  • Did you use marine grade wood ? or just go with luan?

  • nice job, anyone can build a stitch and glue, plywood on frame, or plywood boat, anyone thinking of not doing it because of the fiberglass and resin component, don't let that scare you away, its not hard, and even amateurs can yield good results.

  • what are the dimensions of the canoe? thanks

  • good job dont care what the 1st called you imagination that is what counts CHOWCHILA!

  • @bengarrett192 please check homemade plywood canoe 2

  • @bengarrett192 fuck u dickhead!

  • The canoe's hull looks kind of thin to me, but still good work

  • Now, we're talking. I saw the ....canoe 2 video. Actually I saw it a long time ago, but never linked it with this video. Who's idea was the folding? That's brilliant. I remember being very impressed when I saw that........nice finished product.

  • It was my idea out of necessity. i have very limited area 8'x12'. For me to bring it out of the apartment, i have to fold it. I also have a small truck with limited space. Just brainstorming. plus the beauty of th eonline world. and google.

  • For anyone looking at this video, this canoe is not finished by any sense of the word. It needs gunnals, the rails along the top edge. It needs some structural cross members and some seat to add structure. Not to mention some support at the bow and stern at the top edge. It has potential to be a well finished product but it's missing too much at this stage to call a canoe. The rest of the project will require some serious time and skill not to mention the right tools.

  • please check the finished canoe and type "homemade plywood canoe 2"

  • Should be stable enough with a good load and deep seats i like the way the wood comes out with the resin paint!!

How much did that set y back??

  • we tried 3 people on board and it worked well. please type "homemade plywood canoe 2" for the finish canoe.

  • it wont work it will get soggy after time and sink

  • it works. please type "homemade plywood canoe 2" for the finish canoe.

  • I really dislike flat bottoms on canoes because every canoe I have been in with a flat bottom, seems very unstable. I know I really have to put an effort to actually flipping over, but it SEEMS unstable.

Pretty nice project though. I hope it all stays together and not fall apart.

  • please check the finished canoe and type "homemade canoe 2".

  • me!!i build that once and its good!i make aircraft carrier out of plywood!

  • nice!!! i like that.

  • Hey i really love your canoe! Im gonig to make one, and i was just curious how tall you made the sides on yours. Also did you put an angle from the bottom (where the sides connect to the floor ), To the top of the bow and stern? Or was it a straight cut? Thanks in advance.

  • there is a space for the epoxy to set. overlap or edge to edge, it will work because the epoxy is back to back. good luck

  • In Louisiana , this type of boat is called a pirogue they are made of wood ,fiberglass and aluminun and are use a lot in the swamps and marshes. Search Louisiana Pirouge.

  • sweet!!!

  • Also how long is your canoe and what are the dimensions of the plywood and what kind of plywood is it?

  • 14 to 15 ft. 3 ft wide and 15 inches on the side. i use marine plywood. dont use any type of epoxy, use "marine".

  • well you probably live in U.S but i dont and Canada doesn't have as good stuff in stores and stuff but il try home depot or homehardware.

  • home depot has some good epoxy. if you can go to a marine boat supply to buy the marine plywood and marine epoxy, then it will be better.

  • where do you get polyester resin or fiber glass tape to stick it together beacause i have a plan to make one out of just 3 sheets of plywwod and need something to stick em together

  • I bought it at a specialty store in Dublin, CA where they sell marine epoxy and fiber glass tape. Maybe you can get it if they sell signs and plastics. I was having a hard time looking for them until I asked a guy from Home Depot. Online too, but you have to pay shipping.

  • Building your own canoe is great fun, so much more fun than simply buying one.. I think everyone has a canoe inside them waiting to come out.. do a search for "Birchcanoes" on Youtube for some of the canoes we build ( in 3 days start to finish).. John

  • i have not seen such a beautiful craft sinch the launch of the titanic

  • Thank you.

  • @dragonfitter Wow ,your pretty old !!!

  • Nice one. I have been thinking about putting one of them together for a while, I have all the tack not sure I bought enough resin - how much resin/hardener did you use? is it possible to install a seat of some kind off the floor?

  • 1 Gallon for the epoxy and half a gallon for the hardener. Yes, you can install a seat on the floor. Check my part 2 movie.

  • nice work better thank i could have done

  • Thank you.

  • OK, I'm planning to build a plywood boat. How did you put the sides and the bottom of the boat together? Fiberglass and nothing else? Did you work after a drawing or did you just put it together as you went?

    Looks great on the water.

  • yes, I put the sides together with a fiber glass tape with marine epoxy. go to bateau. com. they have a free plan for this boat. some of the techniques i learned it along the way. good luck.

  • I couldn't find the free plan. The cheapest canoe plan I see is $10 though. Did you buy the wood from them as well?

  • dang!!! that canoe is the bomb!it takes a genius to make one as perfect as that! and to think this is the first?OMG!what more in the coming next??hmmm pimp my canoe

  • Thnaks Chowie!!!

  • good job chow

  • cool
