How awesome is this. I love it. Great post. Reminds me of the Boston concert I saw in Boulder CO in 1979. One of my top favorite shows of all time. Thanks. You made my day.
The polarity of responses regarding Boston is truly baffling. This album is a masterpiece by itself. It is unfortunate that the only direction to go from there was down...
yeah i agree and i m not that crazy about rock but i love classic rock ... and this is as classic as it gets along w/floyd ,deep purple, zepp, cream (anyone rememer eric clapton ???
@carolineelainepalmer I'm a self proclaimed metalhead. I went to see Clapton in '85, cuz it was a free ticket with my friend. I had the attitude going in that he would suck, hes just an old blues player, right? Wrong! I've been a big fan since that night. And have had an open mind about all music.
this album was produced with 4 track studio equipment..well part of it anyway...Tom Scholz masterminded the whole thing..it undermined the big studios big bucks state of the art blah blah blah....thats why RS disses this ...you can create all sorts of stuff with 4 track you dont need a high priced studio or its engineers ....just good hearing, good friends, and good musicians
As I close my eyes and listen to this I am transformed back to Fall 1976. For those that were not alive back then all I can say is, I am sorry you missed the party!!!!!
This was "cruisin' " music. My friend used to pick me up in his rusty '69 Mustang in 1979 and we'd just cruise listening to this music, singing at the top of our voices!!
The whole album GREAT.... If this isn't one of Rocks all time classic albums I don't know what is... Bradley Delp you are missed everyday my man... R.I.P. brother....
mpjgbx....while i'd agree with you, you can take solice in this, we both know that this album is in our top 500 greatest albums of all time list. heck, probably in my top 100 albums of all time. thanks to R0IIRight for posting!!
I saw them Halloween night 78 in Philly and they sounded really really good.I was surprised because I didn't think they were going to be a good live band. Exile opened for them riding their "Kiss You All Over" fame.............. The Boston sound was SO unique then and still is today."Hitch a Ride" still gives me goosebumps 30+ yrs later
This and Rumours had every song on the radio and this album to be as clean as it was without todays tech is what made it great and fuck RS they know jackshit and that fuckstick who looks like a Ramone wannabe is on every VH1 special like HE is the authority. God Bless Boston.

@mpjgbx Don't forget Guns 'N' Roses' "Appetite For Destruction". Or "Led Zeppelin I". or Black Sabbath's STD. or "With The Beatles/Please Please Me". Or, if you want to talk about Punk, "The Clash (US & UK)", "Ramones", or "Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols". Or, if you want to talk about girl power, Liz Phair's "Exile In Guyville" and Alanis Morrisette's "Jagged Little Pill". OR, if you want to talk about Rap and Hip-Hop, Biggie Smalls' "Ready To Die". And on and on.
@mpjgbx I agree...everywhere we went in the mid 70s up till the early 80s......boston was playing somewhere on a daily basis and everyone knew the riffs and lyrics...very influential on the guitarists of my generation.
I will never get for the fucking life of me why this album didn't make "Rolling Stone" magazine's Top 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time list. This is as good as any album released in the 1970s, including anything by Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who, or whoever you can name. Maybe "RS" hated the album B/C of its slick production, I DON'T KNOW. I know this: The Production values of this album blew a lot of music people away, including Sabbath themselves, who put them on their American Tour.
@LMCMInterloper: I think it's because the editors of Rolling Stone believe that good rock and roll albums have to be either: A) angry and socially challenging (Let It Bleed, Tommy, etc.)
B) mysterious and lyrically complicated (Seargant Pepper, Houses of the Holy, etc.)
Boston, on the other hand, is just about having fun and singing along to the awesomely catchy riffs. The editors probably saw that as vacous. Still, they should have looked at the facts - 17 million copies, guys.
@LMCMInterloper Rolling Stone would rather give stoners who put peanut butter all over themselves on stage (Iggy Pop, this means you) on their list than bands that more than 400 people in the world have ever heard their albums before. That's part of it.
@LMCMInterloper Who the fuck cares if an Album is recognized. You and me both know that this album is amazing.. fuck the media trying to make everything seem popular. Let this be our treasure between you and me.. and the rest of the people..
I can't get over how solid the drums are. Fucking spot on. Boston forever!
