Most Ashkenazi Jews, even the most lily white, blond blue eyed ones, usually carry genomes indicating ancient Middle Eastern ancestry. Not all Middle Eastern ppl are dark. And yes, there has been mixing throughout the Diaspora but not as much as some think. Jews in Europe were still a relatively isolated group.
