To everyone out there Bruce Lee was a master strategist and not only that he learned quickly and he trained better than most of the fighters today. If Bruce Lee was so great why didn't he make millions in boxing fighting real fighters? Example: Sugar Ray Leonard would've killed Lee in the boxing ring. Outside of the boxing ring, it might have been different. I dont know. I just know that Ray would've destroyed him in a real boxing match.

Observations show that most fights end up on the ground, and Bruce Lee would've standed zero change on ground grappling with a Brazlian Jujitsu master. For example, Bruce Lee wouldn't have standed a change in competing against Rorion Gracie in a street fight or a MMA match.

Diversity of styles means -nothing-. Anyone who has had to use their abilities for more than just dry-humping in the Octagon will tell you that the knowledge of one's physical being means far more than what "styles" you've studied. Bruce Lee even denounced his own style because it was predictable. -Real- assassins, street fighters, etc. use all sorts of "illegal" or "black" moves that 99.9% of dojos forbid. I wont go either way in the if bruce fought mma fighters of today. But to call MMA athletes thugs and goons is incredibly ignorant. MMA fighters spend many years training, dieting, learning. Bruce Lee was a MMA fighter of sorts who went against learning only "one fighting techniques" and diversifying himself in many different forms of martial arts.
There are many athletes in MMA that are gold medal Olympians, firefighters, school teachers, etc. They are hardly "thugs and goons".

The fighters of today have a far more dangerous arsenal of attack than did the fighters of only 15 years ago. I remember the day Bruce died, hearing it on the radio. It saddened me greatly. But Bruce, while he was far ahead of his time, wouldn't last a round against the fighters of today's MMA. They are far too skilled in all areas of fighting and are not restricted by a "style". For them it's not about show but about win. Edgar, GSP, BJ, Aldo, anyone of these guys would destroy Bruce.

@pokerisometrics lol. He's just showing the flaws in tradition martial arts. If a punch comes from a certain angle at a certain speed then even profsesional martial artists couldn't block it. That's what Bruce did a lot in his demonstrations. He got a volunteer from the audience (usually the champion) and showed them how flawed their M.A. was. which is why a lot of them hated Bruce-- He was kinda like shitting on chinese tradition.

Just these backfists. People were very offended when he would prove their stances wrong, kicks, etc. Prob why they werent recorded, maybe, who knows. :P

I mean, if you've read Tao of Jeet Kune Do, and I used to have that book next to my bed and read it every day when I was 18 or whatever... and then if you see Enter the Dragon, you can see Bruce's very sophisticated use of combining Kung Fu with boxing footwork, as well as stop-kicking and Savate, and transitioning well from outer ranges with very nasty striking.

In this 1968 video, Lee was 28 years old which pretty much was in his prime BEFORE he became a millionaire Hollywood star. You are saying he got better after 1968 fighting Hollywood and NBA stars? Lee grew up in real street and gang fights in Hong Kong then went to the US to kick American butt.

This is entirely my opinion, but I think the DBZ character of Goku is based on the real life legend Bruce Lee, think about it, if Bruce ever ran into someone more powerful than himself, unlikely, but possible, in redgards to his power level as a fighter, Bruce would've done just like Goku and trained to become even stronger than he ever was before. Bruce Lee is the real live Goku, and Brandon, Bruce's son is Gohan, who was on his way to surpassing his father, just something to think about.

Bruce is applying a fencing technique with his Jeet Kune Do art here. I recognize it because I took fencing for several years. However he's using his arm and hand in place of a rapier.

But he later on also explained that wing chun was not enough so he has changed to Jen Fang kung fu then lastly to non-style form of kung fu Jeet Kun Do which is the ancestor of MMA style. The fighters of today have a far more dangerous arsenal of attack than did the fighters of only 15 years ago. I remember the day Bruce died, hearing it on the radio. It saddened me greatly. But Bruce, while he was far ahead of his time, wouldn't last a round against the fighters of today's MMA. They are far too skilled in all areas of fighting and are not restricted by a "style". But forget about Bruce, if you compare the modern soldier or boxer with the past, I think past warriors and athletes were tougher and stronger. Modernity produces softer weaker people.

@pokerisometrics lol. He's just showing the flaws in tradition martial arts. If a punch comes from a certain angle at a certain speed then even profsesional martial artists couldn't block it. That's what Bruce did a lot in his demonstrations. He got a volunteer from the audience (usually the champion) and showed them how flawed their M.A. was. which is why a lot of them hated Bruce-- He was kinda like shitting on chinese tradition.

@adamzez That's of course true, so maybe some other martial arts were even more myopic. Obviously, though, the technique Bruce demonstrates here has massive vulnerabilities and flaws though, right? I mean he throws a backhand slap from two feet away, then drops his hands completely and is just standing there. I mean, MMA, combat, boxing, karate, sparring, whatever... there's just no way that is realistic.

@pokerisometrics Yeah exactly. He was just trying to demonstrate the flaw. He demonstrates way more flaws one by one, step by step. Because he wanted these Martial Artists to see in detail, punch by punch, kick by kick, how in-the-box they were. Unfortunately, his whole demo sessions aren't on tape from what I know. Just these backfists. People were very offended when he would prove their stances wrong, kicks, etc. Prob why they werent recorded, maybe, who knows. :P

I mean, if you've read Tao of Jeet Kune Do, and I used to have that book next to my bed and read it every day when I was 18 or whatever... and then if you see Enter the Dragon, you can see Bruce's very sophisticated use of combining Kung Fu with boxing footwork, as well as stop-kicking and Savate, and transitioning well from outer ranges with very nasty striking.

In this 1968 video, Lee was 28 years old which pretty much was in his prime BEFORE he became a millionaire Hollywood star. You are saying he got better after 1968 fighting Hollywood and NBA stars? Lee grew up in real street and gang fights in Hong Kong then went to the US to kick American butt.

Pacquiao is a good example... switch out Jhoon Rhee and put Pacquiao there, and you can see what I'm talking about. Anyways, Bruce is cool. Here's a piece from it: "Bruce Lee fought three preliminary bouts with three different opponents. He was able to knock them all out in the first round. Bruce Lee made it all the way to the final bout. He was paired against the British boy, Gary Elms, who had been the defending Boxing Champion for three straight year."

This is entirely my opinion, but I think the DBZ character of Goku is based on the real life legend Bruce Lee, think about it, if Bruce ever ran into someone more powerful than himself, unlikely, but possible, in redgards to his power level as a fighter, Bruce would've done just like Goku and trained to become even stronger than he ever was before. Bruce Lee is the real live Goku, and Brandon, Bruce's son is Gohan, who was on his way to surpassing his father, just something to think about.

But he later on also explained that wing chun was not enough so he has changed to Jen Fang kung fu then lastly to non-style form of kung fu Jeet Kun Do which is the ancestor of MMA style. He is way too fast lightning speed. His son, Brandon Lee on the interview said he was way too fast he could not see his father's fast punch.

@kalimaganeshshivan One additional information is that Lee only studied 2 years from Ip Man for wing chun. Never completed the entire thing of wing chun. Lee also said that "Absorb what is useful and discard what is useless" other than the famous philosophy of formless water becoming a cup. What makes Lee different to create such motion is that he trained his muscle to be flexible and compact its cells rather than having huge heavy muscle.

@JustinP the sheer fact that bruce lee was so fast that apart from no one being able to block his attacks like the demonstration above further proves but the cameras had to be slowed down for us to see it in those movies you spoke of every fight scene hes in was either slowed down or he just didnt swing as fast as he could + his attacks were so brutal that his kicks could send a 300 pounds bag to the ceiling and he out did EVERY person who tried him
