Hi DM fans, I invite you to view a wonderful master class on the music of Dave McKenna. Free, entertaining and VERY educational:) To view, type in "Dave Frank" McKenna on Youtube. You vill enjoy it!
How he quickly checks the set list and immediately launches into the tune. Yeah, so he speeds up the tempo, but isn't that so indicative of his style? Once he settles in, does it swing like a solo piano arrangement should? Truly humbling to hear his master interpretation--this performance serves like a master class in the solo jazz piano technique. We'll be learning from this genius for years to come...Jazz pianists the world over are all indebted to you, Dave McKenna..our deepest thanks

A kind of amazing genius of "Blue Collar" jazz playing. The best player of blues and the American Songbook.
I saw him many times...even though I grew up in a slightly more modern era, I was transfixed night after night!

Man! Talk about two part inventions! Bach would have loved this guy. Dave - you were the best at this - hands down!

Viewers might notice that his hands are considerably more wide-spread on this number.

Dave seems to take songs from any era and turn them into piano classics! I'm sure Bud Powell would have enjoyed this! Many thanks. Jim
