Accutane: month 4 complete

do the dermatologistis only give you accutane if all else antibiotics THEY provide have failed, or the antibiotics that we personally tried have failed? I have mild- moderate acne, and was wondering whether I can just go on and asked to be put on accutane?

@BurnKilluminati Accutane, for me, was definitely a "last resort" kind of thing, because of the amount of side effects that come along with the medication. My dermatologist prescribed it to me after all the topicals/antibiotics that I had personally tried AS WELL AS the ones that were prescribed. If you only have mild-moderate acne, I'd see what other options there were, because Accutane is pretty intense.

i get my first blood test today and then i have to wait a month before starting accutane. what time period would you say was the worst? im just concerned because i start a week before my birthday haha

Hey, I'm 15 and just got done with month 4. My dermatologist increased my dose from 40 mg to 60 mg after month three and it helped a lot! Also, it's like all of our symptoms were and are the same, so my experience has been just like yours!

Hey you run cross country?? thats awsome! Im a really competative runner and I started accutane a week and a half ago and im really worried it will effect my preformance because of tiredness and pain and whatnot. What did you experience when running?

accutane is different for each person, but i haven't experienced any differrences as far as pain. i'll get the occasional leg cramp, but it'll go away in a couple of days. i don't think being tired is a symptom, but depression is, so just keep an eye on that. good luck!
