  • aw man - been too damn long since I last heard this!! I used to use the first :29 seconds as a background break beat (dubbed off cassette) for my outgoing rap answer machine messages --- yup, those were the days!

  • Ooooh snap..haven't heard this in forever too. DJ Jazzy Joyce was truly underrated.

  • Wow, not heard this for years, got this on the Champion label in the UK…still a kicking tune!

  • ahhhhhhh memories...............................

  • Immediate time travel to the corner with a 40 of Old E & "Bluntage" standing on the block with a leather joint on

  • Yo this track still bangs after 25yrs, dam Sweet T or should I say Dr. T now !

  • BraaaP!!!

  • I was in the 10th grade at James Monroe in The Bronx when this joint aired on the radio. It still rocks in this day and age, too.

  • stil loving it,I was 15 when I was walking with the big G blaster. Those days was bigger is better, look now mp3 small as possible.Funny.

  • thanx so much lance. good info playboy. Sweet Tee is right up there in Antoinette, MC Lyte, and Roxanne Shante'

  • most people nowadays don't remember how fresh Sweet-tee was.

  • AHH YA!!!

  • raw biz*

  • break out the casio and the drum machine!! always loved this jam

  • i remember i bought this for my brother back in like '86.. it was on a Mr Magic compilation tape.. Fresh Prince's "Girls of the world" was on the same tape.. the good days

  • Ok Don't just try to say there would be no hip hop if it wasn't for James Brown. George Clintion and His P Funk Can Take alot and I mean ALOT of Credit as well and Roger and Zapp as well. The only really question should be why did she only do 1 album??

  • kr aftwerk was all electronic but sampling pushed hiphop farther than bam ever did. he was a pioneer don't get me wrong. he would tell you that with out james brown he would not even be an emcee. yeah now hit me.

  • this is the funky drummer slowed down. without james brown there wouldn't be modern hiphop.

  • try kraftwerk..ask bam

  • no its not its clyde stubblefield and james brown funky drummer. please go do your research before you try to debate anyone. i seen them perform this the year this came out. who's voice you think joyce is scratching. ask bam about that. bambataa used kraftwerk for planet rock.

  • @lanceishiphop

    shut up..i'm talking about the cold crush,g-force,new cleus,imperial bros,high fidelity 3arthur baker,jonzun crew,cybotron,twilight 22,imperial brothers,divine sounds,doctor jr kool..etc..

    electro funk 1982-1986 kraftwerk inspired

before that 1979-1982 sugarhill/enjoy era disco breaks

    now fuck off

  • @lanceishiphop just to be absolutely correct, we need to shout out to James' drummer Clyde Stubblefield who actually conceived and played the funky drummer beat. Thanks to James' selfishness, Stubblefield has never received a penny in royalties for this. No wonder he refuses to play it.

  • @lanceishiphop what you should say is, without Clyde Stubblefield. The JB's drummer played the funky beats on the Funky Drummer plus many of James' other early 70's creations that are so often sampled. Clyde hardly made a penny from his work because JB creamed off all the royalties and we need to pay due respect to Mr Stubblefield to make sure he gets the credit he deserves - the original funky drummer, still alive and playing in his home town of Madison.

  • This BEAT is CRAZZZZYYY!!!!

  • old school shit always will be here. this a classic.

  • sweet t was the shit. My fav song was i got the feeling

  • Damn. I just heard the 'cold kickin ass' sample from the NWA Dopeman remix. Old School, fool!!!

  • really sweet!!!!!!!

    JAH BLESS

    joyce

  • So Nice & Classic Legend of Old School, love this song since ever !

  • aha!it was their phrase that famous "1,2,3 now hit it!"

  • 4;)

  • I've been thinking about this song all day, so I had to listen to it. Love this song by sweet tee. One of the best female MC's. All I listen to is classic old school hip hop.

  • OMG I loved this song back in the day. I can just see myself. I thought I was soooooo fly! LOL

  • Where did they sample that "huh, what" from. I've heard it so many times.

  • oh nevermind it's from Peewees Dance

  • good question, or how bout "this beat is real fresh" i used to hear that all the time, even in the movie JUICE with Tupac and Omar Epps DJ'ing.

  • "Me gettin' rocked by who I doubt it"

" Jazzy Joyce on the wheels Jazzy Joyce no one betta Jazzy Joyce is faster than an '86 Jetta" Sick ass song with a phat ass baseline

  • Tempo bom so dava black med, chic show.zimbabwe.......!!!! palmeiras club da cidade, roler super star.....santana samba sam set,.Eduados, club homes..etc.Inesquecivel.

  • i love this jam but then i love all of sweet tee's music, DOPE!

  • this shit bangs! i still have the wax. love how james brown's funky drummer was looped.

herby luv bug was puttin out hits

  • I won a copy of this 12" off Mike Allen when he was on Capital Radio...seems like yestaday.

  • dope shit i remeber it as a 15 yearl od kid in manchester england loving this track first week it was released.

  • red alert used to cut this up severley on kiss fm.

there was nothing in the world like smokin sum sticky pick apart tide stick and sippin on a 32 OZ ( there werent no 40s yet then lol) and listening to kiss fm in the 80s till 12 mid then the real fun started going to union square, latin quarter, roseland, roxy, and funhouse..

  • yea,you're right! fuckin youtube,i can't find my first comment :D

  • Man this song is still FIIIYAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!

  • I always liked the scratching on this cut, not to loud she worked the fader real nice. I always respected and liked Jazzy J from Sweet Trio. On "Non-stop" she reeealy, in Runs words "Cut the record Down to bone" word...

  • true statement

the real roxanne would rip lil kim to pieces

when i posted those comments i hadn't had much contact with select records---not the case now

  • My man, keep studying keep diggin be a student all historians study the past and they can tell you things about people places and things that those who lived in those times dont know and it's all from studying. I dont know how old you are but you're def up on the "essence" real hiphop and I respect any younger person that listens to the foundation so pass it on to whoever will accept it thats how we keep it alive. Peace

  • this ain't roxanne donn't you know yo hip hop

  • the best real female rap!!!

  • i dont understand,is that so difficult for someone to make this today?thats why hip hop is so crap these dayz cause they disrespect its real form.

  • she came out a couple of years later under the name suga but the music wasnt as good

  • Comment removed

  • this is classic old school! in the days of trade bags and roxanne and mop necks lol

  • Lord Finesse Percee P sample

  • i was 12 when song came out and i was sayin ....Sweet T don't stop!.... that beat was bangin in 85!!!!!

  • more evidence that women can't rap (lil kim is the exception)

  • Comment removed

  • God I stand U arrogant, ignorant ass kids who hide behind computers & try & diss something U obviously don't know anything about & weren't even born when it came out..

Stay in a kids place & go listen to that wack ass Soulja Boy nonsense & leave the REAL hip hop to those of us who grew up with it..

  • no thank you, i'll just listen to the good "REAL" hip hop, and she sucks a fat one. de la soul, a tribe called quest, funkmasterflex, grandmasterflash, schooly d, that's good real hip hop, she's a miserable lyricist. and frankly i don't give a fuck if you grew up with it; I listened to it all AFTER it went out of style---so what? i've listened to all the beatles albums, i've read books written 200 years ago, and i have opinions on them too. i've heard one good female lyricist: lil kim

  • Typical idiototic kid on YouTube trying to pose as an adult & spewing your typical ignorant, uninformed & immature rhetoric..

  • what about what i just wrote was ignorant, uninformed, or immature? did you even read my comment? or was it too long for you?

i really do despise your kind

    fucking moron

  • Then stick to being the no historical perspective havin', who's taste in music is typically garbage when it comes to golden era hip hop here on YouTube, clown that I KNOW U to be..

That way, the TRUE fans of REAL Hip hop, can be spared the annoyance of having to address the ignorant nonsense U dummies ALWAYS wanna post on these vids..

Go play with the other kids & stick to corporate rap music..REAL hip hop apparrently goes over your head..

  • no one will care when you die

  • I have a family that'll vehemently disagree..

Besides, what in the hell does that have to do with the topic at hand?

But those are the kinda' ignorant & immature comments dummies like yourself typically post because U fools seem to be incapable of constructing a coherent & plausible stance on the matter..

  • no one will care when you die

  • agreed 100%. very well said.

  • I was about to leave it alone bcuz you right, you have a right to your opinion and if you're a student of hip-hop it dont matter when you were born. T33 wasnt wunna the best females to me, I like Pebbly Poo Sheryl Delite Betty Boop Lyte Antoinette Latifah better. To me the best Female was Rox Shante she went at dudes plus she called names in a time when MCs merely threw hints at each other she def took her respect now Lil Kim aint top 5 to me but thats my OP.

  • THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!, REALFAN you said what i was thinking these young ass kids dont know nothing about real hip hop, i feel sorry for them, they dont respect original hip hop from the 80's... i think they are a litle jealous because they were sperm cells at the time...

  • Where are the real women mcees like this nowadays? If they ain't showing and talking about how much they want money and having sex, they think their not making a song! What happen to the skills and the beats? Bring back real female mc's and real hip hop Shot out to the best female dj on earth! Jazzy Joyce do yo thing!

  • Word. Let's take it back to go forward.

  • support them and we will see more....Jean Grae doesn't talk about sex only yet she still gets shelf. Listen to her music and tell me we don't have female emcees. The problem (I'm apart of it) we don't buy their music and record labels are all about numbers...so until we get behind the real we want to here...there will continue to be a void on the radio. Trust they are all over if the fans support them with their dollars.

  • Love this! real smooth on the mic, 4-sure! Antoinette was smooth and had some speed, but Sweet Tee had some mad skillz!

  • Oldschool rulez! Straight to the face beat and superb lyrics that really mean something! Loving it!

  • demais....bons tempos

  • dam i used admire sweet tee she still sexy

  • Damn she was good!!! By a young modern hiphop fan.

  • Lovin' the old school rap.

It's just so not the same. :(

  • I used to get ALL of this from the KISS FM and WBLS back in 85-89 in NYC.... Crazy period in Hip Hop. Oh yeah. Atlanta had this late night show called the Fresh Party... I used to get tapes from there too... If you remember let n*ggas know... This is that REAL HIP HOP. If you want more... Check out the videos on my account. Trust me, you'll flip.
