I love how the rocket actually does turn completely around instead of just snapping 180. Of course, we see it like that normally, but still, it's awesome.
For those wondering, he uses a program called lawena recording tool to capture 1000 pictures per second or frames per second. He then uses virtual dub to put these frames into a sequence which he compiles into an avi file. He then edits it and renders it using the program of his choice and finally uses an encoding program(MeGUI is a good one) to compress the video for uploading.
@jordanserg31 It's not being played at 1000fps, it was recorded at 1000fps and played back at probably around 60fps so we can see it in slow motion. If it was played at 1000fps it would be a normal video, why would you even think that?
@thebigenea TF2 is like a high class dessert. It takes some slowing down to fully enjoy the game and the community, while Halo and CoD are like a snack food; you don't really appreciate the game, but it's just addictive by nature. Once you've finished that high class dessert, you feel satisfied, and might want more.
human eye can see more than 60 fps you just need a 61 herz (or more) to see more fps ( i have try tf 2 on a 120 herz screen and i can really see 120 fps ) sorry bad english ^^"
1:41 The scout trips on the stairs, while blood randomly appears in the air. Spy tries to backstab the scout, but it's too late. He is already dead from tripping over.
@oyesoymanolo yer math is right, but yer using the wrong numbers to figure it out. he said the clip is actually 10-20 seconds of footage, recorded at 1000fps, lets say 15 seconds of footage. (15seconds*1000fps= 15,000 total captured frames) takes 194 seconds to watch it played back. 15000frames/194seconds = 77.32fps. And the framerate it was actually running at when captured is irrelevant as long as it was above 40fps or so, much less than that and it would appear choppy.
@BogoblinGamer yea i understand why some people call it 1000fps but its not.. its as you said, 30fps of a slowed down game, we do not actually see one thousand frames per second.
@TheHijackreaper its not played at 1000FPS , its recorded at 1000FPS and then spread them 1000 frames over 20+ seconds to turn it into slow mo, its the same frames per second as any clip on here.
@MBJester1215 Are you sure that's correct? Somebody here said that literally playing one thousand frames in a second would crash any PC, no matter how hig end. I'm hardly in a position to correct you, as you clearly know more on this topic than I do, but I'm unsure what you mean
@someguywhocanfly 400,000 [] notice the 000's If it was cents then it be two 00's, So they just left out the cents, Look at it this way [] $400,000,00
@sickel101 I think you're a little misinformed- the extremely high framerate is what allows them to slow it down this much, and keep smooth animation. The slow-mo is just an effect they added
@TravieMcTravTrav You're both misinformed. He said there's between 10-20 seconds of actual gameplay footage, so lets say 10 seconds. Recorded at 1000fps = 10000 total frames. Takes 3 minutes and 14 seconds to watch it, or 194 seconds. 10000/194 = 51.54fps. You're watching 10000 frames of footage, at 51.54 frames per second, which is why it is slow motion. To make it look normal speed again, you'd have to watch it played back at 1000 frames per second as well, and it would be 10 seconds long
and the smooth animation is partly due to the machine it was played on, being able to run it at a decent framerate (60fps+), and also a testament to the fact the TF2 does in fact actually have excellent graphics
The creator doesn't need to have a supercomputer to record this. The gameplay can be recorded as a demo file which can be played back later. By playing back that demo file at 1000 fps, the computer can take the time to render every frame without having to worry about keeping up with realtime.

How exactly do you record in 1000fps? I've all around the internet, but have not really found a solid tutorial of how to do so.
DelusiveDroid 5 months ago
@DelusiveDroid You first have to type into console sv_cheats 1
You'll only be able to do that if you either A. Own the server or B. Start up a bot match,
Then you type host_timescale variable
variable is by default 1.0, so any number less will make the game go slower "high fps".
This also works for all other source games, and maybe other games with similiar console commands.
