In case you don't know Elves, if not killed, are immortal therefore it's kind of a big deal when they die. and Legolas sheildboarding! best part of all three movies! haha!

Me too, jaws900! Haldir got so little screentime so I was POd when they decided he should die, mostly because he doesn't die in the books. Don't worry though. We get a bit of revenge. If you haven't seen it, the second part of the Return of the King Extended, Legolas gets to kill one of the Corsairs who is played by Peter Jackson! I think that's revenge for killing Haldir.
If you don't have it, rent or buy the Return of the King Extended Edition. On disc 2, the movie continues. It begins with Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli taking the Corsair ships. That's when Legolas gets to "kill" Peter Jackson. I love that scene because I think it makes up for Two Towers.
If Haldir was still alive then I'd agree with you and say Aragorn should've done more to save him but that wasnt the case. As for honor, I'd like to think Haldir would've prefered to be left among the elven warriors he led to Helms Deep

I don't think Haldir would think it honorable to be left like baggage among those Uruks. What honor is there being left to the mercy of foul creatures? No, he led them he deserved to be protected to the Uruks couldn't touch him. Aragorn should've known that.

Haldir was my second favorite Elf and it hurts since we won't see King Thranduil until the Hobbit is made. That's what gets me fired up.
Because it is taken by Isengard. You already see Uruk-hai walking upstairs to the gate with the Ram. Its a skip forward, its day when you see that flag, it was night when you saw the rohirrim retreating.
That's kinda why I get ticked off. Because I know he didn't die in the books. It's not fair that such a good character had to die on film and we don't see him live on with the other Elves. It does give me consolance, nonetheless, thank you.

I don't care what the situation is. Aragorn shouldn't have left Haldir among those Uruks. Haldir died honorably so give him honor and move his body. As I said, it's bad enough Aragorn didn't protect him. Leaving his body is worse. And it's bad enough Haldir died in a horrible way. To leave him among those Uruks is cruel. If Aragorn were more considerate, he'd move Haldir to safety. It's just common sense and honorable.
The situation being that Aragorn was surrounded by Uruks while he was holding Haldir in his arms, so common sense dictated he leave Haldir's DEAD body (He wasnt alive) and get himself out of there before it was too late... and just what are you saying he didn't protect him?what is he suppose to do babysit him? He ran his ass up the stairs when he knew Haldir was in trouble but was too late so what more do you expect of Aragorn.
Haldir got stabbed twice. Once in the stomach, again in the back. Aragorn should've saved Haldir when he got stabbed the first time. He only looked up AFTER Haldir received a fatal wound. Had Aragorn gotten there sooner, Haldir would've lived. He wasn't quick enough. He can still run like crazy with Haldir's body. It's cruel he leaves him, reason or not. I think it reasonable that if he didn't save him from death, save him from desecration. Aragorn didn't think of that. But he's a Mortal.
Ya I believe Aragorn ordered that charge a bit too early, I mean at least use up all your arrows and just keep nailing them until you're out of that option. I guess what he was attempting to do was stem the breach with force because as you can see they were rapidly losing that piece of real estate and leaving the guys still on the wall to be flanked from behind. Not to mention Gimli was being trampled by the Uruks, so maybe it was to save him as well.

Only thing, where was Aragorn when Haldir was dying? Usually I'd say Elves don't need help, but Haldir was dying. Where was Aragorn and why didn't he save him? He was watching Haldir die and he should've done something to save him. What I don't like is he leaves Haldir's body in the middle of the battle. He doesn't move him to safety. He just leaves his body there. It's one thing he didn't save him;he should've moved his body. Haldir deserved better.
Aragorn was trying to get to Haldir when he knew he was in trouble and by the time he came to his aid Haldir was already dead so why bother trying to carry his dead corpse to what safety really? Like someone said it's combat logic you cant burden yourself like that when there are defenders still alive and enemys to slay.
He failed to save him-the least he can do is save his body from desecration among those Uruk-hai. Leaving Haldir there is no way to honor him after his sacrifice. Legolas had a heavy burden hauling Gimli and Aragorn up the wall but he survived. It's just not right that Aragorn leaves Haldir in the midst of the chaos knowing what those Uruks will do. It's bad enough he failed to save him. At least he could honor the dead. Legolas would've done that for Haldir.
Easier said than done! There's no time for that in a middle of a battle, expecially if you're losing it! And legolas had help! He' s not the only one pulling the rope and had a safe distance from the uruks, whereas Aragorn didn't
Orlandogirl, go back to the video, watch when he Haldir dies, watch when Aragorn jumps onto a ladder seconds before being captured/killed, and also notice where he runs up that flight of steps with uruks 10 paces behind him...
its unreal that he would be able to grab his body with 1 hand grab the ladder with the other hand, then land, then race uruks to the top of a flight of stairs, all the while carrying the dead body of a fully grown elf.
Aragorn can kill Uruks and carry Haldir away at the same time. Haldir didn't deserve to be left there like discarded baggage among those Uruks. Those Uruks would love to eat an Elf. I wouldn't have left Haldir there if I were Aragorn. He failed to save him, which was bad enough. Leaving him there is just cruel. Besides what was he doing away from Haldir anyway? He should've been beside him at all times.
dude you have waves of orcs around you, arrows flying, dead bodies everywhere. you've wasted enough time looking at a dead Haldir, i dont think you have enough to carry him back to the keep, and probably a well placed shoot from the Uruk-Hai could've killed aragorn like Boromir
PJ is so lucky I love him! I hate it when he decided to kill Haldir! It's bad enough Haldir doesn't get much screentime, to kill him is even worse! Since we haven't seen King Thranduil yet(Prince Legolas's father) Haldir is the 2nd coolest Elf. It's not fair he had to die when he lived in the books, especially when his death had no meaning. We know Elves can die in battle so his death was pointless and torturous. Especially in frickin slow mo! I love Haldir!

there's a mistake in the movie, what does that isengard flag do on the keep which is still in rohan hands? on 7.11

Because it is taken by Isengard. You already see Uruk-hai walking upstairs to the gate with the Ram. Its a skip forward, its day when you see that flag, it was night when you saw the rohirrim retreating.

That's kinda why I get ticked off. Because I know he didn't die in the books. It's not fair that such a good character had to die on film and we don't see him live on with the other Elves. It does give me consolance, nonetheless, thank you.

they added it for plot and emotional weight. It's a hollywood thing. Call me an asshole but I felt it was a good decision to make him die. He didn't appear for the rest of the books and was sorta discarded by tolkein.

I don't care what the situation is. Aragorn shouldn't have left Haldir among those Uruks. Haldir died honorably so give him honor and move his body. As I said, it's bad enough Aragorn didn't protect him. Leaving his body is worse. And it's bad enough Haldir died in a horrible way. To leave him among those Uruks is cruel. If Aragorn were more considerate, he'd move Haldir to safety. It's just common sense and honorable.

The situation being that Aragorn was surrounded by Uruks while he was holding Haldir in his arms, so common sense dictated he leave Haldir's DEAD body (He wasnt alive) and get himself out of there before it was too late... and just what are you saying he didn't protect him?what is he suppose to do babysit him? He ran his ass up the stairs when he knew Haldir was in trouble but was too late so what more do you expect of Aragorn.

Haldir got stabbed twice. Once in the stomach, again in the back. Aragorn should've saved Haldir when he got stabbed the first time. He only looked up AFTER Haldir received a fatal wound. Had Aragorn gotten there sooner, Haldir would've lived. He wasn't quick enough. He can still run like crazy with Haldir's body. It's cruel he leaves him, reason or not. I think it reasonable that if he didn't save him from death, save him from desecration. Aragorn didn't think of that. But he's a Mortal.

Ya I believe Aragorn ordered that charge a bit too early, I mean at least use up all your arrows and just keep nailing them until you're out of that option. I guess what he was attempting to do was stem the breach with force because as you can see they were rapidly losing that piece of real estate and leaving the guys still on the wall to be flanked from behind. Not to mention Gimli was being trampled by the Uruks, so maybe it was to save him as well.

i think they all should have retreated in the keep way earlier, they would have lasted longer, and had more men if they did that
and wierd part is all i saw on soldiers were sword and axes, no spear, especially since in middle age times those were the cheapest soldiers

Only thing, where was Aragorn when Haldir was dying? Usually I'd say Elves don't need help, but Haldir was dying. Where was Aragorn and why didn't he save him? He was watching Haldir die and he should've done something to save him. What I don't like is he leaves Haldir's body in the middle of the battle. He doesn't move him to safety. He just leaves his body there. It's one thing he didn't save him;he should've moved his body. Haldir deserved better.

Aragorn was trying to get to Haldir when he knew he was in trouble and by the time he came to his aid Haldir was already dead so why bother trying to carry his dead corpse to what safety really? Like someone said it's combat logic you cant burden yourself like that when there are defenders still alive and enemys to slay.

He failed to save him-the least he can do is save his body from desecration among those Uruk-hai. Leaving Haldir there is no way to honor him after his sacrifice. Legolas had a heavy burden hauling Gimli and Aragorn up the wall but he survived. It's just not right that Aragorn leaves Haldir in the midst of the chaos knowing what those Uruks will do. It's bad enough he failed to save him. At least he could honor the dead. Legolas would've done that for Haldir.

Easier said than done! There's no time for that in a middle of a battle, expecially if you're losing it! And legolas had help! He' s not the only one pulling the rope and had a safe distance from the uruks, whereas Aragorn didn't

Orlandogirl, go back to the video, watch when he Haldir dies, watch when Aragorn jumps onto a ladder seconds before being captured/killed, and also notice where he runs up that flight of steps with uruks 10 paces behind him...
its unreal that he would be able to grab his body with 1 hand grab the ladder with the other hand, then land, then race uruks to the top of a flight of stairs, all the while carrying the dead body of a fully grown elf.

Aragorn can kill Uruks and carry Haldir away at the same time. Haldir didn't deserve to be left there like discarded baggage among those Uruks. Those Uruks would love to eat an Elf. I wouldn't have left Haldir there if I were Aragorn. He failed to save him, which was bad enough. Leaving him there is just cruel. Besides what was he doing away from Haldir anyway? He should've been beside him at all times.

dude you have waves of orcs around you, arrows flying, dead bodies everywhere. you've wasted enough time looking at a dead Haldir, i dont think you have enough to carry him back to the keep, and probably a well placed shoot from the Uruk-Hai could've killed aragorn like Boromir

PJ is so lucky I love him! I hate it when he decided to kill Haldir! It's bad enough Haldir doesn't get much screentime, to kill him is even worse! Since we haven't seen King Thranduil yet(Prince Legolas's father) Haldir is the 2nd coolest Elf. It's not fair he had to die when he lived in the books, especially when his death had no meaning. We know Elves can die in battle so his death was pointless and torturous. Especially in frickin slow mo! I love Haldir!
