  • Genius begets genius.

  • My God!!! My ears!!! I will never be able to unhear this...

  • Great job Dwight. Great song from "the only band that ever really mattered"

  • Wow, excellent cover! Thanks for putting this up!

  • I so enjoyed this song and video so much i thought it was super. hugs deborah sha sha xoxo ireland

  • Great song, love it.

  • Nice tune!

Love the way Dwight sing it! :)

  • He's great isn't he,and that banjo playing is a neat touch.

    Thanks.

  • nice arrangement

  • I think so too:he is an exceptional musician and singer.

    Thanks.

  • He changed the chords making it a I-IV-V thing for the verses. Whatever. But I don't get why he didn't use the choruses as "is;" I like them better than what he did here. For sure it's the definition of what a cover can be at it's best in re-making a song into something new, though. Amazing job.

  • A great cover of this song:I agree.

    Cheers.

  • @jackstpaul He's just following the bluegrass/country tradition of I-IV-V. Plus he's doing it in G major.

@tuktukskagal Love this cover! (And I'm copying it! lol)

  • great :D

  • This is soooo goooood Tuks, I've always admired Dwight's pure and natural country sound, nothing fabricated about his music or his travels. He even had the young rockers rootin' him on in the clubs of LA where he played often back in the early 80's before becoming a big star. He'd pull up on his Harley in his leathers and hit the stage with his Bakersfield sound. GREAT MUSIC by an OUTSTANDING ARTIST. Thanks bunches for posting this Tuks. Peace,...Mark

  • I can picture Dwighty doing that:just getting off that Harley and hitting that music that makes him so special:unique and stands out. He's fantastic..not many people could do such a great cover of a classic.Love Dwight Yoakam.

  • Someone said this about Dwight Yoakam and I think it's so true...

"Very country.. effortless and with the big heart!"..

  • Love it! Thank you Tuks, maybe one of his best:-)

  • It's a great cover of a Clash classic.

He's just so good..love that banjo too.

  • Great cover of a Clash song

  • Isn't he great. Thanks Ricky.

  • Holy mother earth! My favorite country singer covering my favorite rock band! I can't believe Dwight is a fan of The Clash! I never even knew this album, Under The Covers, even existed! Man I got some catching up to do. Great country rendition of a classic New Wave Rock song!

  • Not bad for a mechanic with a guitar! Dwight is a fav of mine and this is GREAT! Thank you for th post!

    KUDOS & ***** all around

  • Yup;he's done very well from humble beginnings. He covers this song by The Clash so well. Great guy.

  • i love the clash and im just starting to discover dwight, and i gotta say, this is an amazing version! its really got that classic, old time sound to it and his voice is amazing

  • It's from their 1979 album "London's calling." I'm glad you like Dwighty's version of this classic.I think he's got a great voice too.Cheers.

  • Pure genius to discover that there is a great country song hidden there somewhere...love this version

  • Love this Dwight song :D

  • Me too. He's great is Dwighty.

  • Dwight wrote Wild ride! ^-^

  • Yes I know:but he did not write THIS song. This was written by The Clash and this is a brilliant cover version of the song.

  • That's amazing what he did with this song. I just listened to The Clash version. Only Dwight could

have listened to that song and heard what a great country song it could be.

  • Too true! He does a brilliant version of this song:and that banjo playing is so cool too.

  • Yeah, that banjo playing is just perfect. Really a brilliant interpretation of the song. On a personal note, this teaches me that I need to be more open-minded when listening to songs in genres that don't interest me. There may be hidden country songs lurking in the most non-country of songs.

  • i can see that u know ur stuff tuks.

  • Cheers! Glad you like it.

  • You're absolutely right there Tuks, from London Calling.

  • I know! I know! Tx.

  • The Clash sang a Dwight Yoakam Song?

    I can't believe that.

  • Obviously not in the same league as the original Tuks, but a decent country version haha.

  • Cool that you like this so much.

  • Great post Tuks, like this country style, he have a unique voice

  • Oh yes:he sure does.Unique voice and unique style.
