@nearfall76 Fantastic game of rugby washed down with a few Rev James by Brains. Fantastic pint. Search Brains Rev James in Youtube I gave it a review last year, cheers :)
I finally got to try this, it was pretty good. Is it considered a stout? Rate Beer and Beer Advocate call it a "mild". I think it's way too robust to be a mild.
I got a tobacco/cigar/ashy taste to it. I did like the sweet backbone too.
@ChadzBeerReviews Wow that was very nice of Zak to send beer out to you :) when I go out with family and friends this is what I drink all the time on Cask, I love it, with the Brains SA this is my "home" beer, if that makes sense. Absolutely over the moon you got to try this one, Cheers Chad :)
@realaleguide I saw you posted this as a video response to my review. I accidentally hit "ignore" instead of "accept". Please try to do it again. My bad!
Your reviews are excellent. I am new to the world of ales and every recommendation you have posted I have liked. I favour the dark ales. Thanks for posting these mate. All the best!
@mrgrimviking I am sorry but I have only just come across this post, been away on holiday. Thanks for your support on my channel, I have just posted a great new dark beer called Barn Owl from Cotleigh Brewery, cheers :)
@realaleguide Haha this was one of my first comments on Youtube Simon! I just recieved a load of beers from Brains and they chucked in a Dark as well as some of their stouts. Is this the same beer? I checked ratebeer and it says the Stout is the Dark. Confused. Look forward to trying them now. Cheers mate!
@mrgrimviking Yes what you have is the Dark but its bottled, the Brains Original Stout is a new beer only released a few months ago. I prefer the Dark bottled look forward to seeing your review of it, cheers Dave.
had a couple of these last night , in my opinion this is a great beer. so far its nearly one of my favourites.would love to try it on tap . dont think it would be any better on tap though. really smooth , full on flavour . might get some more for the weekend. i chilled mine a little not too much .
@biffobhoy1 Oh yes the Brains Dark, WHAT a beer, I get sent beer from all over the world, most very good, but there is just something about a Brains Dark, cheers mate :)
Hey RealAleGuide, do you know of any way to get this beer out in the states? Ive tried every business i know of, or hear about from asking around and nobodies even heard of it! *cries* You think there's a company there that might ship it out?
@Pibbmasta I have an idea, why dont you e-mail bill.dobson@sabrain.co.uk or failing that send one to laura.overton@sabrain.com, I am sure they will ship some to you if you mention me, if the email fails try putting a capitol letter for the start of their names and SA, but im sure I have the right one, cheers you will enjoy it :)
@nearfall76 Their adverts are fantastic, they tried to make a lager called 45, but it didnt work for them, all the other beers are Ales, better that way though :)
That's right, they are using chocolate malt in this one to get it that dark for such low ABV beer. From you tour it looked like they are only using three malts for this one - pale, crystal/caramel, and chocolate.
Today would have a been a good day for a Brains! heard the win over Ireland was really exciting

Ah!!! Brains, my favourite brewery. Definately one of the reasons why I love Wales so much. Dark is great but the Reverand is still the best.

@bramleybull Oh I have reviewed the Reverand too, that is such a good beer, mind you Dark is amazing, I cant choose

More positive thinking from Brains!
It wouldn't be Wales(W*le*) without SA!
I love their ads, and what kind of beers do Brains usually brew? They are ales right? Not lagers?
