  • should i shoot this for my first powerful hand gun im 13???

  • I shot a .44 magnum and they are freakin powerful. That gun was the most powerful handgun i've ever shot.

  • Hey, love your videos. I'm a new sub! So for safety in brown bear country. Would you use something like this 44 or is the Glock 20 a better choice? Or some other hand gun recommendation?

  • Dont mess with this guy

  • that's a great looking gun. I really like those grips

  • Dear santa...

  • "gongs are always in season, 12 months a year" And then a dewgong waddles out from behind the trees. BOOOM! then rolls flipper over flipper down the hill "yee haw heh heh sweet sweet!"

  • i have a super blackhawk its a custom .41 only ever fired 1 box i bought it from the owner its a beautiful gun cant wait to go hunting with it

  • gotta have it

  • Great Review, I love this... I am going to get 1. Have You ever got a chance to review a BFR in 45-70? Thanks!!!

  • I have an Old Model Blackhawk in .357 Magnum. It's tons of fun. The action on the old model is just like the Single Action Army: Half cock releases the cylinder, and the loading gate is just a hinge. Probably made before that lawsuit you talked about, because my uncle had it sent in during a recall Ruger did and the transfer bar was put in.

  • I bet if you shot fast enough you can play a tune.... like a badass.

  • Ever have spontaious gardens pop up from the fruit explosions?

  • Exellent, Your fruit killing skills are remarkable

  • so what is the best barrel length for these?? I know that they come in 5.5" 7.5" and 10" I am wanting to buy one used and have found several for under $400 but am unsure which barrel length to get. I will be using it primarily for bear defense up here in Alaska. Any advise? Thanks.

  • @SimonBearSr02 If you're going to pack it around just in case, you had might as well save yourself as much weight as possible and get one in the shorter barrel lengths. They make the SBH in 4.6" as well, btw.

  • I just realized that you never pushed the base pin all the way back in at like 7:30 and then continued to fire it! Not that it's going to do damage but just saying! Love your videos hickock45!!!!!

  • how mutch dos it cost ?

  • Cool

  • Just fired mine today........badass

  • I love shooting the 44 :) keep up the work big guy!

  • This has to be my next firearm purchase. Too cool!!!!

  • How in the world do you clean this thing?

  • @Whocares05050 the cylinder comes out

  • BOOOM!!!!! ((mild laughing))

  • Want one, Great video!

  • Bought one, absolutely love it!!

  • There is no way Santa is gonna leave now with out me seeing him! xD

  • Как ахуенно, бля, а мне в россии такого не светит, тоже бы прикупил себе пару револьверов и пистолет =(

  • I had a regular old non-super Redhawk with the scope ring cut outs. Dead nuts with a red dot as far as I could see. Sold it for the Blackhawk. I have come to love single action. Fun fun fun. Hotter the better.

  • I'm buying one just like that come February !

    Can't wait !

  • dirty harry shoulda carried a Super Blackhawk. love my 3 screw!!!

  • I just got a Smith and Wesson M&P TRR8 for my 16th and I am interested in this gun, the performance is amazing!

  • im curious to know what you do for a living

  • @josiahg09 he is a teacher

  • I just put a super blackhawk .44 w/ scope on hold yesterday just for hunting. That's how I found this video.

  • I want one of these so badly! When I get one, I'll probably get it color case hardened with a good oversized finger grip- The .44 does NOT mess around! :P

  • @dodeyamsi nor does the degle 50. cal hangun :)

  • @mw2rules1999 Deagle is a joke of a gun. More of a range curiosity than anything usable. This (the ruger) is something you can bet your life on and take to the ends of the earth.

  • Went to the range with my father this morning.shot the same revolver.but the metal was black.

  • 1957. The first .44 magnum was the Ruger SUperBlackHawk. I am a regular veiwer, I was on here when you had 50 Subs as Sabbthmusic ; as long as a I behave myself and DO Not question why people think a piece of iron is sexy. I always wondered how much of it's internal emulated the Colt SAA. SO needless to say On a Colt SAA, you should leave the chamber under the hammer void of a cartridge, can we assume this?

  • @Doyouknowhowmuchusuc The main reason you leave one chamber empty in a Colt SAA is, because the Colts do not have what's called a hammer block. A hammer block is basically a piece of metal that is behind the firing pin that keeps the hammer from contacting the firing pin when it's not cocked. How it works is when the hammer is cocked or the trigger is pulled to cock the hammer on a double action revolver the hammer block moves down unblocking the firing pin. When the trigger resets it moves up.

  • @Weaponcollecter16 SO COWBOYS back in the old WEst had to carry like that if they wanted it too be safe eh? WHen Tuco in the Good the BAD and the ugly is in that gunshop, the owner mentions Colt, Remington and than 2 other off the wall names that aren't even around anymore. LIke P something.... I got to look at the movie with subtitles to research it. I just got my Ruger SUper BlackHawk....

  • the redhawk was mentioned in the video. any footage of the redhawk?

  • I just got this gun for free (father died), don't know shit about it... so if i want to shoot it at a range (or woods) what steps do i need to take? I'm not sure if i am even old enough, i turn 20 next month. And should i even keep it in the house or what? i dont have a permit etc etc.

  • I can't believe such a beautiful firearm that performs so well is so well priced!

  • @DolittleMccoy you would be giving him your gun plus some. 45 LC Blackhawks can be found around $300 in good shape used.

  • Just shot this gun today it was awesome

  • Question? I own afew different handguns but i'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to good deals or trades. I have a Smith&Wesson Model 14 .38 special +P and a local pawnshop has a new Ruger .45 Blackhawk long colt. The Ruger is priced at $503.00 and they are willing to trade with me for $350 dollars boot. "Is this a good deal/trade or can i find better?"

  • @18:25, I wonder what fried gong tastes like...

  • @shootcentermass OH my god.....Just don't tell him not to call his Ruger Sexy, LOL. I heard he doesn't like that. Yea , it is a great channel, as far as funding, he is a millionare, did you think he won all these guns from U-Tube, LOL

  • This was my first hand gun. It's not the hunter version but the SBH new mod in .44mag with 7.5" barrel, It was quite a shock coming from a non hand gun owning family having never shot a hand gun to purchasing this at 21 (legal age in michigan to buy) and going to the indoor range and cutting loose. What an amazing gun.

  • I like the joke about the instruction manual. As if that warning on the barrel makes people read the manual.

  • 21:35 u can see the bullet....

  • I simply love my own SBH 7.5" SS handgun.

Mine is not a Hunter but, it is just as fun to shoot.

Feels real good when I carry it while Up North in the woods.

The Dragoon Trigger guard does NOT give me 'Knuckle-Smack' at all.

Plus I am fairly accurate with it. Even more so then my Ruger Single Six 22 caliber Convertible....Odd as that may sound.

I really want to get my hands on some heavier grain rounds. 300gr and up.

Even some TRUE .44 Specials would be nice. Not those Cowboy Action Rounds.

  • Saw one in my local gun store case. It looked at me with very sad eyes. It felt good in my hand, so I bought it.

I can one hand just as well as two hand it.

I have shot it. Men have shot it. Kids have shot it. Women have shot it. Everyone loves it.

I can ring a 100 yard bell with open sights no problem.

    Fun. Accurate. Reliable.

  • im putting this on my "revolvers to buy" list.....so far i'm buying a S&W 629 classic, S&W 627, S&W 329 NG and this Ruger Blackhawk Hunter

  • @miximebuchi sorry thought you asked what they were. They look sick when fully expanded, I have never shot Talon ammo so wouldn't be able to say how much they tear up a living target.

  • @maximebuchi - talons were a type of ammo that got a bad rap from the media. The Winchester SXT (same eXact thing lol) is pretty close. Look up the story

  • Sorry for the maybe silly question, but what is special about the Black Talons?

  • Outstanding review. I had a 5.5 Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44, which I used for cowboy, using .44 Special loads. I have been considering picking up a new Hunter model in .44. I know and trust the Ruger Blackhawk single action mechanism and I think your detailed assessment might just push me to finally get one.

  • @shootcentermass -Hey, it sure beats an elementary school. I mean, lunch used be my favorite subject. ;-)

  • how much are 1 of those used .. lets say only shot half box of shells

  • @ExtremeRocker671 i hope your being sarcastic

  • 6 people tried to shoot this gun but it hit them in the face

  • Six hogs watched this video

  • Nice i have a super redhawk from the late 80s bought it new and only put 18 rounds through i even have the shipping box its really nice

  • what kind of frame is that?

  • yea life is good when your watching your videos hickok

  • can you get your hands on a webley 455? i'd really like to see that in action.

  • rugers rule.! and you just proved it.. allso in my opinion you are without queston an absolute ( REVOLVER GURU),, thannks for all you do..!!

  • @main095099 smiths rule as well sir

  • same as mini 14 scope mounts?

  • @shootcentermass I believe it's been mentioned before that hickok45 is in fact a teacher. Best damned teacher ever.

  • black talons lol

  • what is the best rugers to look for?

  • @fishblade2 It depends on what you're looking for in a firearm, what you're going to use it for, and what type of firearm.

  • also do you have videos of taking guns apart and showing the proper way to take these guns apart and to clean them?

  • you need to do videos talking about the freedom arms handguns. You should shoot, talk about, and compare the single shot .357 with another high power caliber revolver by them and give your opinion on them!

  • @acd I am the same way I shoot pistol right handed and rifle left handed.

  • That is a beautiful weapon.

  • it sounds like black cock hah

  • @NicklasAchieves that would explain why its so big???

  • @shootcentermass its no secret that he was and still is a teacher, but I agree

  • I shoot hand guns left of right, but I can only shoot rifles left handed. Am I the only one like that here?

  • @hickok45 you should do a video on the hi-point 995ts :)

  • @Rukker115 I have a Hi-Point 995 and love it.

hickok...I am near Nashville if you want to borrow for a review?

  • That Mag looks so comfortable

  • gong, with authority

  • Moving to DSLR?

  • Seems to shoot to the right for you, (as I am sure you know by now) Nice gun, had one of those back in the 80's, need to revisit that memory one day!! Great video, and thanks to the viewer whom let you borrow that for this video!

  • Do you find it easier to fire with your dominant eye open and your other eye closed or with both eyes open hickok? I'm a newer shooter to handguns and revolvers

  • You should do something special for your 445th vid.... you know... cause you are hickok45....... like.... the 45... 445... you know...

  • will you make a vid with some modern rifles

  • Good alternative to t.v.

  • holy shit

  • pop goes the watermelon

  • your videos are just to long man

  • How far away is the pig target?

  • general shepard?

  • wow this is 3.25 lbs WOW, good weight for caliber

  • wow this is 3.25 lbs WOW

  • Which ruger is it that comes in .454 Casull

  • @LegionWarrior Super Redhawk. I own one and it's a beast of a gun, I rarely shoot full house loads.

  • nice guns

  • i must say i rele enjoy your videos because its a perfect mix of talking n shooting that . also to my surprize i rele rele like the radio show alot !!! tons of good topics but now i goota go to the beginning n listen to um all , thanks for the entertainment ,

  • My next gun wil be the Ruger Blackhawk Bisley model in 44 mag.

  • People in the states are so lucky we swedes only have axes and swords

  • @az12223 wear i live its even worse , u can have a gun , u just cant rele use it ( can go to a range n shoot only paper non human targets , no zombies or nazis , or russians er anything .. not even a pop can ,,, )

  • now, think of what happens when a 44. caliber bullet gets in your head

  • Seeing that box of Winchester Black Talon really snapped me back to the early 90s! It was such a crying shame that Winchester caved in from the negative media attention and removed them from the market. Hunting Blackhawk has never been the same.

  • I have owned the Ruger Black Hawk Hunter and the Ruger Super Red Hawk. I no longer have the Super Blackhawk. The trigger guard kept racking my knuckle as you mentioned early on in the video. Maybe I am not used to the single action Grip. I did keep the Super Red Hawk.

  • What a natural, I could tell you shot that gun before. I'm gonna go see a SASS range single action shoot this month after watching. Like that pig shooting. Something wrong with the lens folks, it gets all good again after that :)

  • Great video as usual. Seems like a well made gun.

  • hey hickok i was shooting 2 .45s the other day, a Gov't 1911 and a HK Mark23. with the Mark i was shooting low at like 15 yards almost everytime. with the 1911 only a few times. do you know how i could correct this? i am a new shooter with handguns cuz im only 17. anyone that has any ideas as to how to help me i would be very greatful to. thanks.

  • @smcombs100 Usually shooting low combined with a new shooter is caused by anticipating the recoil. Right before you pull the trigger you instinctively push down to counter the recoil of the gun that you know is about to happen. If this is the problem, try holding the sites on target while sloooooowly squeezing the trigger so it "suprises" you when it goes off.

  • Wery nice video ! You can try the Redhawck 44 ?

  • When you shot the watermelon with the Black Talon round on normal speed it almost looked like the watermelon got vaporized.

  • @ImWatchinTheTube, I carry a 92FS while on duty, but for Pistol Qualification you need to shoot both Single and Double Action, Single Action is better for longer distances and Double better for shorter distances.

Also its not hard to conceal a full size hand gun, I carry a S&W M&P .40 when I'm not working, I don't wear it on the inside of the waist band, most people can't tell that I'm carrying

  • @moderncaveman100, shoot with both eyes open... should improve where you hit on the range

  • that round really have a lot of energy....notice how the steel target spin after being shot.

  • I can't wait til you do a review of the redhawk.

  • Hey Hickok theres a new ruger out.... The SR40C........whats your thoughts!

  • Hickcok, You've done several videos on caliber, like how a .357 mag gun can be loaded with .38 special. I was wondering if similar is true for a .44 magnum and another caliber, like .45 ACP or some other. Thanks!

  • @Xenthick youre right, .44 special can be shot from any .44 mag.

  • i love subtle sarcasm, if anyone doesnt know what i mean by this than please see your instruction manual lol

  • Watermelon. Gone.

  • He's shooting out collectibles? Well he's definitely more of a shooter than a simple collector that's for sure.

  • I think that 2nd watermelon was the most impressive watermelon shot to date!

  • i notice that all your targets appear new in every video do you you just take a can of black paint out and paint them after shooting?

  • @fox8989, Yes he does, in the earlier videos you can see him spray painting them, also you can see in earlier videos the targets were different colors

  • 8:30 I love your sense of humor Hickok.

  • The Super Blackhawk line are some of the coolest revolvers around, in my opinion.

  • Do you have a Carhartt sponsorship or something? You seem to be always wearing those shirts.

  • @flamincow11, Yep, and it really big money! :-)

  • @hickok45 how much? some cents per view?

  • thank you so much for doing this vid have been thinking about this gun

  • I personally prefer the Bisley version.what are your thoughts?

  • Excellent video. I have the same gun and plan to try deer hunting with it for the first time this year. Can you give us any detail on your lead reloads? I would like to start loading lead (I have always reloaded with jacketed bullets) to save costs, and I would like a mild practice round. Do you have any leading issues shooting .44 special in a .44 mag? A lead reloading video would be nice......

  • Hey hickock, when you can hit the gong from like 85 yards, why do you get so close to the messy stuff? Just curious.

  • That is a powerful gun.

  • MAN, that thing hits HARD!

  • @tdelehanty1 He borrows some of them for the videos.

  • *watches the first 3 seconds over and over again for 10 minutes before watching the rest*

  • how does that pistol grip feel? it looks so short. i feel like if i fired that gun (or any old colt style grip) it would fly out of my hand.

  • OH MY you have black talons ? and your shooting them i want them !!

  • id like to have one of the old 41magnums.

  • hey hickok why dont you hunt? i think you would make a great hunter!!

  • Got one of these with a red dot (can't remember brand name) in .45 colt... easily hits a 10 inch plate at 200 yards off hand. Love it.

  • Nice POV in the beginning =)

  • "You can never go wrong with a .44-magnum" Classic! :-)

  • @tdelehanty1 hes a teacher during the school year he has stated these things in vlogs vaqs and radio shows

  • why did they stop making the Black Talons Hickok?

  • my older brother has one in .41 Magnum. Its a freaking BEAST! Its a great silhouette competition pistol as well.

  • thats a badass gun

  • I think this is probably the best looking revolver out there. Although, the python and smith 581 are beautiful as well.

  • I have one of those in .41 Mag, great gun. I just started using it for silhouette shooting. Great video, keep it up!

  • ruger sure makes beautiful revolvers...

  • Another great video. Love the over the head p.o.v.

  • hickok, I know a lot of the videos you do you use guns that are lent to you. I was wondering how many firearms you personally own.

  • I am still trying to warm up to revolvers.

  • @ArtisanTony They never fail to feed, and if there is ever a misfire you just pull the trigger again.

  • @TheChoada With 15 rounds in my Glock I can afford a few misfeeds :)

  • @ArtisanTony I have a Glock too. I have had it for a year and it has failed to feed 3 times. Each time it happens I realize that could be my ass If my life were depending on it. My S&W .357 j frame has never had a problem of any kind. I am seriously looking at the S&W tactical .357 Mag which shoots 8 rounds and has rails for optics and lasers/lights.

  • full cock lol

  • "big ol super blackhawk" thats what she said

  • That is one sweet ass shooting range. I'd pay $40 to shoot there !!!!

  • the summer of fun with Hickok45!

  • That's a new style gun with that feed gate. Our vintage Super Blackhawk goes into half-cock to free the cylinder, just like a Colt SAA. Also, from what I've read, the Ruger Blackhawk is THE ORIGINAL .44 Magnum, beating the S&W model 29 by a few months.

  • You better not be shooting any of those Black Talons! ;-)

  • What a fine looking handgun........old school rocks!!

  • I got a Rossie 38 that's not rated at least We don't think it is for plus p loads. we cant find any ammo for it do you think we should try it?

  • Next rapid fire type video: water melons VS Big Guns.
