The real answer is just a play on words. Using before to mean in front of and married to be the act(past tense) of presiding over the marriage of his sister to another man. And no one with a heart would say that a child killed his mother if she died while he was being born. To say that someone killed another person implies that an action took place by conscious choice. This is like saying that the passenger killed the driver in a car crash because the passenger was there at the time of the crash
