This is one of the best videos I have seen. What the world does not get is that this is how Berlin was to look after all the fighting was done and Germany was to be able to finally breath with ease. If you examine the policy of England & France after WW1, you would understand why this was soo needed. Germans by their very nature are a proud & industrious people and by provadence meant to lead. I have no hatred or disdain for the Jews as many of you do. The Holocaust was a terrible thing, and it has tarnished any credibility the Nazi's could ever possibly have.

Remember, these buildings were to be the showplaces for the new world capital of Germania. With victory in WWII, Berlin would have been transformed into a new Rome. The buildings were supposed to show the power and dominance of the State over the individual.
The thought was that after 1000 years people would see those great buildings and think what a great society it must have been even if the Nazis had lost power centuries before then.

The giant stone buildings of totalitarian regimes is meant to signify stability and longevity. No. The buildings were a metaphor for the superiority of the state over the individual. Albert Speer wrote in his memoir that later he was rather embarrased at all this nonsense. The buildings show no originality, are rather bland looking and appear lifeless. Speer agreed that one problem is that Hitler or whoever would have taken power after the war, would also have appeared tiny and insignficant. Hitler speaking before 100,000 in the Great Hall would have been almost invisible.

i do miss the good old days when buildings had some aesthetics. Albert Speer had some good designs. The late roman mixed with art deco meets a bit of high baroque...genius. regardless of Adolf Hitler's intentions and methods, these buildings would have been amazing. However, considering the marshy soil of the Berlin area, they would have taken decades to engineer. the projected completion of 1950 would have ended up being 1957 or later, i'd imagine

That's not entirely true. He didn't hate dark haired Europeans. In his opinion, blonde hair and blue eyes was ideal, but there were different branches of the "Aryan" family. Blonde hair and blues eyes were from the nordic branch.
