The real question beanbenderful might ask is what was her purpose in creating a super permissive mother to blame for wandering into some painful choice? Were there lessons to be learned in such a choice? Surely your mother didn't desire that choice for you, did she? WHO made the choice? What did you learn? Our desires are all "natural" until we learn that this one or that one does not serve our long term purposes. Some of us are slow learners. We need life to thump us harder than do
some others? But not of our/your choices can ever be "wrong". They're just choices, made with whatever you knew, thought or felt AT THAT MOMENT. You were always free to change the choice. My guess is there were some very good things which came out of your "bad" choice which you may not, as yet, have looked at.
I disagree. My mother was way too permissive. I abused drugs and alcohol for over 12 years. We need to question whether our desire is "natural" as asserted here, or conditioned. So much of our desire is manufactured in our culture. As Joseph Goldstein put it, we don't need to follow our hearts desire - we need to purify our hearts first before we can do that. Parents need to guide children to purify our hearts - not just let them run wild with their 'calling.'
permissive parenting and connected, child honouring parenting are not the same thing. A child who feels seen and honoured has no need to run away into drugs, alcohol or other escapes. I am sorry you felt lost and that your parents weren't there for you, but I don't think that is what Abraham is talking about here.
Excellent ...thank you so much for uploading! My partner and I would like to thank you for the music choices you make. It just adds that much more Listenbility ( I know that's not a word :)

As parents, we all want to protect our children when they go online.
Thanks to advances in technology this is getting harder and harder to
do. Internet predators are getting smarter and so are children. When
you buy parental security software, you have to update it on a regular
basis and monitor new websites to ensure nothing gets past the
program. Thanks to SnipeSlider, it no longer has to be this way. This
handy program works (and continues to work) as a key to the Internet. Snipeslider, com

Was abusing drugs and alcohol the result of truly listening to your heart?
