View Cricket market in the USA is the 3rd largest in the world behind India & UK, they put the numbers at around 15 million cricket supporters in the USA.

  • @aussiefox in that case.....cricket is not popular in australia at all

  • @canadianchillazz

cricket is probably one of australias most popular sports...

  • @aussiefox apart frm the fact that statement is false, if it were true that could possibly be caused by the fact america has over 400mil people and aus 22mil

  • @smjim1 dude really , he got so many thumbs down because ignorant people couldnt be bothered to take the time to understand what he was saying. Anyone that takes the time to write that long an answer has seriously considered what was going on but didn't get a clear enough picture from a very basic intro video, if you are into sports, then it's going to raise more questions then it answers.

    .

  • @aussiefox Because it's your fault for sucking at hitting the ball, that's why you have to run.

  • I still don't understand it

  • Why the hell is there 2 batters?

  • ??????????????????????????????

  • @HannaBerlin what part didnt you understand? its prity stright foward really.

  • Damn, I finally get cricket. So this is what baseball copied?

  • @NicholasB1224 it is actually a myth that baseball comes from cricket. baseball does appear to have originated from England, but more from the influences of a centuries old game known as rounders. Major League Baseball has released a documentary showing the history of baseball, including debunking the long standing myth that it originated from cricket. it appears that both cricket and baseball are actually cousins from influences that took the path that now distinguishes them.

  • @HermitintheRain the documentary is called, "Base Ball Discovered."

maybe it is just me; but i find the whole exercise of trying to say one sport is better than another completely ridiculous. i don't know much about cricket, as i haven't ever played it or even seen an actual game played. but clearly millions love it. at the same time, while being devoted baseball fan, if given the proper exposure to cricket that i had with baseball, i am sure i would find room to like cricket too.

  • @HermitintheRain Thanks for the history lesson. I learn something new everyday.

  • @NicholasB1224 Actually, I think it's generally believed that baseball "copied" rounders ... which is a lot like baseball, except you hold the bat with one hand. Rounders is only really played by girls, as far as I'm aware.

  • The modern world likes baseball better because the time-frame of a single standardized game is much more uniform. A baseball game is 9 innings unless it's a tie. When does the stupid cricket game end? Gee I don't know, what dumb-ass third-world country are we playing it in? Uganda? Oh ok well that means it's 3 and a half days long unless one of the bobbers gets a tallywiggle sometime around hour 37. Get some standardized rules and then we'll talk about how cricket doesnt suck (which it does).

  • @bamcis17

baseball is not as popular as cricket in the world

  • This is the strangest game of soccer i've ever seen

  • @DoctorAtomic1111

Lol. I've played and loved cricket all my life. I also lived in the US for a while and it always was funny to me how Americans were baffled but also really interested in how cricket worked. Spent many, many, many hours (days!) trying to explain it to them - over a few beers, naturally. I got baseball (I think) pretty fast, but I can't understand how a batter hardly ever hits the ball and then everyone goes nuts when he finally slogs one into the outfield for a single! Mad!

  • @ludocrat Haha yeah I know what you mean. But the reason people go nuts is exactly because they barely ever hit the ball. Aussiefox brought to my attention how basketball and football have even more asinine situations and rules.

  • @DoctorAtomic1111

I never thought of that! As a former fast bowler, though, I appreciated the pitchers doing their thing. Amazing. So I wasn't all that bothered about the batters not all being Babe Ruth to be honest. Never got to see the basketball, but I saw a football game between the Broncos and the LA Raiders at the Mile High Stadium when I was 16. I had some idea what was going on but the game just stopped every five seconds, annoyingly. The atmosphere was great though - I liked that :)

  • @ludocrat interesting fact as regards Babe Ruth 1330 strikeouts, 714 home runs.

  • @ludocrat Because it's bloody hard to hit that ball with a round bat , different skill sets and while i'm not a huge baseball fan i do respect the game and the people that play it. It's just an awesome game, just as cricket is a awesome game.

  • @aussiefox

    I agree.

  • @ItsThatGuy8669 the reason i didnt get into that part is there is 3 distinct formats of the game played at the international level.

Test match 2 innings a side unlimited number of overs bowled - 5 days duration , 3 x 2 hour sessions a day ( think golf tournament , tour de france sort of thing)

One Day International 7 hrs duration - 50 overs a side bowled ( 300 fair deliveries ) 1 innings each

Twenty Twenty 3 1/2 hrs duration - 20 overs a side bowled (an over is 6 legal pitches) 1 inn each.

  • @DoctorAtomic1111 baseball is boring, but baseball video games aren't. i do understand the rules, my dad is like the biggest dodgers fan in the fucking country, ever since i was 5 he has pressured me into playing baseball on a professional level, because his dream was to see me pitch for the dodgers -.- i just hate the goddamn sport. i like the NFL, the NHL, the NBA, heck i even like the NLL and the MLS....but baseball, oh my god....and it's my own personal opinion, and this is a democracy

  • @Myiuth145 Go cry to someone else with your daddy issues. And THAT is MY opinion.

  • @berythegreatone Haha indeed. Hilarious how he brings racism and sexism in to it. Talk about ignorant.

  • @aussiefox Well played sir. Well played. But as for baseball, I suppose it goes something like, IF you get the ball in the field's boundaries, THEN you're able to run and try and score. Come to think of it, now that I actually am saying that, it does seem kind of ridiculous. You sir, are the greatest arguer EVER. I concede to your excellent points. =D

  • @DoctorAtomic1111 thanks for you input, 1) the idea is a basic introduction to people that are not familiar with the sport, all sports have arcane rules that would take eons to understand , as for the rolls or flies out of the field it just means , if you hit the ball past the boundary in the air it's a 6, if it get's to the boundary first having touched the ground you only get 4 runs. the idea being if you had the ability to hit it all that way in the air , you should get more runs for it.

  • Cricket is the greatest sport.

  • @aussiefox he means most aggressive... like most forwarding you know?

  • Very amazing cricket

  • baseball is better

  • @Myiuth145 no its not

  • @UserName0043 yes it is...go watch football or something, baseball is for women, old people and cuban immigrants

  • looks easier than baseball

  • now i know how cricet is played

  • I'm half English, my grandpa was a pro cricket player, yet I'm still clueless as to what cricket is =P

  • ODI's are 8 hours and T20's are 3 hours Test matches are 5 days

    Test matches kinda suck

  • Perfect for my teaching needs - explaining cricket to a classroom of tired sports majors - thanks!

  • Cricket is the best sport ever, especially with World Cups, T20 Cups, and IPL. India is the best cricket team in the world!!!!!!!

  • You forgot about stumping, run outs, and lbw

  • mind + physical = cricket

  • @eldraduffin actually ODIs take around 8 hours...... and T20 doesn't take half a day it takes 3 hours :)

  • @basilbrushnz strikezones arent small, plus in baseball you use a bat, not a huge paddle.

  • @BlackOppTamama But a baseball bat is identical whichever way you hold it, whereas the cricket bat's characteristics change depending on where on the bat the ball strikes and which angle its held at. The "sweet spot" on a cricket bat is about 2 inches square 3/4s of the way down the bat. Miss that square when aiming for a big shot and you will hit the ball into the air and be caught out.

  • @ljdavies1987 exactly, the bat is flat which makes it easier to hit. Same for baseball about the sweet spot

  • @BlackOppTamama look sure there are different ways to pitch a baseball and there are subtle variations but the fact is the ball bounces in cricket giving you the option to spin it, the ball has a seam on in giving you the option to make the ball hit the seam and deviate and the ball can also move in the air like baseball.

  • @eldraduffin odi, go for 8 hour , t20= 4 hour

  • @BlackOppTamama reply to what? those balls you listed are just ways of delivering a particular ball, there is also more than one way to bowl a slow ball in cricket (7 ways), we just dont name every single one, as far as i can see there are Fastballs, Breaking balls, Changeups and knucleball. the conditions in a cricket game ie greentop vs a dry and cracked can influence the outcome of a game big time, how does a grass field vs astro turf influence the speed, spin, swing, bounce in baseball.

  • @dchockeygoali07 yeah but nothing compares to getting hit in the face with a cricket ball. sorry about that have a good life.

  • Everyone should just agree that Football,

Futbol, Futebol, Soccer is the most amazing sport in the world

  • @basilbrushnz in baseball there are 2 seam fastballs,4 seam fastballs. curve balls, knuckle curves, knuckleballs, sliders, splitters, cutters, slurves, forkballs, screwballs, change ups, palm balls, and circle change ups. The fields are grass dirt, turf, or all weather. The grass can be cut to different heights. In baseball there are plays such as stealing, hit and runs, squeezes, bunts, fake bunts, slashes, first and third plays, double, or triple plays... You always have to know where to go

  • IF YOU WANT WEEK FULL OF CELEBRATION WATCH --> TEST CRICKET

IF YOU WANT ONE DAY CELEBRATION WATCH --------> O.D.I CRICKET

IF WANT HOURS OF CELEBRATION WATCH ---------> T2O , IPL CRICKET

WHAT OTHER SPORTS IN THE WORLD HAS THIS OPTIONS??

  • cricket is relaxed phase game ...it is the most interesting game in the world

  • cricket...combining baseball and golf into the MOST BORING FUCKING SPORT IN THE HISTORY OF THE PLANET.

  • @dchockeygoali07 yes so boring its the 2nd most popular sport in the world. Good work dickhead

  • @nabilion yes, primarily popular in countries in which i have no business ever visiting. sri lanka? pakistan? bangladesh? hahahahahaha.

i'll stick to my hockey/AMERICAN football, and some beer; thank you very much.

  • @dchockeygoali07 England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies (Jamaca, Barbados, Guyana etc), New Zealand where it is the national summer sport or in the case of Australia the national sport.

  • @basilbrushnz england = shithole. been to london before, absolutely hated it.

    australia = heaven.

south africa = racist pricks. a dirty, dusty, disgusting country. a bunch of bastardized dutch douchebags who still think they own the damn place.

    jamaica = somewhere i'd actually go, 4:20 :)

guyana, barbados, etc.... = no thanks

new zealand = too many earthquakes/nothing to do there.

  • @dchockeygoali07 That's funny , thanks for the humor injection. Cricket like watching grass grow and paint dry. BTW I love Cricket , but still see the humor in your comment.

  • Anyone that doesn't like cricket just don't understand good sport events. Baseball is a fine game. Of course so is hockey and soccer.Don't mind me a little football or basketball either. Bowling is fun. Curling is interesting and darts is kind of boring.

  • cricket is very fun i've played it, but its really easy if you play baseball. hitting with that big fat plank is alot easier

  • @goldyblita do you even know what baseball is, it takes alot more strategy than cricket.

  • Cricket. It's like baseball, with the equipment from football, where you swing like golf, and celebrate like soccer. I'm In.

  • @thewhitebrazilian Well that's one way to put it

  • @goldyblita Then you haven't really played either. I am American but I really like Cricket (not rugby) as they copied soccer footballl and hockey.

  • Now how many outs until the teams switch?

  • @Poptartza ten

  • @Ikamilla...You talk all about money and you think soccer is only for rich people. In South Africa most of the people who plays soccer are poor and the white's( most of them are rich) play's cricket and rugby. If you don't believe me look the south africa cricket or rugby team and soccer team. And if you want to say that cricket only need bat and bowl , i want to say that ice hockey only need a puck and a stick. A standard cricket batsman needs a bat, helmet, batting pad, batting glow and more.

  • Nice overview, but you used "batter". In Cricket speak, the correct words are "Batsman" and "Striker"

  • @milind006 So in talking to american school kids you think using terms they are not familiar with is better.

To all you others out there. come on as cricketers we can be a bunch of elitist a-holes. If we want cricket to grow in this country we need to help people understand why we love the game , not criticize thier great sports. sheesh!!!!.

  • @aussiefox My comment was not directed specifically at American school kids, but in general. And frankly I don't think there is anything wrong in using the correct terms. I mean you are introducing a new game, you use terms which are associated with that game. If you want to draw a parallel with baseball, you can always say that batsman is the guy who wields the bat, like a batter in baseball.

Why handle American kids with (pun unintended) kid gloves and not have know learn the correct terms?

  • @aussiefox And talking about using unfamiliar terms in front of kids no matter where they are from, I am an Indian, the whole language was unfamiliar to me when I was learning cricket :) I think it's good that children especially are told the right things rather than similar things just because it's easier.

  • Even if there is an alone hero that did a match-winning home-run, the whole team batted during the match.

It's not like Cricket, where the other batsmen simply DON'T bat in the entire game!

  • So it's basically baseball but instead of running bases you run wickets, and apparently the game takes even longer to finish. Not for me thanks!

  • Cricket is a lot harder to actually play because you score so many runs, and have to bat and run so much.

  • @urlove12day yeah, constantly running without using your brain..

  • @GodBlessYou2008

uh no you have to use your brain a lot...

I watched some baseball... well only little league

    baseball is like rounders..

    its not as athletic..

  • @GodBlessYou2008 and you have to think a lot because their are so many more fielding positions and dynamics such as if the ball is new or if the ball is old, and if it is wet, and then there are different kinds of bowlers, like spin, medium and pace

  • @milovy Lol fail comment

  • Hey uh, so i heard it could last for days, why is that? How do you win exactly? When is the game decided?

  • @milovy You know that cricket is a much harder and more dangerous sport than baseball right. You pussies have to use a glove to catch a ball that is actually softer than a cricket ball. The ball travels at more than 90 mph adn you have to catch it. try than then sy its for pussys

  • @rishi171 actually i think more people have died playing baseball then cricket. and a baseball may feel softer but impact studies are the same. As for the glove idea , i can see the merit . of course Aussies just drink another beer and dont feel the pain.

  • @milovy You know that cricket is a much harder and more dangerous sport than baseball right. You pussies have to use a glove to catch a ball that is actually softer than a cricket ball.

  • @lKamilia you r funny..you know, cricket was played by rich people . Moreover, Australia won cricket world cup 4 times.Do you think Aussies are poor? England invented cricket ,r they poor?.And do you think south american and African countries are richer than India. I think you from Canada. How many times your country qualified for the soccer w.c? 1, 2? Your current fifa ranking is 84. Oh sorry, u don't have enough money to hire the best physicians, best psychiatrists, and the best coaches.

  • Your right, cricket USED to be played by rich people. Not anymore in the modern world. Australia may have won the cricket world cups, but where are they in soccer? Australia is not a rich country. England is not poor, because they play cricket, why? Because they have such a strong soccer team. And, the reason why Canada DOES NOT, make a strong soccer team is because, there is not enough demand. Why? Because we are all immigrants, we support our home countries such as Italy, Spain, Korea, France.

  • @8DALE Also, you know why black people are so good at basketball but u don't see them in ice hockey? Because you can play basketball with 1 basketball and a local basketball net. However, ice hockey, u need helmets, guards, ice stick, a ice link, ice skates. = ALL MONEY.

    Cricket = Ball, bat

  • @lKamilia cricket you have to buy helmet, pads, spikes, gloves and maintain a cricket oval that is 3 times a big as a ice hockey rink. Plus the creation of a pitch. All this equals much more money. There is a reason why ice hockey only has 1.4 million players world wide. its just shit.

  • In my opinion cricket is the best sport in the world, bcz i love cricket. And whichever sport you like most that is your best sport. So watch this video and if u don't like just forget about it.....:)

  • Comment removed

  • ..great video!..never really understood cricket until i watched this..the basic premise is very much like baseball..and i'll be honest..it doesn't look as fun as people describe it..maybe it's something i need to try to find out..

  • gay

  • so you have to run like 20 yards to get a run... what is the score of a typical cricket game, like 50 - 40?

  • @waynestatewarriors now a days about 250 to 350 in a 50 over match

  • @Forbalone so rugby is for mentally disturbed fags because they rub against each other if that's the case then so is boxing karate judo cage fighting. In cricket they rub the ball against their bollix to get an eau de cologne. At least in soccer or rugby you won't get an amateur team to beat a "world class international team" ya mentally disturbed fag.

  • @forbalone. If I sent this comment from China would that mean I'm Chineese. Go and play a game of hurling and make a man of yourself. You won't get ur tea and fairy cakes while playing. Cricket - rain stopped play, frost, wind, light,

  • Rugby/American Football is just an excuse for fags to rub their bodies against each other

  • I kind of have a understanding of it, thanks for the video. Rather go play baseball, 100x better

  • @Nil8Z: Well, then go PLAY baseball rather than watching videos and jerking off in front of your computer

  • @Nil8Z thats alright not everyone has the mental ability to understand the entire game.

  • I'd rather watch paint dry.

  • @Ghost10251 Yeah, thats better for you to grow into fat ass. good for you.

  • cricket cannot be taught......

  • this shit sucks... id much rather watch baseball, which is the most boring shit ever

  • @kefkapalazzo1 hey just because you don't have mental strength to watch the sport doesn't mean you should call it shit.

  • @nabilion youre right i cant sit through 6 plus hours of anything... im not that boring

  • @kefkapalazzo1 meaning you have the concentration of a rodent. kk thanks for letting me know that explains everything.

  • @nabilion ok. id say i get bored of things quickly, but 6 hours isnt quick.. idk, maybe most humans do have that "attention span"... or maybe i just find cricket boring. its not about intelligence, you pretentious fuck. why dont you go watch elephants mate for 6 hours. and lets how you handel that. and btw, me not being able to sit down and watch something for a logn period of time says nothing about my concentration, especially if i dotn like it. it makes me human.

  • @kefkapalazzo1 when did i say it was about intelligence? I'm saying you find it boring because you can't handle your brain being stimulated for such a long stretch of time.

  • @nabilion mental strength maybe? you know, when people say one has a strong mind they mean one is smart....

  • @kefkapalazzo1 you can be smart but when hardships come your way its your mental strength and will that gets you through.

  • First of all, may I just be old-fashionedly English enough to say that the word is "batsman", not "batter"?

Oh, and the Ashes are a series of matches played between England and Australia, for a trophy composed of an urn containing the "ashes of English cricket". Google for the full story.

  • First of all, may I just be old-fashionedly English enough to say that the word is "batsman", not "batter"?

Oh, and the Ashes are a series of matches played between England and Australia, for a trophy composed of an urn containing the "ashes of English cricket". Google for the full story.

  • cricket.....still got no idea how to play......

  • Do they have to hit the ball on the ground? Or what?

  • @Rockyeeful Not necessary, but almost always it is done coz it creates uncertainty in the batsmen mind due to variation in 1) Point of hitting the ground 2) Speed 3) Bounce after hitting ground 4) Spin on the ball due to nature of surface etc.

  • Go Windies!

  • -contd

(and considering a batsman like Mark Waugh) on crease. If a field can be divided into 6 segments with preference for 3 segments as it has been seen for most of the batsman, you can easily see what is the probability of any fielder running. very low.

  • what is the ball like in cricket?

  • @JeromeViolist It's made of Cork and Leather, weighs around 5.6 oz. A string seam separates it into 2 sides, one side is kept rough and the other is kept shiny by the fielding side. This then helps the ball to "swing" or move in the air, talented bowlers can then use this to their advantage. You will see the fielding side rubbing the ball against their legs a lot to keep it shiny on the one side.
