they are around now DUDE!!! get ur facts straight! the DEELE is still singing now...jus not Babyface or L.A. reid. but they have one maybe two new ppl...but they're still around FYI. TBH seriously they are though.
I don't think yall give enough credit to the other members of The Deele. Yeah Babyface was a good vocalist, but come on! Dee and Carlos were just as good, if not better! And L.A. and Kayo on the drumsand bass, come on yall! The Deele was SO much more than just Babyface! Lastly, this isn't The Deele ft. Babyface, it is THE DEELE. You wouldn't say Silk ft. Lil' G or Earth Wind and Fire ft. Maurice White, give The Deele some credit man!
Babyface has the most amazing voice I've ever heard! It's Beautiful, really. My dude!!! I saw him in concert w/ Boys II Men. Hands down, the best show i've attended!
I saw Babyface in concert on 02-18-2011 in Columbia, SC. It was a dynamic show. He's the consumate performer. The young artist would be wise to sit down with these old masters and learn from their feet.
I remember back in the day when you had to record songs off the radio with your boom box...this song would come on and I'd make a mad dash for my radio to hit record!!!!! NOW THATS OLD SCHOOL!!!!
This song reminds me of my time in Virginia Beach, Fort Story. There is very short list of songs that have moved me as much at this one did. It does make you think, "why", are songs like this not being made anymore? Anyway, I had a girlfriend at the time but our relationship could not compare to the feelings this song gave me. 1 Love

I was introduced to this songi in the mid 80's while living in Cincinnati, Ohio by a close friend. I have been a Deele fan ever since - Until Now! I actually met them at a nightclub in Northern Kentucky - Jello's - anyone remember the club?
@calroach1 I remember seeing them perform at the Chique Nightclub in Cleveland, OH in the 80's. The crowd on the upstairs floor for dancing came downstairs to hear their great performance.
I do miss real love songs like this! Wow does make you wonder is this the reason true love is so hard to come by because people have drifted so far from it. Come back my fellow singers! We are waiting.
@dubydj yes, i believe it becuz ppl just care about money. they don't make love songs no more. it's more about sex, thugs, f u bitch sorry for cussing, but it's true im 22 yrs old so i was suppose to grow into liking this today's music but thanks to my mom and cousin i love old music cuz its a meaning behind it.... it's nothing good anymore... true love has lost its penchant taste.. tHIS IS THE KIND OF MUSIC THAT KEEPS FAMILIES AND RELATIONSHIPS TOGETHER. REAL SINGERS. INSTRUMENTS AND NOT AUTO TUNE AND DIGITAL...I REALLY MISS THE 80'S AND EARLY 90'S
This Lil guy even at that time was very talented along with the other members were equally talented. Look how Babyface, Darryl Simmons, LA Reid has blown up over the years. Thank you Darnell for keeping it real and holding on and giving us true R&B. Also a shot out to Leon, Kayo and Carlos and some of the other new attractions to the group.
I remember this song from the mid 80's. I had a friend, Jodi, who moved to Kansas City the summer after I met her. She had 2 brothers, I remember " Bubba" but not the other brothers name. I remember Bubba kissing me behind County High in Northport though. I love the song and the memories, thanks for all of the great music.
Everybodys comments echo what I feel inside about old school R and B, I'm so glad I'm not the only one that feels the way you guys do about old school music. PEACE.
This is a Timeless jam that will never get old and when you here it and many oldschool jams from back in the day you almost want to stop and get up and put the earphone on and jam like we did back in the day do ya'll remember.
Hi Tammy, just curious, what do you mean "used to" love this song? This jam is a bonifide classic! They just don't make music like this anymore! I don't have any particular memory connected to this song. I have the album, but I haven't jammed it in years. Well anyway, as is obvious, I just peeped this video, and I had to wipe the tears from my eyes. The '80s and early '90s were a beautiful time for music...
yeah ladies n gents it's all over. u just can't find great r&b groups anymore. everything now is a bunch of thugs rappin about their their gun, their grill, their possee, their bling, their bitch n a bunch of senseless garbage. u don't even hear slow jams at clubs anymore. no dress code, no manners,no game, just future convicts. what happened 2 dressing nice, smelling good n respecting the ladies. i'm 43 n i miss those days with good friends at the club back in houston tx. that's y i keep it old sch
Man, me and my dude was just talkin bout the same thing! Remember when they'd slow it down in the club for the last few songs and play some Isleys, Surface, or some old school jams.
It's all say'd there Sir. Yes these were the days. I'm 42 and i feel sad for the new generation. Fur Luck some of these artists are still touring nowadays ! JMH
@str8outtatexas1 dude im 22 and i act like u man im so serious i have never been to the club cuz they play non-sense and ppl dnt know how to act... but i know how to treat a woman... thanks to my mom and music like this.... face, temptations,r.kelly, isley bros, and etc .... old skool rap: krs one, bdk, rakim,ll cool j, and etc... nobody respects women these days.....
I miss songs like this too! I can't remember the last time I heard a great love song, but then I rarely listen to the radio anymore...I just play my cds from the 60's, 70's, and 80's.
this is such a wonderful song and i miss the 80s and i am 36 yrs old and i try to get my kids to listen to some of that music cause it has meaning not like songs of today.
STLboyzG0Hard: Keep up that good work, too. You're instilling something in them that they'll get NOWHERE else these days! Good dad. :-) I fully plan to instill the same in my kids when that happens.
I try not even listen to the radio any more its a bunch of BULLSHIT! There are a few cats i listen to but most of them SUCk and id never pay a dime to see them in concert.
The world has abandoned this type of music because people with have sold their souls for money and fame their dark hearts are controlling everything. They'd rather talk about pain, insanity, graphic sex and violence in their so called music. Families might stay together if love music was singing love and commitment. Instead its cheatin, sexin, bustin windows, and getting revenge...I just choose music that's meaningful like gospel or oldies like these.
And you can certainly descern the difference in the music before they even speak a word; Dirtiness is a plague the world has taken on, it would be so nice to get back to this kind of music.
So agreed, but if it weren't for these patriarchal laws in western society that pay poor women to keep the men out the house AND if it weren't for the disintegration of the nuclear family that had been keeping American together, love music like this would still be valued.
Now with all this junk out, people aren't contesting to it anymore. I thought it took a village to raise a child, but now big brother, the government, and the children are raising the village!!! Que pena!
@GOT2LETGO I disagree. I assume you're referring to rap music. However, those subject matters go on in real life. If those things were to be unspoken of, those stuck in those lifestyle would have no voice . However, this music is true to life, too, and I wish it would come back the same way I want QUALITY rap to return to mainstream music . The problem is that young teenagers are the target of seemingly every record being produced, and that the music industry is purposely avoiding true talent.
At 3:02 listen how Dees vocals come in to compliment Faces. My friend saw them in concert at Arco Arena in Sacramento in 89 and he said they all sound alike you could barely tell who was singing what part. SOLAR didn't have one weak group come from their label, to bad Leon Sylvers didn't get to work with the Deele. Ah damn I can just imagine whew!!!!!!
Damn!! how the hell did radio ever stray away from music like this. If I ever hit the lotto im buying my own radio station and playing straight up late 70's all of the 80's and early 90's R&B. Faces lead and the groups background vocals are killin, you just don't get this kind of harmony any more, also Dees hi notes in Just My Luck shows groups back then got several members involved vocally. Best era for music hands down.
The ballad in which every other ballad should be measured against, feeling, sincerity, humilty and most of all for the lover, hope, this cut has it all.
Im a happily married man with 4 lovely kids in my mid 30's. But every time I hear this magical song it takes me back to middle school in the mid 80's.........it's where I shared my first kiss at a school dance with a cute carmel skined girl with a long ponytail down her back while this song was playing. It's amazing how music can conjure up old feelings. THANKS FOR THE POST AND THE MEMORIES.
Yep, music can and WILL do that to you! That's why I LOVE youtube; not only do you get a chance to HEAR these old skool songs that bring back so many memories but you also get to share stories with others! thanks for sharing your memory :)
I absolutely love Troop's rendition from their 'Deepa' album. I never realised The Deele recorded this at first. Then again, The Deele were never big in Europe... :-(
Enough talents, just no record companies wanting to promote REAL music anymore. They're only looking for the next Madonna, Britney or Beyonce to sell, sell, sell and not to put out REAL, good music anymore :-(
OFF THE HOOK!!! Face is the MAN!! Troops version is very good as well. With Troop, I prefer the CD version over the video. Steve does too many runs and it loses the melody. Sometimes less is more.
This is my first time ever writing a post but that was incredible. I love troop and their version is ridiculous too but damn! I didn't realize Babyface could put it down like that.
I search for this every couple of months and I'm just beaming over here now! thanks so much! This song brings back memories! Much better than Troop in my opinion!
this songs remind me of the summer of '87 in Texas, straight out of high school in love with a girl that worked next door to the car wash that I worked at. I lovvve this song.
I know this song in and out. I remember being in love as a little boy when this came out and I was in love with the cutest little girl that I'd ever seen. Just hearing this song reminds me of standing in my back yard at the fence between our yards, talking to her for hours..never wanting the day to end! I have been looking for this song for years. I am so so so happy I found it!
Wow! I thought "Troop" was first to sing this song, and is that Baby Face in the white jacket? - Well he probably wrote the song , great song by the way! - thanks for the post!
sexy s this song remind me of my first love. you know when your young and think your in love. you break up and make up ,and you think you're going to be togather for ever.this is one of my favorite song

Damn, I miss the 80s and 90s.

Check the credits on the album cover. I know niether of his brothers were members of the Deele, but I believe one did sing on that album.

what happened to the radio? Was it really the money or is there no more talent?
PsalmSelah 3 years ago 4
PSALMSELAH: Both. BOTH! The true talents are underrepresented by mainstream radio. Witness neo-soul. Very sad.
Tre404 2 years ago
they don't come like they used to back in the 80s and early 90s....no more talents :(
the80sgirl 2 years ago
Enough talents, just no record companies wanting to promote REAL music anymore. They're only looking for the next Madonna, Britney or Beyonce to sell, sell, sell and not to put out REAL, good music anymore :-(

I think one of the guy from After 7(Face brother) also sang on this song.

No..neither one of Babyface's brothers were in this group. Babyface was the only one doing lead vocals on this song.

IMHO, this was the greatest,"under-rated", slow song ever. Babyface written written or not.

OH my goodness Boo, you took me there, and I was open to the possibilties, but the man came with too little, too late.
Anyways, I Still love that Song.

This is in my opinion the best song ever wrote, produced and song! With Face's "Where will yo go" a close second. This is a bad dude.

When I first listen to the song in 1983, I new that BabyFace Guy was going to be great.

I like both versions, but this one drags too much for me. No one could ever deny Babyface and his talent. I have so much admiration for him forever!

Baby Face killed this song....God!!!!! His harmony and the chord structure from the rest of the band makes this a song that will never get old.

This song reminds me of my very first boyfriend!!! We both LOVED this song and The Deele.

Need I say it, ok i will i like Troop, but The Deele is killing them on this song, sorry, old school wins again.
