@xSpiderFromMarsx It's called stop motion animation, or claymation. They probably made a model or clay figure of the sandworm, and would take thousands of pics of it (moving it very little in every pic), so that eventually it would come to life like in the video.
@Caqui I know, I work on some stop motion shorts of my own :) I meant to say I much rather watch a movie with this kind of animation, in which so much artistry and painstaking time goes into it than computer generated imagery. Same goes for animatronic puppets, etc.
@xSpiderFromMarsx Jurassic park was originally set to be made with stop motion rather than CGI. The Art team even made some short animated tests and walkcycles (which you can actually find on youtube), which are, in my opinion, superior to the CGI. There's this realistic quality to it, which isn't lost with the CGI, but looks rather unique. Ironically, Jurassic Park was the last nail on the coffin for claymation in Hollywood, thanks to it's many CGI innovations.
@Caqui Wow, I would have loved to see that. I agree with that though, there's a certain tangible feeling you can't really get from CGI. I'll have to go look that up now.
Geena Davis said "byotch, eat knuckle sammich!" I love that the sand worm even squeeled a bit lol; She's my hero, I mean heroin: The Perfect Drug lol You go gurl!

@Caqui Didn't want to tangent too much, but basically, I agree with you. It'd be cool if we could see more stuff like this, more often.

That Sand Worm was like a whale from the way it was slithering through the sand.
