Wow... I'm playing this piece for a recital and I've had this exact recording from my teacher, and it doesn't have a name for the player. It was so frustrating because It's taking so long to get it to this level! Turns out I was trying to play better than Itzhak Perlman! Like that's ever gonna happen. I must say though it's quite a relief. I love the way his runs slide together. I don't know how many people have tried to play this song a tempo but man... ooooh man...
Sea de la nacionalidad que sea, es un virtuoso del violín y al que no le guste porque es judio que no lo escuche y que me diga donde hay otro vionilista mejor que I.Perlman.
it has to be perlman...i have a cd of him playing this and the audio is exactly the same. maybe its just the difference in live technique versus the recording quality at the time that you're picking up
Guess it could be anyone but what really matters is the joy this song brings to my soul, the rest...well...of course it's important, but even if he's not, then what? =)
Are you sure? in wich year Oistrakh had played w this sound..oistrakh sound it's like this? never!!! Oistrakh sound's had no nois of cra cra bow on string! probabily this is no perlman but this in not the sound of the great Oistrakh, i think this is Ruggero Ricci.

Perlman is pretty good But heifetz was elected as the Violinist of the century.
Considering the methods that were used for recording when heifetz was playing and the methods they use now Heifetz is still way Better than Perlman. But Perlman is pretty good .......
So, you just told me " fuck you too..." First of all, that is not by any means an acceptable style in conversation-it shows, though, who you are.The other thing is that Ido not even know the reason for your anger?!--Is it because of my statement that there is no such thing as THE top violinist? Well, that is so, for sure! I love many violinists as Perlman, Mutter, Heifetz and so many more-sometimes I think, well, he/she is the best here and now, then it´s some other...and that is good-o.k.?
You asked for it--yes, it does make me sad to attract anger like yours just for making comments on music. By the way, don´t you think, too, that a respectful tone is better for all of us? We ought to treat each other the way we wish to be treated ourselves, please! This is never wrong. I can very well accept your admiration for Perlman--I know him personally and man, he is just something else. He plays the violin so effortlessly as you and I breathe-great!
seriously... who do you think you are to criticise perlman??? he is the top violinist in the world.... its a joke that anyone can criticise as noone has a leg to stand on when doing so... yes maybe he doesnt play every piece totally perfectly.. but every musician will be the first to tell you that there is always room for improvment an that there is no such thing as perfect playing.. he is the top violinist in the world... so.... shut up!!
hey, nat144, you cant see expression cause you cant see him. If you have ever seen the Maestro play, you see alot of emotion. Use your imagination, and imagine him play zapateo. I can see him all over the place while playing this song .
Everyone speaks so highly of Vengerov, but I was a little disappointed with the one CD of his that I bought. I've never heard him live, maybe he sounds better in person.
Well he does have a very unique style. I find that some people think it's brilliant, but others don't really care much for it. So it's really just personal opinion
where can i get the music sheet for this song?? i really wanna play it. also for u guys that have played it any tips or techniques that u can tell me especially on the left hand pizzicato.
Though this is a good point that you have made, I have a different opinion about Perlman's Pizzicato (especially his L.H. Pizz.)
If you listen to the recording of him playing "Zigunerwisen", you will notice that his Left Hand Pizz. is pristine and clear. It is even more interesting if you compare this to other recordings
He plays it better than Henryk Szerying, and every note is played with expression and meaning.
What I really love about Itzhak is that he exaggerates every term in the score...the loud notes are played strong, whilst the soft notes are so delicate!
Such a shame Sarasate's own recording of Zapateado is so fuzzy.
I never got how to do the left hand pizzicato in this song. Wayyyy too hard for most.
I haven't been able to practice today; my G string broke halfway through. It's been sounding funny for weeks...the first snap was probably one of the threads breaking. One more twist on the pegs was too much for it.
Why always the G string is so sensitive ? I have never broken my E string which is supposed to be the thick and fragile but I have broken G too ! I have never tried to practise this to tell you about this left hand pizzicato..but i know playing part of the Caprice Basque with the ringing open E string left hand pizzicato which sounds so funny :p
The G string vibrates the most. Tzigane really wears it out, the first 20 bars or so are all on the G string...and since I use that song to warm up before I play Zigeunerweisen, where the really strong pizzicato and rough playing near the end wears it out even further, I'm not surprised mine broke.
woah woah woah...in the beggining there suppose to be octaves right..he played the first note, then the second octave, then on the 3rd it was a little flat. but it was all great.
No unfortunately but i wish to have whole's Midori Carnegie Hall debut...I have only her chopin as well as the Mozart that i uploaded...I know she played Tzigane too and Last rose of summer but I dont have them :(

AmateurViolinist 3 years ago
heh. He WAS THE GREATEST VIOLINIST, before.
but now it would be the Itzhak Perlman.
Also, one more thing.
Oistrakh WAS NOT ABLE to fast staccatos. He once has announced to everyone that if someone can teach him how to do it, he would give his whole asset.
HOWEVER, the sound he makes from the violin was the prettiest thing ever, indeed.
