I was born the month after Halley last appeared. That means I'll be 76 when it appears again or probably dead. I would really love to see it though. Can someone tell me how long you get to see it for? For instance if I were to stand in a dark field where I had a clear and unobstructed view of the night sky, how fast or how long will I be able to see the commet for from the time it appears to the time it disappears from my view? Would it be a few seconds of it zooming across the sky or slower?
i was 10 years old when halley passed the earth in 1986 i remember it so well .when it was gone my grndpa said to me when that comet passes through earth you will be much like me.and old man telling your grandsons this is the second time watching this comet passing by.most people like my grandmas mother saw the it on 1910 .then she was able to see it for the second time after on 1986.most people can. see it twice.but most cant..people thatll be born on 2052 will be 10 and may be able later .
wow this is a great information, i have just studied about this star in my religion and our prophet(SAW) told us about this star and predict something for future.
Halleys comet is a conspiracy theory by the government to trick us into believing that there is a universe without life. It's all bullshit. Aliens are with us now and are watching this video right now, laughing at you guys, I'm the only smart one and I'm not gonna conform to the man. Fuck that I'm not ignorant like you conformists.
lol my great grandmother has a small capsul of haleys comet pills that her older brother gave her from 1910 when haleys comet came, they said that the pills would make it so radiation and dust wont kill you, after all, everyone who took the pills and everyone who didnt take the pills lived anyways, although the people who took the pills later got very sick...

@DEnaz453 haha, so you dont want to remember this day when you are 63, reflecting back in time, if you do then do remember me, with my channel ...peace
Hey, I remember that when I was a kid comets were more popular than nowadays. How this is possible? I remember also that I saw one (or maybe more) when I was hmm 7?
@nyc42stend Both of objects influence to each other. When objects are in nearly the same mass, they go around their center of gravity. But if one of objects is much smaller(like Sun and an Earth), then the other nearly doesn't circulate at all. But I don't know how about comets. I've only read that it's described by Kepler's laws.
No one ever talks about Haley's Comet. I remember seeing it in the sky every day for months. It blew me away. I would drive home from work and see it at night. Get out of my old junker, walk out into the field to spend a couple of hours watching with amazement. Seemed like no one gave a shit back then. I couldnt believe that thing was disrupting my normal perception of the stars. Unbelievable is all I can say to those of you who never saw it and will have to wait decades. Lasted a lifetime.
Halley is a generational comet. Usually people only get to witness it just once in a human life span. It heralded the coming of the birth of Jesus Christ and it served as a sign of his return to that same generation when Jesus destroyed his enemies and Jerusalem in 70 AD.
In 1910 the Earth passed through the tail of Haley's comet. Newspapers like the Oakland tribune put a comet likeness on it paper's title. Little did people know at that time was that this thing could have obliterated this planet. We talk about asteroids hitting this planet let see who is laughing if this planet has to come in close contact with it again.
i was born on Halley's comet.my mom and dad were at a church and someone said theres 5 people that i going to be pregnant my mom and dad looked at each other and said we have to get out of here.but a few days later i came along in my moms stomach and on the day of Halley's comet i was born and i never got to see it yet.

The "dirty snowball" comet theory is clearly not supported by the recent observations.
"In 2000, as comet Linear (named after the telescope that discovered it) approached perihelion, strange things began to happen. It brightened by more than 50% in less than fours hours, and threw off large quantities of 'dust', much more than was expected from ice and other volatiles. Then, to cap it all, the Chandra telescope discovered that the 'dirty snowball' was emitting X-rays!"
NASA cited a befuddled process called 'charge exchange reaction', which it claimed was first proposed in 1997. As a matter of fact, however, the electric comet theory has been around for more than a century, and it received clarity from Ralph Juergens in the early 1970s. He proposed the Electric Sun model, with the corollary that cometary comas and tails are produced by an electrical exchange between the sun and a comet."
@Selasia you know comets depends, whether they are the first time comets or old ones, the fresh new ones is more volatile due to its large amounts of snow and ice...
but so far the best disriptions that surpassed every other ones is the dirty snow ball..
"In only 42 hours in October 2007, the comet brightened from a magnitude of about 17 to about 2.8. This represents a change of brightness by a factor of about half a million and is the largest known outburst by a comet. No explanation has been provided by NASA or the mainstream as to why, let alone how, this has occurred. As of November 9th 2007, the coma is now greater in diameter than the Sun, making it the largest body in the solar system (the actual comet being only 2km wide)."
@Selasia 1.) It's not all ice, there's iron, sulfur and all that inside there too. And Space is nearly nothing like Earth, on Earth, if you shake a flag pole, it doesn't change much. In space, the flag would flap.
@Selasia I KNEW IT! i had a book once, it said that all comments were dirty snowballs, and now i am an astronomer kid who loves looking for comets and many things like that

I don't agree. Snow and ice can't cause the (sometimes extreme) observed phenomena with comets.
All my own research shows how space phenomena are electr-magnetic in nature. Please have a look:
