I can see the point of upstaging your his puppet. He does the puppet work great but he keeps it fairly far away from his body. When I watch Ave. Q they have near their faces, probably so to more easily hide their faces. I think that's the only problem. Although the expressions of Nicky's actor make me kaugh in the actual thing.
Are you kidding me? Guys, this isn't about "puppeteering" it's a f*cking musical that requires a lot of talent work and dedication. That puppeteering is the LEAST important thing.
I hate it when people get jealous and start saying aww u rushed it and all the focus was on u, its stupid. HE WAS AWESOME. Go YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just congratualte him. For fucks sake.
@angelssexy88 We're no0t saying he was bad; far from it. The thing is that the focus DOES have to be on the puppet. The puppeteer is, for all intents and purposes, meant to be a part of the background.
I love Ave. Q and that song is hilarious but honestly that guy kind of sucks...... I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, but his puppet had almost no lip-sync at all. I mean, the singing was fine and he knew all the words, but it's like he was too busy concentrating on doing the acting himself instead of letting the puppet act.
sort of a different feel for the character of rod, but I like it. the puppets lips werent really in sync with the song though, other than that, I really liked it!
i like this guy his voice was great so was the puppet movement when he went to the puppets higher voice if he could he should ave used tht this is one of the best i seen good job turst me i probley couldnt do better lol
this performance would have been a hell of a lot better if you concentrated more on the sylables for the puppets mouth, it didnt work that you did half the song moving the mouth and then not... good try though :)x
i was being constructive, i dont comment on bad videos, whats the point in that? if i dont like it i'll leave it. this guy is good but with a little bit more work he would be great combining voice with puppet.
Awesome! I love this song! Very nice voice! Just in my opinion though, in "Avenue" they give the puppet it's own voice. Different from the actors. But other than that it was awesome!
You need to practice the ways of the puppet. Your energy should be concentrated in HIS movements, not your own. And the lip-syncing just needs a lot of practice, it's not hard once you get it down.
clearly you misinterpreted my comment. I was saying how he was making himself too noticeable. facial expression is always great but dont upstage the puppet.
I think I see what you mean. The actors in the musical made some serious facial expressions, but even if they were over the top, the puppet was doing something even more interesting. XD I love Avenue Q. It's really clever.
@abuthemonkey but the whole point of avenue Q is to give the puppet more life by letting the audience see the puppeteer because (due to lack of facial mussels) puppets cannot express heavy emotions.
@silentcentreet But never to the extreme. When you watch Avenue Q, your attention is naturally drawn to the puppet, and it feels like it's the puppet talking. Here he's the main focus. The puppet could be gone and it would be almost exactly the same in this case.
@abuthemonkey I kinda agree, but I think the camera angle is a big part of it. He's in the middle of the screen, and the puppet is off to the side. So the attention just naturally focuses on him, so you just see his performance a lot, cause at the same time it would be boring if he just stood there with bland face. None of the cast from Avenue Q did, they were just as much a part of the performance.
He looked at his puppet what I don't understand

@LinkDaHylian5002
good point.
you need the talent and different arts as a whole to create what it is.

You're using your puppet wrong. Humans speak by moving their lower jaw, and you're supposed to do the same with puppets.

@angelssexy88 'Suck on that, bitch'? Trying to act hardcore on the internet just makes you look sad.
Just sayin'.

Be careful with your tempo's. You rushed the tempo several times and your pitches were not always accurate.

Your rhythm fluctuated at points and the puppet's mouth didn't sync up at points, but not a bad performance, 7/10.

mixedking 3 years ago
dude, you totally upstaged your puppet.. BAD. it's avenue q - the focus is on rod, not his puppeteer.
being able to command attention is not a bad thing, but not when you're a puppeteer.
